Milky milky tractor! I don’t think it’s around anymore. Not only fresh milk but also a great alarm wake up call!
That's so true!
I've definitely gotten out of my tent and gone for a drink before heading back to camp to gather my things for the day.

Some of these mementos are excellent keepsakes.
The best things I've bought have been clothes. I forget where I bought them, but my kids loved their tie-dye t-shirts from last year.

Just to get back on topic, and I don't know if it's what you mean by "guitar" music, but the running order of PJ Harvey > LCD Soundsystem > IDLES as it appears in the Clashfinder would be my Friday evening pretty much 99% tied up.

One of my Glastonbury rituals used to be buying a pint of milk from the milk tractor and downing it in one as a hangover cure each morning.
Strangely enough, on no other day of the year would I ever consider downing a full pint of milk to cure a hangover.
Yeah, same. But on a hot morning after baking in a tent all night, getting out in time for the milk trailer to come round, and smashing a pint of ice cold milk back was luuuuvvvllllyyy...

Lots of love for Glade since their drop. But can the area handle much more than last year's crowds?! Remember every time I went last year it was so rammo you had sound bleed and crowd control everywhere.

Two of our group who came last year hadn't been since 2015....they said similar, we were slowly wandering back to our camp in Paines at around 3-3.30am on the Saturday night and it felt like it was 10pm with the amount of people moving around.
That's exactly how I found it. I was expecting (and also hoping, I suppose) that I'd have a relatively chilled walk back to wind down before bed.
Something I found myself doing on the Friday and Saturday morning was having breakfast with earplugs on and keeping them in for an hour just to stop the background noise for at least an hour.

Agreed but sadly it is not up to the standard of even Reading/Leeds, let alone something truly brilliant like Afterlife.
Blimey, the visuals at Afterlife do look awesome.
-
Oh and the visuals behind the bands on the main stages have improved A LOT, lol.

The biggest difference I noticed since my last time in 2017 to 2023 was how busy it was. I remember being able to find a quiet moment walking back from SEC to my tent at 3am, but in 2023 there were just people everywhere all the time. Even in the "quiet" fields like Green Futures, Healing Field etc.
Other than that, it's pretty much the same, aside from some of the venues had made way for new ones.
Oh, there's a Co-op now which is very handy if you can avoid the queues.

Personally, I choose to embrace. Leading up to the festival I watch vlogs of the years I went, looking out for things acts I saw and reminisce. I've already watched a couple from last year, currently watching the GnR set.
For the actual weekend I'll check in during the evening after the kids are in bed, crack open a couple of cans and catch up on highlights and then watch live.
At the end of the day, you tried your best to be there, and it's gutting to miss out, but you know you'll (very likely) get to go again and it was out of your control that you missed out this year.
You can avoid it too if that helps, but as others said, might just compound your misery even more.

I don't think I've ever forgotten who I actually saw, but I have seen sets and questioned my judgement to see who I actually saw. It's the bitterness of a clash when the one you plump for turns out to be average and the one you missed turned out to be brilliant.

This is what spotify playlist analyser concluded from the list that @gigpusher had shared with me of a sample of acts on the stages released up to and including 16th (so significantly not including the stages from the last 24 hours.
Make of that what you will 😉
The detail of their genres is here https://www.chosic.com/list-of-music-genres/That's a pretty cool website.
When I checked just now though, it's changed slightly. Is it personalised for each person? On the Spotify app it says "Made for (my name)", but it's also supposedly the official Glastonbury playlist.
Mine is below. Electronic has jumped up massively, possibly since Shangri-La got announced?

Not actually peed myself but I was determined not to miss any of Paul McCartney so didn’t really have any booze until just before he came on. The moment he did I felt a need to pee.
Ive always felt embarrassed and ashamed (cos it is disgusts) peeing in a cup but decided that if I need to then I would. An hour later I’m desperate and starting to scan the floor for cups - nothing. Every act I’ve ever seen at the pyramid in treading on hundreds of cups. Nothing.
so i essentially am desperate for the set to end. But it goes on and one and I’m enjoying the songs but half hating it. The encore allows me another search and I find a cup. I wait and wait until I can no longer and start going and feel it dripping out - a hole. I tense everything and stop. I find another cup and can feel it getting to the top so quickly throw it down then go again. By the time the set finishes I need another one and we are standing in an emptying field hysterically laughing and passing this cup round.
all night I was pissing every 5 minutes. Think I did some serious damage
How much ket had you done before Paul came on? Lol.

So, now all the tickets have gone, who's gonna be watching from home? I'm already planning on buying a couple of six packs of Brooklyn Pilsner and catching up/flicking through the stages live. Might even treat myself to a rum-shake if the weather perks up a bit 😅
Couple of years ago, there were quite a few people chatting and watching together through eFests. Wasn't quite the same to put it lightly, but good fun if you're not too gutted about missing out. Also, it's enjoyable to be able to flick through the stages if something brilliant is happening and you don't have to traipse through mud to check something out.

West Holts used to be (and prob still is) a standard go to before I became more organised.
My top 5 now would be:
1. West Holts
2. Other
3. SEC
4. Woodsies
5. Other

my wife calls metal "sh*t in your handbag music" maybe it should be sh*t in your tent music.
That's quite a brilliant summary, lol. It's not quite clear if it's even a positive or negative.

The town or the festival?
For the purpose of the anecdote, both would work out fine.

Caught the end of Bobby Friction's Bhangra All Stars last year before Skindred. Was brilliant, had the crowd jumping.
According to the article, "The space at Glastonbury has been described as "an alien jungle planet"."
Sounds like fun! Should fit right in to SEC.

If I had a choice, I'd prefer working in either the Park or West Holts.
West Holts because I generally like the music there the most. The Park because it's just so chilled and friendly there.
