i feel so sorry for younger people - back in the day we were out at gigs all the time, multiple gigs a week - these days i couldn't afford to go to a gig a month - and even if i could i wouldn't pay it on principle.
its just completely f**ked.
Nah, not having this. It's only true if young people want to see the actual same bands you were watching decades ago. (And why would they want to do that?)
There's plenty of great gigs going on with new interesting music at a whole range of venues for ten or twenty quid.

I won't be going but I hope next year's line up is far better than this years.
Thank you, that's very selfless of you.

If you get the timed out thing after approving payment details then just hit 'back'. Took me back to card entry (without re-queuing), and worked the second time!
Wish I'd realised that before I went back to the ticket selection page and started again. Accidentally bought double the amount I meant to.
Oops.

I had been thinking Harvey might just about be within the upper end of EotR's range. But then I remembered how much I'm paying to see her on her own tour this month and I thought, maybe not. Be great, though.

Dull bloke in old band t-shirt here.
Top ten sets (in chronological rather than any other order): Deerhoof, Fat Dog, Bodega, Yeule, Mabe Fratti, They Hate Change (though I only caught the end), The Courettes, Charlotte Adigery & Bolis Pupul, Teke::Teke, Panic Shack.

I mean if you're gonna put the tin hat on then you probably at least want to know the difference between cashless payments and digital currency.

Anyone got any suggestions for an alternative to eotr? Looking for something a bit smaller in size with similar music, thanks.
I'm on the lookout for something to do in addition to EotR. Ideally much earlier in the season to bookend the summer.

Superlative weekend as ever.
The good - and this is worth stressing in light of the stick they got for it: the line-up. I was in the same boat as many others when it was first announced, in thinking that there was less than usual that I knew towards the top of the bill. But what we got when it came to it was the best, most interesting and most diverse line-up we've had in the ten years I've been going. It was tremendous, so many great acts in genres I don't listen to at home and that I'd never have discovered otherwise, so much of it international. Also worth reminding ourselves that they've added more stages since covid to increase the range further - as far as I know they were under no kind of pressure to do that and could instead have put that money higher up the bill to make more headlines.
Can't give them enough credit for being willing (and evidently able) to do it that way despite the criticism and the commercial risk. Anyone who cares about music and musical diversity should be lauding them for that line-up regardless of how well it suited their own tastes. It'd be a real shame if they gave in to the naysayers and went back on it. I don't think they will.
Bad and ugly: nothing worth mentioning.

Three acts nobody wanted to see replaced by three acts nobody wants to see. The wheel turns, the world is in balance.
I know I wasn't the only one looking forward to Ela Minus.

So Brigitte Calls Me Baby, Be Your Own Pet and Picture Parlour added to the line-up, with Ela Minus, Heartworms and Laundromat all out. Several names out from the comedy as well. But nothing yet on the Saturday mystery act.

Gravity's Rainbow is brilliant. But the only way I actually managed to read it in the end was to take it with me on a week long train journey.
-
Can't say that makes a lot of sense to me. Just had a look at tixel and can't see any tickets there anyway - did you mean twickets?
They have a quite a few, and the blurb seems to tell you the tier full price originally paid, either upfront (unless stated otherwise) or combined total of deposit and balance.
(What they're willing to accept is another thing entirely.)

I am excited. And also sending music suggestions to my sister and brother-in-law, who are coming for the first time. I know I'm going to have a pretty full-on five weeks at work between now and then, though, so I'm putting it to the back of my mind for the moment.

Me neither. Not much in common apart from their both hyped female-fronted acts who could be called indie (TLDP less so than WL). Rhian from WL has been around for years, TLDP are entirely new (AFAIK), and they don't sound much alike. TLDP have had nothing like 'Chaise Longue' either.
Yeah they're not particularly similar as bands.
But they're not similar in terms of industry progression either. Wet Leg's publicity / hype was driven by the strength of the first song. TLDP feels very much the other way round.
-
The more I listen to this line-up the better it gets. Trying to send a few recommendations through to my sister and brother-in-law who are coming along for the first time, and I don't want to overdo it and send them loads but I just shortlisted fifteen acts from Friday alone.

Well, it appears we're now doing campervan for the first time. What's the field like? How big are the pitches? there's four of us and it will be tight in the van so we're gonna need to throw up a tent outside for the latest back to sleep in
39 minutes ago, Mardy said:Two sizes of pitch, usually, with different pricing, but we always pitch up a tent (or two) and it's not an issue (dependent on tent size, obviously). Been in the campervan field every time (getting on for 9 or 10 times, I'm guessing) so HMU if you've got any specific questions.
For the avoidance of doubt, I'm not bougie enough to have a campervan, but my friends are. And thus I can then hassle them to make me a coffee in the morning.
Used to be the case that there was just one size of pitch and you were allowed one tent. The separation into smaller and larger pitches and only being allowed a tent with the latter is more recent - and we've made sure we had larger ones since then so not tested the rules on that one. But yeah I'm sure once or twice we've had one tent more than we should without any issue so I doubt anyone is too bothered about enforcing it all too strictly.
( @Mardy This year will be your tenth, btw. )

Also early on Friday.

Hello, and welcome.
Don't know about taxis - expensive but doable if there are a few of you, probably. I quick google suggested a couple of online fare calculators or places to get quotes but I know nothing of them to recommend one.
You are going to be a bit pushed to make it for Wilco, but I would try to take a few minutes to stock up before you arrive. The shop on-site is very limited and I don't think there's anywhere within walkable distance to get cans. (Though to be fair I've never tried to do it, might just about be a little village shop somewhere? But the nearest of any size would be the supermarket at Shaftesbury, eight miles away.) I'd investigate whether there's any supermarkets near the airport or on route that would do click and collect on Thursday evening so you could keep time to a minimum.
Sorry if that's not very helpful, others may have better ideas.

I don't have a clue. You might well be right that Ezra will headline Garden - I just wasn't sure if that was actually something that had been confirmed anywhere.

Subbed Woods last time so it's most likely she's moving up to headline.
But then she headlined the Garden the time before. I'm not sure which would be considered the step up or down.

Full details to be confirmed yet, but it appears likely that many of those playing Manchester Psych Fest on the Saturday will also be playing the newly announced (and organisationally related) Edinburgh Psych Fest on the Sunday.

Just asked someone who was there last year - "it was survivable - not a huge choice but enough to eat safely for a few days."
Mentions for the paella, pie and mash and the curry place. But no gf beer on draft and "crap for breakfast".
-
The Allah Las definitely aren't going to be Friday, btw - they've got a gig in Glasgow that night. (And then they're in Bristol Monday but nothing in between. So Sunday is most likely but of course Thursday and Saturday both possible.)

BCNR might well be there, but I'm not seeing them as potential headliners.
