Yes even on their Oxfam Facebook page going back  into their history there are people are not happy with that. What about if you have disability issues then

You can ask for reasonable adjustments and they will accommodate you.

  2. Same problem here. I have E mailed webmaster so hopefully it will be sorted. I think it’s because my email is different from when I set up account years ago. No access to old E mail

now I’ve realised the reason I have solved the problem

Well I'm not one to tell people when they're too old for something. I did my first Glastonbury in 2017 at the age of 64, this will be my fourth and I'll be there for 9 days working in the Oxfam shop traipsing back and forth from the Oxfield to the Park, and I'm as excited as a kid at Christmas.

I know somebody who did his first in 2019 at the age of 68, this will be his third and he flies in from the USA.

You're too old when, for whatever reason, you're no longer enjoying it and have stopped dancing.

I’m working in the Oxfam shop too!

    This.

I just did Bearded Theory for 3rd time on trot, great festival and it was fab. Apart from the shifts. Fri 8-4, Sat & Sun 4-12 (midnight). And not at positions in the arena. We got the shortest of the short straws there, not happy, but its the roll of the dice. You lucky pre-shifters luck is paid for by someone else, somewhere! 😅

I had the same shifts at Bearded and also not in the  arena. They didn’t mix them up. Some people had all arena shifts

the training is really generic and simplistic to be honest, any info they use will likely be well out of date and probably not glastonbury-specific. I quite enjoyed meeting up with others and making it more of a social occasion when i last did it, but can also see the benefit of doing it from home in my pants too 😄 mine is a week today, 19/04

My Oxfam training is on 19th too. Second time for this. The first one 4 years ago was on line too

An important question. Somebody is tasked with arranging the rotas in advance of the festival. Even regular volunteers like myself won't know what shifts I'm getting, which locations, etc until I'm  actually registered on site. I'm nearly always a Supervisor but I might also be a steward. It's a bit of a lottery at every festival. Usually I'm pretty happy with what I get but if I want to see a particular artist and I'm on duty there won't be much I can do about it. This, for me, is the big trade off between getting in for almost nowt and paying for a full price ticket If you are a steward, you are allowed to swap shifts with another steward. That can be done on site but it must be done officially using the computer system. It's nigh on impossible, as a Supervisor, to swap shifts as there are obviously far less Supervisors. Also, if your shift times simply don't work for you because of work, childcare, family stuff, etc .just let the Oxbox know straight away so they can rearrange things.

I’ve stewarded at around 8 festivals since 2019. I’ve been wondering about volunteering to supervise and was wondering what the pros and cons are. Would you recommend it?

Had an epic time bin painting again, totally reset my soul ... its a huge commitment in terms of time, but for me worth every minute, every ache and pain, every cold night and every bruise 🙂

Not sure is this Guardian article from just before the festival has been posted on the forum but this just about sums up our time on site

‘What more fun can you have in a field?’: the bin painters of Glastonbury | Glastonbury 2022 | The Guardian

How do you become a bin painter? Do they ever let new people join?

  8. One year. Around 2011 my ticket didn’t arrive. See told me to pick it up from the box office which I did. It was a pain as I was in a campervan and the box office was the other side of the site. I had to drive to box office and get the ticket, then drive round to campervan fields.  Somehow the friends that I was meeting and wanted to camp with managed to save me a campervan space where they were camping, meet me at the entrance on foot and lead me to the said space.

Was fretting as didn't get my oxfam email yesterday,  gave the office a prod today and yay, earlies!

There seems to be a few of us on here with earlies. Anyone know how many get earlies out of the total number of stewards?

I’ve gone and got the much-heralded early shifts! Woop! I’ll be there from Saturday 18th now, which is great, but also means it’s a really long stretch meaning extra clothes, money, food to bring, etc etc . . . I’d really best start sorting out a bed too, seeing as I’ll be sleeping in it for a week . . .

I’ve got early shifts too. Can’t wait!
