Thievery Corporation were previously discussed on this thread, they're playing Beyond The Pale in Wicklow the week before Glastonbury! Potential WH sub maybe? edit: and a festival in Athens the week after! Surely this is the one!

Victorious Festival 2024 10th Anniversary
wro_lap replied to Jack01825's topic in other UK festivals
Really pleased with this lineup other than the Pixies/Jamie T clash. Don't care for Courteeners personally and have no idea what I'd pick between those two. If it was Pixies into JT that would be an easy day ticket for me -
Sigrid just got announced for a festival in Norway the week after Glastonbury. Doesn't mean too much as that's where she lives but it at least means she's active around that time. She loves the festival so wouldn't say no to the call
-
I honestly have a feeling Brandon and the lads just fancy attending Glastonbury to watch a few bands and go down the Cider Bus. And maybe appear everywhere like Dave Grohl did.
-
I've just read this whole thread and it's made me so thirsty to be back on the farm. Damn.

Maybe Prodigy will do a special post-headliner set of some sort? Same with Fred?
-
So the Prodigy are surely headlining? Jorja seems the right size to headline MSW in that format... No idea on 21 Savage but he's an absolutely massive name. So the question is who the hell is headlining? Is Gerry a "headline status" non-headliner like Panic in 2018? This is a great announcement!
-
Great, so suggesting someone I like whilst acknowledging it's a rogue hot take isn't cool anymore? Weird place this
-
It'll never happen, but still.
-
Tom Morello is the sort of name I'd love to one day be a curveball legend slot (unless RATM play - similar to the Fleetwood Mac/Stevie situation)
-
Another one that winds me up... when two friends who are stood next to each other are recording at the same time. Surely you can just record a different moment/song and ask them to send that one to you?
-
I think that's fair and great, and definitely a good part of a Glastonbury journey. If one of my favourite acts is on I'll get a short video just to capture where I was at that moment. But my word, when Coldplay play Yellow next year, I'm just gonna sing along with that. I can watch that back whenever I want after the festival.
-
Can I just say this is a really cool and healthy debate? I personally like to take one or two pictures/videos but make sure my phone isn't out of my pocket for more than 90 seconds across those. A couple of 30 second videos are ok, but anything more than that I just won't watch back, it's pointless. Florence Welch always makes a point of telling people to put their phones away during Dog Days Are Over (which is possibly her biggest song so must get so annoying seeing people recording it every night for that reason). I went to see her at Nottingham Arena and she made a point of praising the crowd for only occasionally recording footage on their phones. She said that from her perspective it really helped her gauge the energy of the crowd and connect with them. The crowd were so understanding of that and obliged as they now understood the performer's perspective. Also... people recording lots at Glastonbury is insane. It's all on TV for you to watch back. Maybe record 10 seconds so you have a snapshot of your perspective, but the amount of phones in the air on TV coverage is ridiculous.

@Gnomicide Not sure where to put this - you're correct about Glastonbury never sharing a headliner with R/L, but just so you're aware re the discussion of R/L headliners playing lower down as Glastonbury, here's a couple of times it's happened before: 2023 Lewis Capaldi booked to headline R/L, played 3rd down Pyramid 2022 Megan Thee Stallion headlined the Other Stage 2016 Foals subbed Pyramid and Disclosure headlined Other And 2011 Pulp did a secret set as you've already spotted. So basically it's more of a recent thing, more so with the two main stage thing (and co-headliners) meaning there's some slightly smaller bands headlining. It rules any of them out as headliners, and probably reduces the chance of any of them cropping up elsewhere - but it's still entirely possible that Gerry Cinnamon could show up somewhere (god help us) and I guess in theory so could Catfish. Technically Blink could too but I just can't see it. Hope that helps 🙂 thanks for all your great work
-
And I enjoyed it tremendously. I've been played.
-
@Dan Wilcox Instead of telling us who's playing, can you tell us if there are two main stages? Is there a big tent?
-
Emily has confirmed the legend is female
-
Good call! I actually didn't think of a secret set. That's half the fun! Ren hasn't really played live so it's hard to gauge how big he is. There's definitely a lot of buzz around him though even if I've over promoted him (I've not really listened myself)
-
Good call - given they headlined WH in 2022 my feeling is they'll just do a DJ set somewhere, but I'll definitely factor that in

I think she's earned an early Pyramid slot

Kylie's great. If you don't like her, that's okay! You can go and watch someone else. There'll be someone on at the same time who you like more, and I hope you have a great time! Argument over?

I definitely think both of those are options nowadays. VIctorious booking a band the size of Mumford as an exclusive will perhaps convince some bigger bands that it's not actually a step down. Same with Boardmasters getting Lorde, Liam G, Gorillaz, Foals, Disclosure, Kings of Leon etc
