I simply don’t believe there are as many people trying for tickets as most seem to think. Not even double the amount that are available.

If the chances of getting a ticket every year are 50% then the probability of success 10 years in a row is (0.50)^10 = 0.1%.

For an 80% chance every year, -0 years of tickets = 10% chance.

I can’t be that lucky, and I doubt I’m the only one on here by a long way. We weren’t even well organised this year, had postcode and reg number fuckups along the way.

I suspect the odds are actually quite high for people who try ‘properly’. Maybe just confirmation bias but as you say if people are able to get tickets pretty much every year it certainly suggests so. I also get the impression that a load of people will start trying and lose interest, choosing instead to moan on twitter.

Starts really difficult, then as time goes on people drop out as they’ve secured tickets or because they can’t be bothered, and by the end it there is less competition, rewarding the persistent.

Oh the good old days like in the 90s when you just walked into Andy's Records and brought a ticket over the counter

It’s amusing, I’m sure half of the people moaning on twitter would be horrified at the idea of having to physically queue for a ticket, almost as if the only ‘fair’ system is one that guarantees them entry

  3. Re: The 1975, looks like their tour has two dates at the O2, that seems pyramid headliner-y to me? Although Kendrick is doing three and people seemed to think he wasn’t big enough…

or thinking about the "piss off the old guard" comment with a hip-hop lens..

    - Wu-Tang

    - Tribe

    - D12 (hence the Eminem rumours?!)

    - Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince 😅

I don’t think hip-hop captures the vibe of the legend slot, in terms of a family friendly sing along. That being said Tribe would be an amazing booking elsewhere

  5. Been mentioned in this thread already, but while See aren’t perfect there’s no obvious better alternative. Ballot is nice in theory but makes group buying difficult, and I don’t fancy having the same chance as people who’d otherwise give up after a few mins of refreshing to moan on twitter. Ticketmaster can jog on, unless we want dynamic prices. Queueing to buy in stores might be fairer, but disadvantages internationals and could be abused more easily. Tech issues aside the current system is probably best.

Weirdly for me card authorisation was the only part of the process that worked smoothly first time. Every other step took multiple goes but In App Approval was flawless.

Same, we were stuck trying to progress from the confirm registrations page to payment for about 20 mins, as soon as it loaded payment was done in a minute or so

  7. That was a weird one, we weren’t as enthusiastic this year as most of our group have dropped out, got to the ‘enter registrations’ page at about 5 past, was stuck there for 20 mins before getting to the payment screen, then all went through pretty smoothly, now the excitement has kicked in again 😂

Bizarrely noticed a lot of people using disposable cameras across the weekend.

Is this some sort of new trend?

Yeah I think a lot of gen Z-ers are into it, my gf is a photographer and apparently getting hold of film is a nightmare atm!

‘Someone must have a birthday, there’s lots of balloons around’

We were joking about this all weekend! Eventually started singing happy birthday whenever we heard a canister go. Where abouts did you hear it?

west holts bar, might be the private bar behind the stage (in the backstage area), might also be the public bar in the west holts field.

I suspect the latter as he asked me to come along, thanks! 🙂

  11. Does anyone know if the West Holts bar has another name/is on line-up? Met someone who is playing on the Thursday but didn’t get the name of the band and want to add to my tracker, cheers!

Surprised at Avalanches being lower down but will be a great daytime boogie. Highly recommend - one of the best gigs I saw last year, such euphoric dreamy dance music!

Do we have any info on what day they’re playing? In my top 3 and my other two are Sunday (Kendrick and Turnstile), fingers crossed for no clashes.

It’s such a shame all of their UK shows clash with glasto 😭

Just noticed that Turnstile have snuck on to the poster. Holy crap this is amazing! The hottest young rock band out there at the moment. Little nuggets keep jumping out of this poster!

I was quietly hoping they’d pop up, seem to be getting bigger and bigger off the back of Glow On, played Kimmel last night!

Can’t place them on a particular stage/time though, maybe The Park? A late night set in Shangri-La similar to IDLES in 2019 would go down a treat too!

Would love that. Maybe being a longer set they may squeeze a couple in. Milk & Black Spiders is possibly my favourite song of thiers

Milk is a belter live too, saw them play it once when they toured Holy Fire. I’m sure I remember reading that there were plans to bring back After Glow as well, early lockdown though so maybe they’ve decided to bin it

  15. As a long time fan whose seen them many times, I’d love a nice set list shake up, fill with dancier numbers like Cassius, After Glow, Milk and Black Spiders to compliment the new album

It's the same with films, I love the work of Darren Aronovsky and Wes Anderson, but I don't want to watch Requiem For A Dream every day for the rest of my life. Not everything has to be deep, Oscar worthy drama, sometimes you want to watch a massive blockbuster, or super people punching each other in the face for two hours. Or sometimes you just wanna watch the same film you've seen a million times before.

Nonsense I start every morning with a screening of Come and See

  17. 1. Turnstile - GLOW ON

    2. Lucy Dacus - Home Video

    3. Los Campesinos! - Whole Damn Body

    4. Little Simz - SIMBI

    5. Tyler the Creator - Call Me If You Get Lost

    6. Indigo De Souza - Any Shape You Take

    7. The World Is a Beautiful Place & I Am No Longer Afraid To Die - Illusory Walls

    8. Clairo - Sling

    9. Faye Webster - I Know I'm Funny haha

    10. McKinley Dixon - For My Mama and Anyone Who Look Like Her

  18. Actually this raises an interesting question, obviously there is no pattern, so what (if anything) does dictate when the line up is released? Is it the case that they're still organising/negotiating with acts up until they release, or will they be sat on the poster for a while before deciding to release?

If the former perhaps we'll get some crumbs earlier, as they've had a long time to get acts signed up, and a fair few might just be repeated from the planned 2020 lineup?
