If some people don't start taking this more seriously I suspect by then you won't be able to. Yesterday when we went to the park with our dogs there was people sat on all the benches, groups of lads out, people with Digital SLR's just taking photos. It was so hard to keep our distance that this morning we went at 6am. I suspect if they continue we'll have the much more serious Spanish style lockdown where you can only go either 500 metres or 1km away from your home and that's only for essential shopping or if you have a dog that needs walking and you can only go on your own.

Yeah I know what you mean I really hope it doesn't come to that, my daily run is the main thing keeping me sane! Thankfully as the roads are so quiet its been quite easy to avoid people on the pavements round my way. think ill probably go for it if we're not on total lockdown but with the weekend coming up I feel like there are going to be more reports of people flouting the rules..

  2. hey fitness crew - haven't checked in for a few days, been out for my government permitted daily exercise the last few days just doing slow 10k's, not sure what to do about marathon training but currently debating still running 26.2miles around some quiet streets here on april 19th as planned, but I even feel a bit guilty as its going to take ~3.45hrs, guess ill see where we're at in the next few weeks.

    stay healthy! stay safe! x

  3. shin splint still giving me agg so I haven't been out at all and am slowly slipping into madness! may run the marathon around the block this week and just see if my knee explodes - glad to see everyone making the best of a bad situation though! :)

Might be worth a physio visit. I've always found 1 or 2 visits can be enough to get over injuries (along with following the exercises they give you at home) Sometimes battling on is ok but sometimes you can just make it a load worse and I find physios are best equipped to let you know what to do in what circumstances.

think its for the best, going to ice it and rest for now and try a 5-10km on the weekend and see how I get on - but may move to getting a physio appointment if no better after this week (assuming theyre still open!)

  5. shin splint central last night - not really sure what to do about it, maybe struggle through the last 2-3 weeks of hard training before tapering off and running 26.2 anyway? or will my leg explode?? very annoying halfway through week 12 of a 16 week plan!

I'd probably be interested in any official 2020 merchandise if it were ever available.

yeah this - not a cancelled one but just from the 'fest that never was' would be cool

    Morph wins the thread.

Had the email last night cancelling the Forest of Dean Half on the 29th, another one gone!  No events to train for now, just got that little bit harder to keep motivation up!

Same here! first time ive missed more than 2 days running (in this training plan!) - definitely going to make the effort this eve

Motivation is just not getting fat I guess.... It would be easy to do! Going to force myself out for a morning/lunchtime run every day I think

I also tried to buy a yoga mat and some weights yesterday. Couldn't find a kettlebell anywhere (are people panic buying weights???) but did order a couple of dum bells and the mat. Hopefully I'll retain motivation to use them!

I know of at least 3 people who have gone out and bought weights so I think this could be a thing..

They postponed until Sunday 21st June!! 😅 which is good that people are hoping mass gatherings will be back on then but I'm not pushing my luck with a marathon 3 days before Glasto!

I'm thinking of doing the virtual it just feels a bit sad.

oh nightmare! yeah I don't think that date is going to be helpful unless somehow it goes ahead and glasto doesn't. virtual does seem a bit sad but im going to try and find some people to cheer at the end and maybe parade me around on their shoulders..

Edit: Also just had word that my marathon has also been postponed :( Super disappointed but I knew it was coming

Gutted for ya! but yeah to be expected, when did they postpone until?

also thinking the same as some of you guys above, quite fancy a swim but feels like it might be the wrong move..

Thank you! My wife is getting a bit sick of me throwing random train guy quotes into conversation.

I'm getting sick of having "yuh yuh, THE Geoff Linton" stuck in my head all day so trying to share the wealth! :)
