As I haven't got a Friday headliner, it looks likely I'll be delving into a genre I don't usually listen to. I typically never listen to dance, but maybe Jungle are gonna be my best bet. What albums or songs should I listen to, to know some of what they're likely to play? Plus, is it likely to be a live performance, or is it like a DJ set?

They've only got 4 albums, I'd recommend all of them! The most recent two are my favourites though, and I imagine most of what they play will be from them. They're not really a dance act though, more funk/soul.

Hozier would be an absolute joke

like getting george ezra to do it. Just seen he's had a new song hit no.1 but otherwise theres been nothing for 10 years of note

Hardly going to sell tickets to the gcse/uni crowd nor will it sell tickets to rock fans

He's got a big ol' fanbase. Even though he's not had a proper "hit" for a while, he's racked up some pretty massive streaming numbers in the last couple of years. I think it all happened during lockdown.

I'm not sure he would headline tbh, but I think it's a definite possibility.

Guess nobody is willing to do a lame April Fool's gag saying that somebody totally random and weird will be doing the 2025 headline slot.

    Foals confirmed for El Pointo

  4. The mainstage is pretty band-heavy in fairness, taking up 15/22 slots - not quite "dead" yet!

I know what you mean though, they're definitely less prevalent outside the indie world. A fun fact is that Gerry Cinnamon actually started out in a band called The Cinnamons:

Their guitarist is his main producer now.

  5. Twenty One Pilots' two recent singles have been brilliant - I hope they'll be headlining next year.

'Overcompensate' marked their first UK Top 40 appearance since 2016, so they've still got a solid fanbase.

They're set to announce a world tour very soon.

Out of interest, do Coldplay ever do anything off ROBTTH any more (except the scientist)? I was a superfan in the early years but lost interest at Viva La Vida. I'd give my right arm to see them play Politik again... Was very disappointed it didn't feature in 2016 especially after the vote that week.

From it they played The Scientist, Clocks, and In My Place frequently last year. They also played Politik at a few shows.

  7. It's crazy comparing this Saturday to 2019's:

Mumford & Sons, Anne-Marie, Sigala, Billie Eilish, James Arthur, Jess Glynne, Foals, Miley Cyrus.

You even had massive names on the second stage: Stormzy, Sam Fender, The Amazons, Lewis Capaldi, Charli XCX, Khalid, Vampire Weekend, Future, Bring Me The Horizon.

Obviously Sam Fender wasn't quite as big at the time, but there were about 8 or so arena acts there compared to just RAYE now.

  8. Yungblud's own 'festival', happening at the Milton Keynes Bowl. Usually I wouldn't bother with a thread for something like this as they're glorified gigs rather than a festival, but his interview with NME suggests that it'll be a yearly thing. There will be a dedicated 'icon slot', this year be filled by The Damned.

“Lil Yachty is trying to do what I’m trying to do and push the boundaries as much as possible, whether people like it or not. I also had the idea to do ‘the icon’s slot’, for an artist that we pay homage to as one that inspired it in the first place. The reason I’ve got a white streak in my hair is because of The Damned. Every year, at about 7.30pm we’re going to have an icon.”

  9. Looking at their UK stats, I'm not convinced that Seventeen are bigger than Stray Kids.

Stray Kids: Four charting albums, highest peaking at #40. Three charting singles, highest peaking at #44.

Seventeen: No charting albums or singles.

Even with worldwide monthly Spotify listeners, Seventeen have 6.7m - hardly a massive deal really. They clearly have a fanbase, but not one big enough to sell the 2000 albums it takes to make the UK charts.

Apparently they were second to only Swift in streaming numbers last year (think i've got that right, someone said it earlier on here) clearly gigantic but yeah i have no clue

6.7 monthly listeners worldwide on Spotify, nowhere near the top.

  11. As far as Kpop acts go (I partially keep up with them), I'm not convinced that Seventeen are that big over here. They've not even had an album make the UK Top 100, which only takes about 2000 sales these days.

Hopefully Noah Kahan is just a one hit wonder mind.

Besides Stick Season, he's had one other Top 10 single and three other Top 40s - so he already isn't.

His numbers are crazy really, especially considering that the album didn't chart anywhere when it first released. Whatever he releases next will be massive I think, whenever that is.

With no record label backing that's still pretty impressive. I suspect it's going to go gold considerably quicker.

She's technically "independent", but she's signed to Human Re Sources for distribution and artist services (whatever that is haha) - a subsidiary of Sony Music.
