Still looks very weak overall. A few gems in the undercard but strange placements and weak top positions do not help.
Even the Saturday that started well feels just decent. Thursday tent names are quality though.Still happy with a day around The Last Dinner Party, Janelle Monae, Avril Lavigne, Marc Rebillet and Dua Lipa but, yeah, overall, yet another proof that there are just too many festivals in Belgium nowadays.

New names.
Passenger and Intergalactic Lovers on Friday
Sheryl Crow and Lord Huron on Saturday (headliner still to come)
Gossip and Zornik on Sunday

How?! Am I being blind?
The eye emoji might be hinting at the WE cover.

Would be huge news, but don’t we have all our headliners already ?
I’m waiting for tomorrow names but RES should be my late summer festival (despite no camping and the two main stages).

air are at opener too..
Ruled out, they’re playing Gent Jazz twice in July.
-
No Pommelien Thijs in this announcement is a surprise.
-
Best news of the week is they got rid of that horrendous font on the poster.
Foo Fighters the only headliner with a bigger font.
-
The whole weekend finally starting to kick in, albeit a bit messy.
Still a lot of acts (many Slope names) to announce but the prospect of The Last Dinner Party > Marc Rebillet > Janelle Monae > The Blaze > Avril Lavigne > Dua Lipa makes me extremely happy.

Janelle as a Barn head or Dua sub was optimistic but great news if true!
That Saturday is so good.

Not so sure about Brutus, they're also playing Ronquieres (another Belgian festival) a few weeks later, so I don't see why Werchter couldn't also be added to their tour. Oh and apparently announcement today at 4 (Festileaks info + Stone posting a picture of Werchter with - "3pm" UK Time as insta story today, + other saying "Belgium we have announcement")
Yeah my bad. As a Belgian band Dour and Ronquieres might not rule them out.
I’ve just remembered they’re playing Graspop though. Does not that make them less likely to play Werchter?

Four Tet too. Was thinking this was finally going to be the year for him to make his debut at RW.
Yeah. We can also add names such as Brutus, SHAME or Bar Italia now ruled out.
Justice / Four Tet / Brutus is slowly making it a nice closing day at Dour btw.
However, Dour still has not announced Janelle Monae (who’s touring and cancelled last year) and their headliner spots are almost filled.
Barn head (or Dua sub) ? -
Justice ruled out (Dour).
-
I still can’t believe some people thought the field would be (half) empty for Dua Lipa.
She needs a decent sub though. Khruangbin is not a Werchter sub by any means.

The War on Drugs ruled out (Cactus on July 14).

Parkway Drive will play on Thursday. Like I said earlier, their booking agency announced last week at 4pm but deleted it really quickly and the time I understand they weren't not in the official announcement, the post was deleted.
Lenny Kravitz
Parkway Drive
Greta Van Fleet
Dropkick MurphysSeems it gonna be the 4 biggest bands on Thursday. Which is weak for RW. Or maybe another act will play between GVF and DM but it's not gonna be a strong day anyway.
That’s a strong Lokerse day.
On another topic, Janelle Monae playing Mad Cool. Barn head candidate ? Or playing Dour after last year’s cancellation ?
-
This line up looks like they’ve put all the names in a random generator thing.
First day is not bad though.
Motxila 21 that high on the poster is ridiculous.

Rock en Seine has just published “rendez-vous at 12:00”.
Headliner shared with Pukkelpop ?
Lana del Rey.
Surely she's playing Pukkelpop?

I'm out of touch with modern music in this country these days, never mind abroad. But surely we aren't looking at a Khruangbin sub set here are we? Very odd placement on the poster
Odd indeed. We might still get a sub but that would push Avril to 4th down which seems… very low.
Unless she’s headlining the Barn. But that would not make sense as she’s a perfect 7-8pm act for that Saturday in my opinion.

Added them in a rush but we’re still waiting for more info on that self-confirmation.
Can’t find anything on their website.

Khruangbin's position is... strange.

So I guess PJ Harvey and Jungle are our first two Barn headliners?

My word, the party in Klub C during Franz Ferdinand 5 minutes after the full time whistle went is among the best atmospheres I've ever been in for a show ever.
I was just outside but that was a great one indeed!
CHVRCHES into Belgium/Brazil into the end of Franz Ferdinand into The Killers was so much fun.
Could Werchter schedule the headliner at 11.00-11.30 to avoid clashing with the game? Unless there’s extra time of course.

Now that the draw has been done I wonder how they will manage the Euro 2024 should Belgium reach the quarters final.
If they top their group and win their Last 16 they play the quarter finals on Saturday at 9 pm.
If they finish second they play the quarter finals on Friday at 9 pm.
Not the best schedule. Remember London Grammar being shockingly empty during Belgium/Brazil in 2018.

I know they’re hyped a lot already but what a performance by The Last Dinner Party tonight in Brussels.
They’re so confident in their sound and that’s only their first record. Probably the last time they’re playing a tiny venue here.
Expecting a good turnout in the Barn to start the Saturday.
