Not accusing her of lying, but I am surprised. Coupled with the 'in the bones' vibe that a wet one's a-coming.

SZA's a bigger draw than everyone thought...

Was thinking that over the weekend, feels like it might be a wet one this year for sure. WHEN WILL IT STOP RAINING!

  2. Glastonbury belongs to me and my ex in my mind. Being alone last year and this was/is still incredible and still Glastonbury. But there is always a huge part of me that wants to see and speak with them, but it’s no longer possible 😔

I'm expecting a dip of sorts when I get there, but hopefully everything will be alright. You never know what magic is in those fields 🙂

  3. Used campervan fields for the first time last year, would strongly encourage arriving Tuesday if you can as it's a great atmosphere. Having said that though, I wouldn't have thought you will be horrendously worse off arriving Wednesday in terms of your walk to and from the fest.

Post-pandemic ennui imo. Things just seem a little less special in general these days.

Why though? People just feeling a little less confident in life? I think you might be on to something but it’s a hard feeling to quantify

The effect of covid losses and rampant inflation - many areas had their field budgets frozen.  Don't forget lots of festivals have gone out of business since 2019 - staying alive trumps innovation during these tough times.  But that said, we did get The Levels and all new Silver Hayes.

I totally agree that to stay in business and relevant is huge. I will be absolutely buzzing in the build up there is no doubt. It just feels a tad flat at the moment

Maybe the festival itself is starting grow a bit stale? As much as I love it, it maybe is overdue for a radical change of some sort as anyone who has been before knows around 90% of what to expect. Around 2010 was an exciting time when all the late night areas were really pushing boundaries year on year, 2019 had some big changes e.g. the crane, iicon, Samula. Since then nothing that exciting has happened.

I think this is a fair and interesting take. My first was 2014 and it felt like there was a buzz every year for new things going on. 2019 had loads and since the fallback on the crane, there hasn’t been a great deal of exciting innovation.

It’s obviously still incredible. But even stages like Cabaret and Acoustic book the same acts each year. Maybe that’s why the lineup reaction was a bit muted, because it’s rare to get big surprises on smaller stages the last few years I think.

Has this been the most boring lead up to a Glastonbury ever? Don't get me wrong, I'm not a hater or anything. Nothing against the line up poster...but the way everything has been done just seems sooooo boring. It's like they're trying to kill all momentum on purpose.

I know it's only the end of March, mind, so things will pick up

I was thinking this. Something definitely feels off in general

Month after but reckon there’ll be some crossover. Hoping for English Teacher, The New Eves, Jockstrap (again lol), Future Island, Swim Deep, Marika Hackman and Vaccines

Future Islands are in America over Glasto I think 😣

Looking at the cost of her tickets there could be a reason we'll miss out on her.

Yeah but that could be said for loads of people over the years. Elton and Macca recent examples. Just can’t believe when she’s so active, and in the uk the week after Glastonbury, that they wouldn’t have booked her. Would be a great booking obviously!

The current licence doesn't cover the main 16 Stages and Venues at any time other than Friday - Sunday.

Who’s to say something hasn’t changed though? It’s pretty unusual to make that claim. And interesting that on the poster they are beneath the line.

I think it's an incredible line-up. Other than Jessie Ware, I could probably spend the whole weekend on West Holts and be pretty happy. I'd probably have quite a good time if I wasn't allowed to leave Woodsies. I doubt I'll watch them, but I think the Pyramid headliners are pretty good. Coldplay are hardly an inspired choice, but they know what they're doing and won't disappoint anyone who turns up with an open mind.

The only thing I do have an issue with is the idea that Shania Twain is a legend. She's had four top five hits, all of them in the space of three years. She's never had a No1. In terms of chart performance, she's not as much of a legend as, say, 2 Unlimited, or Snap!. She's at a similar level to Nik Kershaw, I'd say. There are two people on the Pyramid line-up who would be better in that slot, in Paul Heaton and Cyndi Lauper, who's got at least three certifiable all-timers in her catalogue. God knows who turned them down for Shania Twain to end up in that slot. The Lighthouse Family?

I mean, you may not like her, but she’s one of the best selling artists of all time. From wiki:

“She has sold over 100 million records, making her one of the best-selling music artists of all time and the best-selling female artist in country music history.”

I think we'll hear a bit from Emily at some point along the lines of it's a tough market this year / we don't pay as much as other festivals. Can only assume Stevie Nicks was beyond their budget. As much as I love LCD and Simz they are weak Pyramid subs.

Utter drivel. Little Simz is possibly one of the most exciting British acts out there.

I think one thing to bring up is the ticket price this year is £360 and this line up is clearly divisive. I think SZA is not headliner material, she's not going to end the festival on a corker

    How do you know?

No wow moment, but been to enough to know it’ll still be great and there will be no regretting the entry price.

Last year, I saw 9 acts from the original poster drop and properly saw ~40 performances over the weekend. I can see at least 9 acts from that poster (clashes notwithstanding) that I’d happily go and see, so it’ll be grand.

    Gutted there’s no Underworld

This is so true. We are spoilt with incredible once in a lifetime headliners, just so happens there isn’t one this year. But the talent on there is still incredible. Plus, it’s Glastonbury!
