  1. Yeah that’s the one, thanks. there’s cash machines so you can get out cash and then transfer it to your wristband. They sent out another email over the weekend on it
  2. There was a really good bit of the website I found the other day with loads of info, but it’s been taken down or I’ve lost it. The camp orchid campsite sounds like it’s where kids town/ whistlers green/ family camping was. Think it said located to the south of the main bowl the current info/ faq doesn’t have it
  3. Harry3 posted above, looks like it’s preloaded wristbands. It might have had a place 5 years ago when not everyone had contactless, if you wanted to streamline payments instead of cash/ chip and pin. But in 2022, seems they’re just hoping they get a bit of cash left over
  4. They’ve confirmed they’re going cashless. I hope they still take contactless. I went to a festival where you had to top up your wristband and the whole system crashed on the Friday night so there was no way to top up, and then they took 6 weeks to refund any remaining balance back. Pure waste of time.
  5. There will be lots of theatrics, actors and interactive things to do but they’ve said there isn’t currently a maze as it was in the last few years. Secretly hoping it’s just gone back to being a speakeasy style maze as last years “queue here to scan a qr code”maze was shite, and took away any of the organic discovery.
  6. 8 can limit?!! I thought the Boomtown alcohol limit was ridiculously low but that’s something else. Especially considering they only let you drink your own drinks in the campsite.
  7. Having keen friends set up your tent is the gold standard. I’ll carry all your heavy cider, you take my nice light tent in.
  8. Maybe wishful thinking from me, they were there 18 & 19. Mad Apple Circus have confirmed on their tour page. Which means imperial leisure will Probably play too seeing as they share 90% of their band
  9. Tankus the Henge with a ‘festival TBA’ for the Thursday
  10. I would have thought it’s a bit soon to have them back, they had a big crowd but the sound was a bit rubbish, and they play a lot of their B sides. Which is great if you’re really, really into Gorillaz. Lots of people left pretty early on.
  11. If you are going to take kids you’ve got to accept you’re having a different festival to usual. the 20 prams parked up by Pangea with kids in was depressing
  12. Ultimate outdoors have got campingaz bistro stoves for £10 at the moment, and
  13. This is true of any festival, but particularly Glastonbury. There is zero reason to bring a child under maybe 5 to the festival. It’s purely self indulgence for the parents. Strong agree on it being too big, it’s also too long weds, opening on Thursday would be fine.
  14. Just to bring this back on track to toilet chat… my mate ended up sat next to a pile of spilt travel John, like that half coagulated blobby frogspawn stuff. He was not familiar with the travel John concept and poked the pile asking ‘what’s with this weird pile of ice that’s half melted’ never seem someone shift it to a hand washing station so quickly
  15. I know quite a few people that are less bothered about tickets than maybe 5 years ago. Common themes: It’s massive, it’s 5 days of precious annual leave, getting more expensive, exhausting, if the weathers bad then it’s a real slog. It’s not like I’m going to stop trying to get tickets but I don’t put in as much effort as I used to. If I was only going to go to one festival a year I’d go to Shambala.
  16. Great summary by Sku, Main thing Glastonbury has done over the last few festivals is greatly increase the amount of metal tracking they’ve put down. if it’s wet Boomtown is pretty tough, the drainage seems better than glastonbury, certainly less footfall, but Glastonbury is a disaster in heavy rain, June gets worse weather too
  17. Assuming beans on toast will be there, can’t keep him out. In general layout terms I think it’s going campsites to the edge and everything in the middle of downtown (apart from Forest parties)
  18. My god I’d be behind that campaign. If you wanna bring 10 crates, a massive tent per person, enough food to feed an army, camping chairs and the kitchen sink with you be my guest but do it somewhere else. one tent bag, a few drinks for set up and everything else stuck on my backpack. Do a second trip to the car in the afternoon for everything else when there’s no queue
  19. As with all festivals drugs aren’t a problem, people are the problem. Young crowd at Boomtown, inexperienced, lots of dickheads. Think I’m just getting too old
  20. Bit annoyed they got rid of reserved camping, worked out at around £10 per person if you got a few of you on a pitch. You’ve either got to pay for orchid, pay to arrive Wednesday or accept you’ll be camping on a hillside. hopefully there’s some flat spots left Thursday towards the outer edges
  21. Reading between the lines, there’s been some comms around how much costs have gone up relative to 2020, no income for 2 years, lots of emphasis on going back to their roots, all about the experience etc. I wouldn’t expect any “big” headliners like gorillaz or groove armada this year. I personally think it’s a good idea, they’re trying to get their core audience back and shake off the “festival for 18 year olds on ket” reputation they’ve got.
  22. Quick question for all the Van Crew. How the hell does anyone afford a semi decent van right now? Even unmodified panel vans with 150k miles are going for well over £10k, double that if you want a VW. maybe it’s the existential Monday crisis getting me down
  23. Unfortunately there’s zero incentive to change the payment/ ticketing system. Makes headlines and trends on social media every year.
  24. I’m 6’7 and I’ve been used as a meeting point in a club/ crowd/ festival before. Stephen Merchant does a bit on it in one of his stand ups, you think it’s great all these attractive girls are dancing around you until you realise you’re essentially a landmark
