  1. I know it is a small issue but The Kooks are especially annoying to me. They must be UK's most-toured band in Spain in the last 20 years. Every €20 small music festival in Spain has them every year.

That combined with Maneskin as headliners being just a glorified cover band, and many other acts that are alright but have been touring for the last two decades... It is just disappointing coming from previous years.

I have got the full 4 days ticket and now thinking of skipping that Friday. Some good undercards there but not sure worth the effort.

It's also weird they start the festival on a Wednesday and finish on Saturday, everything is very odd...

That's the case of pretty much every festival in Spain and imo makes more sense than a festival ending 3AM on a Monday morning.

    something just crossed my mind.

what if they f**ked up their english and wanna say something like "see u AT 20:25" and ended up saying "See u in 2025"

No, it's not a mistake. It's fully on purpose. Whether it is actually the worst publicity stunt ever or an horrific communication of cancellation, we will see at/in 20:25

No trouble. Mad Cool will be held the next year as planned. The message they published is not related to the cancellation of the festival, but is a marketing solution to add more hype. It is well explained in this spanish article: https://www.larazon.es/cultura/musica/mad-cool-celebrara-2024_20231203656cf5b90ec7c80001bae810.html

They are going to release the lineup this week.

If this a trick to add hype it is a pretty stupid one. I was already looking at buying full festival ticket for Primavera Sound and potentially NOS after seeing MC's post.

Hitting refresh (some people don't bother doing that themselves) is hardly an effort.

Personally, I think the festival could really do with a change of the crowd attending

Waking up relatively early on a Sunday morning is.

Just to give you an example, I applied for Taylor Swift lottery tickets and have 0 interest on her music. I wouldn´t have joined the sale or lost a single minute if it was a traditional queueing sale. Let alone a Sunday 9AM refresh one. I didn´t get selected but I would have bought tickets otherwise. I know many that did the same.

Unless of course you're interested in fairness, not selfishness

Not sure how fair it is that someone who is not even bothered to try the sales gets a ticket. It has even the potential to change the entire mood of the crowd attending.

But yes, this is me being selfish and with clear symptons of stockholm syndrom. I am defending a system that has left me without ticket pretty much every year!

  7. No one here should promote a lottery system. That would mean anyone who registers could get a ticket which actually decreases massively our chances. I am sure there are thousands of people who register and then just simply forget ticket day.

This and the facebook group made me soooo anxious. And completely unwarrented in the end as Friday was fine. Maybe we got lucky sandwiched between two shitshows, or maybe I have lower standards than everyone complaining on FB. **shrug**

Friday was the best day out of the 3. They solved most of the issues from Thursday and the site wasn't crazy busy.

Yesterday had 10k more people and you could really feel it was at capacity. Everything was a struggle but I guess as could be expected with 80k people in that space.

Access on Thursday was a real shitshow.

BTW, everyone I talked to said Ifema was way better. Even taxi drivers said so. Anyone here who has been to both locations?

  9. Top 5 sets for me:

    - Rufus du Sol

    - The 1975. Although they didn't seem like they want to be there.

    - Jamie XX

    - Robbie williams. Was not expecting him to be on my top list.

    - Delaporte

I hope you got a chance to see The Hu, who were on at the same time and were incredible.

No, I was looking for alternatives but sadly I didn't know them.

Went to the Vibra Mahou area instead. It has been consistently the best every time I didn't have an act to see.

Yeah I loved Madcool last year too. And you do have a point. I come accross as old man shouts at cloud.

By all accounts Villaverde is a sketchy enough place at the best of time.  Something I wasn’t aware of.

I think you are taking my comments a little to literally.

IFEMA is a convention centre. Its designed to host big events. You could see the Madrid skyscrapers to the left, the Real Madrid training ground as you queued to get in. Flights from Barajas taking off overhead. It felt Madrid.

This is an area of scrubland flanked by a motorway and DHL warehouses. With overhead power lines running through it in a few directions .

it just feels very utilitarian. Very meh.

Im in my late 30’s  With no kids. When I want a taxi I’ll pay the 40/50quid just to get home. I’ll shell out for a decent hotel. I’ve been to good festivals such as Primavera 4 weeks ago where I got out of a cab and was inside with a pint in my hand within ten minutes- no exaggeration.

Next year when festival season rolls round I won’t be thinking “yeah I fancy trapsing out to that industrial estate in the back arse of Madrid.

On my mothers life , I left the venue last night and could not find a taxi. Maybe I went the wrong way but it all felt so thrown together.

And as someone alluded to earlier . Matty from the 1975 didn’t want to be there. He came out on stage. which was a tin pot, two bob stage in the corner and they were given an hour to play and he thought yeah f**k this. He even said at the end and I’m paraphrasing “We have to fulfill this festival obligation and then we will announce real shows in Spain soon, stop annoying me on Twitter asking”

Im on my way out again this evening. Going to Tash Sultana, QOTSA and Black Keys. Missus has sacked it off. Won’t do it again.
    So im going solo tonight.

I missed Franz Ferdinand last night who I really wanted to see just to get the f**k out of the place.

If you get there early today would be great if you could post a quick update re queue situation.

  12. The queue to enter is the most ridiculous thing. There is no need for that. There are +50 entry gates with more than half empty at peak times while people queue for +2km. I jumped the queue with a few others who saw what was going on. We were lucky but some others doing the same ended being chase by police on horses!

I feel sorry for people queueing for hours but there is no reason to do it. There is capacity for everyone showing at the entry. This is just poor management. Hopefully they fix it today.
