  1. Another hopeful guess, based on absolutely no evidence or logic: Siouxsie
  2. You may be right, time will tell. I'll be getting to the Garden early.
  3. Could ??? be a second set from Angel Olsen? I believe EotR originally wanted her to play the Woods. There is precedent, remembering the "secret" second set in the big top by Alabama Shakes (albeit on the same day). Might also ease the crush in the garden on the night UMO (the festival's weakest ever headliner booking imho) are on the Woods (as long as they leak it beforehand, of course). But I'd love it more if it was Explosions in the Sky.
  4. Re: the FI sub spot. So given it's ??? rather than tbc we think it might be a surprise rather than a late addition. It could therefore be someone special. Someone who is themselves of headline status, but maybe couldn't be announced before for contractual/negotiation reasons, maybe. And someone who hasn't been announced for any other festivals. Perhaps also someone who has their own tour coming up, so has a live show ready to go? I can't think of anyone who ticks more of those boxes, including the one I just made up, than PJHarvey. I know that's hoping for a lot, but fk it, I'm going to hope anyway. Unless anybody has any inside info to suggest it's impossible?
  5. To clarify then, the only reason I have felt it necessary to engage is because I have returned to this forum after a long break to find you still doing the same “you said ABC, so you mean XYZ” thing to other people. That is what I am reacting to. Not the stuff from years ago. You are the one bringing that up, and you are still misquoting and misinterpreting. “You said the line up was weak because they were enforcing women headliners.” No, I did not say that, and it was not my point at all. And this is the problem, you don’t just “elaborate and expand and interpret”, you make assumptions about what people mean, and then judgments based on those assumptions, without attempting to gain clarification. You don’t have to just “repeat what others have literally posted”, but you can’t just make stuff up either. I don’t want anything from you. OK, maybe to stop seeing you misrepresenting what I and other people have said. No need.
  6. I completely own what I said, and stand by every word. I won’t own what your twisted logic turned it into. To state, as you have, that I ever said there were “too many women at the festival” is an out-and-out lie. Which makes you a liar. You take something someone has said, twist, strip out any nuance, distort, exaggerate and falsify, then accuse that person of saying what you have turned it into so you can finger-point and vilify. It’s clearly a thing you do, you did it to noisenoise recently. What you do is transparent, but what I don’t understand is why? What do you get out of it? Why do you feel the need to place yourself on some spurious moral high ground by misrepresenting other people’s views so you can set yourself in righteous opposition to something that was never said in the first place? Are you so desperate for validation? Are there not enough real battles to fight without making up your own to make yourself look like the good guy? Is your self-esteem that low? Often the case with liars. Now there’s a case for therapy. (Apologies to bystanders btw. If this response seems a bit strong it’s because I very much mind being called a misogynist. And I'm not a fan of liars.)
  7. I wouldn't worry about robith mate. He likes to accuse people of saying things they never said. He thinks it makes him look good. It doesn't.
  8. ...proving my point perfectly. You don't get criticised for what you say, you get criticised for what some people choose to believe you said.
  9. I took it the way I think you meant it, that it's quiet music likely to be talked over by the garden-dwellers. But my experience of this forum is that if you say anything remotely controversial there's always someone ready to translate it into whatever they think you meant and throw it back at you as if you said something completely different. Careful, now.
  10. I know this festival has been mentioned before, but they seem to have added a few more names. It's the weekend before End of the Road. We've got King Gizzard, but what are the chances of getting a few more? OhSees, Dry Cleaning, Shame, Crack Cloud, Les Savvy Fav, Nilufer Yanya, Black Midi, Panda Bear & Sonic Boom, Porridge Radio, Snail Mail, Squid. Any of those would pep things up a bit (though a few played last year, so unlikely).
  11. I can't believe YYYs or PJH wouldn't have been booked if they were available (and within budget). Can't go along with the idea of Blondie, it's not the Isle of Wight after all. And many of the rest of your first list have played before. The "leftfield" list, fine, but as main stage headliners? Nah. And if we're opening up a whole new avenue of pop stars I may as well go to (insert your choice of name from endless list of mainstream festivals). I agree with your posts about the weakness of the lineup as a whole btw. We have come to expect better.
  12. I have no idea what UMO are doing headlining, so with you there. But female artists who would fit with EotR, are big enough to headline, and haven't already done so? Name names. Oh, and they would have to be available, affordable and not subject to exclusivity clauses.
  13. Interesting. A few years ago, I was virtually run out of town for daring to suggest on this forum that there was a dearth of female acts at headline level (specifically after we had just had Joanna Newsome headlining for the second time and St Vincent for the third time within not many years). I'm not sure how Simon Taffe can be blamed for this just because he has recognised it. I don't think any other festival has gone to such lengths to at least try and achieve an even gender split. But still, he's a bit off-message, so let's get him!
