  1. We went along to the Corinne Bailey Rae day yesterday after picking up the giveaways from Central Tickets. Musically, it wasn't really to our liking so we caught the final 3 acts. The crowd was very sparse by midway through CBR's set - at a guess less than 10% capacity. They'd put down some mud covers on the front 15 metres or so nearest the stage and the entire crowd fitted on there with ample room. You could've put the staff, vendors and their food trucks on there too and still had room to dance. Doesn't really bode well! On a more general note, the site itself is great. It was smaller than I was expecting and refreshingly laid back in terms of security. The natural bowl gives good views from all around the site and the sound quality was excellent for an outdoor event. The bars looked to have decent options (e.g. various Brewdog beers in big cans, ciders, wines, spirits and a limited cocktail choice) and there were 7 or 8 food trucks, with three offering vegan options (pizza, maki, and hotdogs). There were a lot of toilets too, although I only used the urinals so am not sure of their cleanliness levels.
  2. This looks great! Has anyone been before? (as an aside, it's weird that don't have the dates on the poster! - 4th - 7th November)
  3. I didn't realise there was a thread for this, so just posted in the Tour Announcements thread. Tickets available on Central Tickets for Sunday 7th (Corinne Bailey Rae etc). £6.50 each.
  4. Tickets for tomorrow's Sunday Soul day of South Facing at Crystal Palace Bowl are available for just a £6.50 booking fee on Central Tickets. Corrine Bailey Rae headlining, if that's your thing.
  5. Just realised I completely repeated your list! Sorry! FWIW, it was the same yesterday as it was on 22nd May. That'll teach me for not checking the previous page!
  6. You guys have covered it pretty well already (just catching up myself), but as I happened to have extracted the line-up listed on the EotR website yesterday when prepping for the Clashfinder I thought I should share the differences today (when I just had to re-extract!). 21 outs: Blanck Mass Current Joys David Thomas Broughton Disq Itasca Jake Xerxes Fussell Jeffrey Martin Les Amazones D'Afrique Les Filles de Illighadad Margaret Glaspy Marie Davidson & L'Ceil Nu Marlaena Moore Mike Polizze Shygirl Skullcrusher Sofia Wolfson Songhoy Blues The Anchoress Tinariwen Tune-Yards Whitney 17 ins: Anna B Savage Babii Balimaya Project Broadside Hacks Crack Cloud Damon Albarn Gwenifer Raymond Joe Goddard (DJ) John Francis Flynn Kiran Leonard Loraine James Michael Clark Sam Akpro Sipho The Umlauts Tiberius B Wesley Gonzales That leaves us with 105 acts. There were 107 distinct acts in 2019, including secret acts (but not counting double performances). Although we've lost 4 more than we've gained, I reckon that might be our lot (barring Covid swaps), with 2-6 secret Tipi acts to come over the weekend.
  7. On an individual basis there is undoubtedly some degree of risk, but for me it's one with taking because of the mental health and wellbeing boost desperately needed at this point. Just being able to do this for two weeks already has made an incredible difference. I've felt considerably safer at the festival I've done (Latitude) as opposed to most of the gigs. There is always the option to remain at outdoor stages, as well. I imagine EotR crowd will be more respectful and with a higher vax/2vax percentage too.
  8. I had a bit of time this morning so I've set up a Clashfinder (https://clashfinder.com/s/eotr2021), with placeholder times for now from previous years to save time later. I'll add the rest when the day splits are released, but if anybody else gets there first on that day then obviously feel free! 🙂 I've also added the Thursday acts above (subject to change).
  9. Nah, they've been really secretive about it! I've got a ticket, but not sure about going at this point. Definitely keener on VLURE at Old Blue Last, so might do both depending on timings.
  10. I'm intending to go to at least a couple of the So Young nights. My inkling would be that PVA would be the headliners on the Folly Group night. Sorry are already playing the VICE IRL event at Fabric on the Thursday, FWIW. Ha, I literally checked yesterday for any Baxter Dury dates! Cheers for posting.
  11. I've done a fair few at this point since July 19th - a festival and 10 or so gigs, so about 50-60 live sets. The festival (Latitude, not my usual) felt completely normal once inside and incredible to see sets in gigs and fields again in close proximity to other people again. A couple of the gigs have felt much more of a squeeze and a bit too busy for my liking, but that's usually my impression of mid-sized venues at the best of times. Generally, the grassroots venues have been a joy! My very first 'normal' live set was Stephen Fretwell at Rough Trade East on the 19th, which was a beautifully chilled reintroduction!
  12. Wow 😮. That story makes me very uncomfortable. Security for any event/border makes me feel sick, given the power they have over people (not the people working it, but the premise/power). What's their rationale there?! There must be plenty of cases each year of wristbands falling off or breaking. They're just bits of fabric, after all. Surely having the evidence you did would be ample, even overkill!
  13. So, it turns out that Banquet just rely on order numbers for everything, including tickets, with no secondary checks. This system definitely is definitely open to mistakes or abuse as for an event with lots of ticket sales in a short space of time, the other order numbers of tickets would be sequential. It seems like someone made a genuine error when cancelling their own ticket and gave my order number. It's now all reinstated, but certainly feels like a risky system for them to use! Sorry to worry others with tickets! It's still on after all! See you there 😊
  14. Haha! Will see what tomorrow brings and contact them if necessary. Off to see The Lovely Eggs shortly, so no will not be worrying about this tonight!
  15. Also noticed I had this from Banquet a couple of hours ago. The plot thickens!
  16. Fantastic! Love your playlists. Thank you for the effort you put into them 👍 Drug Store Romeos were a relatively new one on me too, but I did manage to catch them last night. Pretty decent live, although perhaps not quite reaching the very high expectations I had. They seem to have a very dedicated fan base already.
  17. Looks like the Fontaines DC gig in Kingston on Monday is off, presumably for the same covid reasons as last week's appearances. No official confirmation anywhere bizarrely, but I've had a refund today.
  18. Ah, it wouldn't be an APE thread without a multiple page discussion about free tickets, would it?!
  19. Oooooh! Surely time for a few more, even if they're not the biggest names?
  20. Good spot. Usually some decent up and coming bands in there too.
  21. She was busy! Played 4 sets that I'm aware of - her own slot, late night surprise BBC Intro on Sunday, with Joe Armon-Jones and with Sons of Kemet. Anybody know of any more?!
  22. Yeah, it wasn't quite the show we were expecting and was a little underwhelming for a closing set. Adding Nubya Garcia into the mix made it interesting enough though and very glad they made the effort to play regardless.
  23. My top 10! Wet Leg Joe Armon-Jones Dream Wife Big Joanie Los Bitchos Anna Meredith - Ishmael Ensemble Squid Nubya Garcia Shame Wish I'd seen: Dry Cleaning, Pozi, Goat Girl, Bdrmm. Disappointments: very little! Maybe Willie J Healey, if I'm feeling harsh. Way too tried to add any details right now!
  24. Agreed. My other favourite set, Joe Armon-Jones was also in there. Wish I'd spent a bit more time in there in hindsight!
  25. They played a small tent, The Alcove. I was probably the only person there to have not heard 'the' song, but the entire set was wall to wall bangers. Loads more to come from them! Judging by the people in the room (Dan Carey [next Speedy Wunderground release, anyone?!] and half the South London music scene were near me), I'd say they're extremely well respected in the industry and promotional circles already. They've also been part of other bands, AFAIK.
