  1. PS Porto Superb and somehow reignite my love again for Primavera after the overcrowed and (sometimes) uncomfortable PS Barca 2022.

    My Top 5:

    1. My Morning Jacket (PS should give them more timeslot. 1 hour only performance is a crime for MMJ).

    2. New Order (albeit the sound issue during True Faith, the performance and lightshow was mesmerizing)

    3. St. Vincent; probably the most talented artist right now. Good lord, A+ performance.

    4. Le Tigre ( Love the karaoke thing on the screen and Kathleen Hanna is a true riot punk queen).

    5. Blur (Timeless sound).

Mars Volta, Maggie Rogers and Allvays also delivered superb performance.

  2. As this year will be my first PS Porto, just wondering what the fuss about the decision on moving the main stage to the other area?  Some people quite pissed off about this. How far the distance between the vodafone stage to the porto stage (the main stage)? Is it like the distance to the mordor (main stages) in PS Barcelona?

Exactly. You also sometimes had to wait a bit for a bus this or that way, but honestly it usually looked worse than it was, cause the queue went smoothly. Properly organized stuff.

We stayed quite near San Mames stadium (bus stops were located near it), so it was also convenient and most attractions of the city were still in the walking distance from our area.

Sounds wonderful. With helish experience of waiting for bus to get back to accomodation (added with overcrowded issue) in other major Spanish festival, BBK seems a good option for my next year festival trip. Thanks

Our first time and it was ace!

    1. Gorgeous location. Stunning scenery.

    2. Very good crowd at most concerts.

    3. Usually little queueing, though the food choice could be better.

    4. The line-up worked great. The best sets of the weekend: LCD, Stromae, Bomba Estereo (huge surprise, what a crowd), Caribou, Phoebe Bridgers, Kelly Lee Owens (it got busier ;))

    5. Those techno stages in the woods were awesome too.

We didn't camp, we stayed in the city, so adapting to going to gigs late wasn't that hard. Anyway, it's normal for a Spanish festival even if Bilbao doesn't get the heat like most of the country.

Had a blast, we might come back soon, at least to try more pintxos bars in the city 😄

Was it difficult to get to the festival/going back to accomodation if staying at the city?

  5. Never been to RW and (up to now) this is the only music fest this year with glowing review from the audience side.

Been thinking to go to RW next year but really curious  on how long usually the ticket sold out from the initial sales? And  How far the distance from one stage to the other? Is it difficult to get through the front and middle barricade on the main stage, barn and klub cv?

Also on board again. Got my tickets with the refund protection. Later I realized reading on reddit that it probably doesn't cover anything but serious, demonstrable illness or similar. Can you confirm?
I don't get how the double stage means bigger productions. I didn't notice bigger stage design or better sound this year than in  2018, for example.  If they keep this absurdity for next year they at least NEED to eliminate the vip area in the middle.

My bet is on Travis Scott/Portishead/NIN/Bjork. I don't really know how likely acts that are already touring extensively this autumn (dates in Barcelona included) are to be booked (Rosalia, Arcade Fire). I'd say that they are out, aren't they? Kendrick is out imo. We need another big easier name (like Tame Impala or Dua Lipa).

As a side note: Unsound festival in poland has announced a very interesting first wave of electronic/avant-garde names + caroline polachek as a kind of headliner. It usually shares quite a lot of acts with PS across the weird -bottom-line but amazing- spectrum. An example from 2022 was the caretaker.

Portishead, NIN, Bjork.. it would be (good) gloomy festival in 2023. and I reckon that Massive Attack is somehow “owe” us to perform in 2023 right :). Add Lamb, Tricky, Everything But The Girl reunion (please God), or Zero 7 in the loop, and we’ll have good collection of trip hop god and goddess in 2023

  7. Really curious to hear reviews on how Madcool and BBK perform this year. Battle between PS and these two festivals on Artist lineup will be crazy next year with artist like NIN, Kendrick, Arcade Fire, Arctic, The Shins (perform oh inverted world in full), My Morning Jacket, PJ Harvey, Bjork, Sigur Ros, Perfume Genius, Travis Scott, SZA, Taylor Swift etc etc are seems on the table to perform next year. And somehow I believe (and hope) that all issues relate to overcrowded and cancellation due to COVID will resolve next year.

According to Google Maps the site is 43 km from Plaza Mayor in central Madrid. So about 45 minutes with shuttle bus and then factor in queueing for those buses. And then getting to accomodation from where the shuttle bus drops people off. So could be a couple of hours.

Wow… I’ll stick with PS Barcelona then (or leave my comfort zone and try Mad Cool or BBK)

I wouldnt mind exploring Madrid and visit the art museums, especially considering I have been to Barcelona about 12 times and only one short visit to Madrid. But with the festival being located 40 km out into the desert in the middle of the Summer it seems less appealing. Also the Barcelona edition being held in one of the most beautiful festival venues does not help the Madrid campaign.

The PS Madrid location farther to city than Madcool? Only went to Madrid in 2014, and really unfamiliar with the city.

    Oh my god yes.

    Any chance?

Watch At the Drive In back in 2016. Sadly, Cedric’s voice is way off compare to his prime day.

My Morning Jacket still one of my bucket lists. Excellent live band, would be good for 2 hours plus Auditori or Binance set. But somehow, that band only play in US festival.

Sault also one of the artists that I’m looking forward to see. Their records always excellent, and all those mysterious persona definitely add their selling point.

I was in a group of four - two of us who had the wristbands shipped got in right away (that's after the moderate waiting time to get through security and walk to the entrance). The other two had to wait in line for at least an hour to get the wristbands. Moreover, they failed to scan the barcode on the printed ticket of one of them, so he had to wait in yet another line that was moving even slower than the first. He barely managed to catch the start of Tame Impala at around 21:30. We arrived at the metro station before 18:00. All of that with basically no shade in the Madrid sun.

After me and my friend got in we queued for beer. That's when their cash register system failed and they couldn't sell any drinks. We spent the whole Toundra set and some more in that queue without moving.

Things started getting better after around 20:00, though the bars were still crowded. Next day was fine, more bar staff, portable beer sellers etc.

Getting back was a shitshow. We were staying in Gran Via, so with took a combination of shuttle buses where people were throwing up in, taxis, night buses and walking. Being dead tired, fairly drunk and sleepy didn't help either.

Are there any accommodations available near festival site?
