"Forget all those promises that only fools remember." Those couple or names are not going to happen I'm afraid.

Obviously Jungle isn't happening, are you also referring to Charli XCX?

Do you have insider info? Do you know who we are getting?

I'll be there too. 😀 Btw Sziget press conference on next Thursday so the official announcement is imminent.

Is this something that happens regularly? Did they hold one for announcements one and two?

Or, might they be holding it because they've got a special announcement to make?

It would be buffling to me if they didn't announce a Foo Fighters / Bille Eilish / Ed Sheeran / Justing Bieber level headliner for the last spot, on the other hand it would also be buffling for them to leave such big name for so late, where most people have bought their festival tickets I assume.

I guess it all comes down to why they have left it so late to announce someone?

They either have a 'major' act that, for whatever reason, is preventing Sziget from announcing them quite yet.

    Or

They have nothing and are scrabbling around trying to get someone.

I can't see any other scenarios. They need to sell tickets, they can't do that with no headliner announced on the first day.

So, they either have someone big to announce who they know will sell tickets no matter what......or they're pretty much screwed.

  4. I think the allegations around Win Butler's behaviour would potentially count Arcade Fire out tbh.

I've stated before, but the reason for non-announcement must be a good one.

It's three weeks since the second announcement and with 112 days to go until the festival begins, the opening day still doesn't have a headliner. This will affect all ticket sales, especially the one day one which, I suspect, will have sold next to none.

Why leave it so long? If it's not a big name incoming, then it's because a major f*ck up in their booking strategy has been made and Mackelmore will be announced next week.

Trying to be positive, and because the line-up is definitely missing a REALLY big ticket seller (Fred excepted, perhaps), I'm going to go out on a limb and state I truly believe this a big name is incoming. Well, bigger than what we have so far.

Who that is, is a different matter entirely.

Just be happy, there will be more room for everyone. 😄

Fair point. Our first ever visit to Sziget was 2019 with Ed Sheeran headlining the first day.

Everywhere was packed, queuing for 30 minutes at the bars etc. Couldn't get within 200 metres of the stage. Thought we'd made a massive mistake.

Went back the next day with The 1975 headlining and it was like there'd been a bomb scare!

Young People in Hungary earn about 500 eur a month, so telling them to spend even above 200 euros for the festival that btw has garbage lineup and plus food will be another 200… not a great pitch for them either unless mummy and daddy pays for them.

Well, I feel ever so slightly tone deaf now. Thanks for pointing out my mistake. Good point well made.

  7. I am coming from the UK with my wife, two kids and daughter's partner. I am paying for everything for all of us.

So, that's: flights, festival tickets, accommodation in Budapest, train/taxi to and from the festival, food, drink, airport parking in UK, taxis to and from airport in Budapest etc etc.

So far, I have spent around 3,000 euros with at least another 1,000 euros still to spend on the food and drink etc.

As a Hungarian teenager spending 180 euros on the festival ticket I think Sziget still offers value for money.

As a middle-aged bloke I keep looking at the line-up and wondering what else my 4,000 euros could have been spent on....!

    idk how to say it...

Maroon 5 are taking a break from their Vegas residancy in july-augost and annouced american featival tour on july.

Well, they'd certainly shift some tickets! However, I also think they'd cost something close to all of the other headliners added together. If spending that kind of money, they'd be much better off trying for The Killers.

If Sziget was going to book an act to save them from all the online negativity, I'm not sure Maroon 5 is that act!

Their style would also clash significantly with 95% of the rest of the acts.

    Don't see it happening tbh.

When it comes to rock headliner I think the Offspring aren't unlikely. They are in line with the level of headliner sziget got this year, I could see the offspring and rise against co-headline especially since both are around during sziget

But why the delay in announcing them? Leaks knew the announcement was coming 'soon-ish' which implies there is a specific act with a specific timescale in place (for whatever reason). I just don't see that act being The Offspring tbh.

Everyone is after a different experience for a festival, not everyone will agree on the quality of the lineup, I think what Sziget have tried to do this year is book relevant artists, depending on the genre you like will maybe decide on if you think the lineup is strong or weak, the sziget lineup this year seems to be more leaning to the dance/house/EDM side, but that genre of music is by a mile the strongest most popular genre there is currently.

All of the other lineups above seem to be more nostalgic than relevant, maybe I am wrong but I cannot remember the last time I heard that Placebo/Lenny Kravitz/Offspring/Massive attack/Pj Harvey had a hit song ? not saying they are not great performers but they are not relevant to todays market.

Sziget, may not have the biggest names, but 90% of the artists are relevant in todays market and will appeal to most of the people.

"90% of the artists are relevant in today's market and will appeal to most of the people"

How you seen the social media response to the line-up? Lol.

  11. I have my hopes up for a traditional rock n roll band. So announcing Swedish House Mafia would destroy me. Even Jungle (who I love) would be a disappointment.

No Doubt, Blur, The Strokes or  QOTSA will do nicely, thank you very much.

No. Couple more names are missing atm.

So two more acts to cover slots on main stage and A38 (Revolut?) and then that's it for those stages?

Does this mean we cant / won't get all three of Jungle / Charli / Wednesday headliner as there aren't enough slots remaining.

I assume, after two slots in A38, that Jungle aren't big enough to headline on the Wednesday?

  13. I'm going to REALLY show my age now. I saw Pearl Jam play at a club in Manchester, England the week BEFORE Ten was released. One of the top three gigs of my life...and I've seen lots!

Should /could they play Sziget? I don't think they have as many well known songs as Foo Fighters but I think they'd go down well. It's rare that people like just one genre of music so don't assume those into EDM aren't also going to enjoy Pearl Jam.

  14. Is this the ideal line-up based on who's touring this summer? No.

Is it worth the 40 euros per day I paid for my six day ticket? Absolutely.

Liam doing Definitely Maybe - I'm in.

Fred Again.. showing why he's truly headline material - yes please.

Editors, Fontaines, Yard Act and Nova Twins bringing the guitars. Thank you very much.

Plus excellent female representation with Raye, Halsey, Aurora and Janelle.

And one more headliner (plus Jungle and Charli?) still to come.

    Perfect? Not even close.

But as awful as comments of socials would have you believe? Not at all.

  15. Sziget must have a reasonable amount of confidence that the band will sell tickets if they are allowing them to hold off announcing until sometime in April.

No Doubt subbed by Charli XCX would be immense.
