  1. I believe there was a (smallish) fire inside on the Thursday morning. There was a fire engine and a couple of smaller fire vehicles around it and there was some smoke coming from an opening they had made in the tent (towards the back where I guess all the projetion equipment is). I think it knocked out most of the showings (maybe all?) on the Thursday and some on the Friday.
  2. Went with two children so carried in our lunch (pot noodles, crisps, snacks) along with a flask of boiling water. Felt a bit of a tightwad opening them up but hey ho, anything to bring the cost down. The Community Cafe between Avalon/West Holts/ Bella’s Bridge was a lifesaver though - run by volunteers and all money going to help children. Food was good quality and very reasonably priced - sausage (x2) chips and beans for £5.50 for example. I was a bit worried initially about the cost of food round the site but we ate here some evenings and the staff were all lovely and friendly. We did have some other things as well but the cafe certainly helped with our budget and we’ll definitely be going back there.
  3. Went to see LDR over GNR because my daughter wanted to see her (I hadn’t heard any of her songs so had no idea what to expect). We quite enjoyed the set but the delay at the start led to a good discussion between me, my son and daughter about how time is the most precious resource (especially at Glastonbury) and how disrespectful it is to be late for an audience that’s chosen to see you over any of the other dozens of fabulous distractions around the site. If her excuse for being late really was because she was getting her hair done then she deserves all the flak heading her way. I’m disappointed that my daughter didn’t get to hear the full set but agree with the decision to just cut the sound and screens off. Be professional, turn up on time and respect the audience. It’s that simple (unless you’re a diva wannabe and think the rules don’t apply to you).
  4. gibble, same thing happened to me but my order went through. Have you checked your emails for a confirmation? I was panicking thinking I’d have to do it all over again and couldn’t afford to pay twice but thankfully the confirmation was there. Stress over for now.
  5. Hi all, managed to get lucky and get coach tickets from Manchester on the Wednesday (so excited). I usually drive to Glastonbury but didn't want to risk not getting tickets on Sunday. The only worry I have is I'll be travelling with my two children (13 and 9 - both have been before) and I have no idea where the coach leaves from or what time. Has anyone been from Manchester before so I'll have a rough idea of what time to expect? Also, I usually camp with friends in the campervan fields and I'd feel happier doing that this year too (except they're not going). Is it a problem just pitching up next to someone's van do yout think (obviously I'd ask them first)? Is it generally frowned upon or do a lot of people do it? I've never camped in the actual site itself so have no idea wher would be a good place with children. Thanks for your help and see you on the farm! 😀
