  1. Fred Again playing a Scottish festival on Aug 26, so it would have to be the 27th if its him. Although I'd 100% be up for replicating the line up from that day at Connect - Fred, Young Fathers, Kelly Lee Owen, Biig Piig, Roisin Murphy... Lana doesn't have much announced so that's a possibility. I have been bitten before by the Frank Ocean excitement so I'm gonna guess that's a no...
  2. Looks like New Order bring added to Primavera Sound etc later today. Might be one to factor in somewhere? There surely aren't many acts left who haven't announced any shows that will be around in the summer?
  3. That is true. I am wracking my brains as to who might turn up on those as headline acts. Lorde or Bjork is a possibility as raised in here in recent days, but do we have any other strong rumours?
  4. Haim and more announced for bank holiday Monday. Confidence Man, Tove Lo, Girl in Red among the undercard. This strikes me as a little weak/light even if I think some of these acts are quite good.
  5. For me, this is the best lineup of the summer. I mean, for my tastes. Sure wouldn't you know its also the one weekend I 100% can't travel to a festival due to a family commitment! Enjoy folks. I'll be green with envy watching from afar.
  6. Id imagine we won't have too long to wait until we see who is filling out the rest of these empty days anyway. I'm hoping for not Arcade Fire myself, but we'll see. I'm in town for the Strokes and would be happy to make a weekend of it, though none of the current rumours are floating my boat just yet!
  7. I'm not sure a matter of weeks/months makes a difference here. I think people who aren't bothered by the allegations will go see them regardless, and those who have decided they can't support them anymore won't change their minds. Everyone else, those who might need the time to pass for instance, would surely be waiting a few years, rather than a few weeks! Id be surprised to see them on this bill, though not totally shocked. I just think if they're at APE, they'd be announced already. I don't see the benefit of waiting until March, for instance. I reckon they were booked for a few festivals and dropped on the back of the allegations and that's why they've got the Spain date still in the calendar.
  8. They've posted on Instagram warning of "low tier 1 tickets of all types" for The Strokes, and responding to comments just gone with "watch this space..." when asked if more will be announced soon. Pinch of salt with all the above but just passing the info along in case anyone is sitting on their hands but doesn't want to be caught by a price hike. EDIT: and all I can see on site is tier 2 tickets, both in payment plan and standard tix, primary entry etc.
  9. Quite a bit to take on board from that Q&A. Am not attending this year but will be interested to see maps and the reviews from you lot to see if I return next year (line up and real life permitting!) anyway. I would be a bit wary of the idea that the Primavera stage will be "bigger". I assume they mean the literal stage and you could see some higher profile acts on there, but they need to do something to improve the entry and exit to the stage. Sharon van Etten on day one felt unsafe, it was so busy, and even by the last day of weekend one, while there was plenty of space up the hill for Beach House and others, getting through the crowd was still tricky. So if they decided that was gonna be the spot for, say, Fred Again or something, I'd say it could be chaotic. Its a shame to lose Bits. It didn't work well last year but it was great in previous editions when it all functioned okay. It really set PS apart from other festivals.
  10. Id love this. Might pick up tix for the 26th anyway if I can.
  11. Last year, I had a very similar experience to you. Leaving early or not enjoying a few bits because of atmosphere... For me, it's a case of identifying 1-2 must sees each day and working around that. I'll usually catch 7-10 acts a day, but once I've seen and enjoyed my must sees, I don't mind if that number is lower or higher. With distances and overlaps, it's just too tricky to catch everything. So, for me, I made sure i got good spots for Fred Again, Beach House, The National, Nick Cave, Jamie xx and Caribou, and I bailed out of Gorillaz because I was in a bad spot so wasn't enjoying it and caught Idles, which was loadsa fun. A successful weekend even if my pre fest wishlist was twice as long as that. Gotta make peace with the idea of clashes and missing out at some stage if I've been going to festivals for 15+ years 😅
  12. If anyone is hitting up the Strokes presale, would you mind giving a heads up on pricing? I won't be in it until tomorrow's general sale so just curious. £80ish is what I'm expecting so...
  13. Thanks - stuck on a few tracks from each and I recognise Girl in Red and Angel Olsen already. Guess I know more than I thought!! Amyl is new to me, Black midi is a solid no. I'm not into that current brand of noisy chaos but if I recall from my one trip to APE in the past, there was a lot going on so easy to skip something I'm not into. After not really feeling a lot of the line ups for the big euro fests this year, I'm glad I can at least mark a single day event into the calendar. 😅
  14. Field Day is good. Bonobo, Jon Hopkins, Sudan Archives, SBTRKT, Fever Ray, etc... V cool. Pleased with The Strokes too. Was meant to catch them at Primavera Sound last year but they cancelled the weekend I was there. Yeah Yeah Yeahs are great too, and I'll have to dig into the undercard a bit. I'm not too familiar with a few of those names. I'll definitely get tickets for one or both of these Id say.
  15. The Strokes have been heavily rumoured for one of the days. I'd travel to London for that, so would be great if Fred Again could be the day after! I wouldn't say no to a Lana day either, but would be totally depending on time.
  16. Jai Paul! JAI PAUL!! Id have thought that would get a reaction. Hopefully not just a one off. Biggenius is interesting too. New album, I wonder?
  17. I'm surprised at how few names I recognise on there. I knew I wasn't very up to speed with new music but I didnt think I was this out of the loop. Gotta stress I'm not saying that with any pride or bragging like you often see online - the dreaded "nEvEr hEaRd of ANY OF THEM" posts on social media. I'm just surprised!! I mean. Who is 'Kendrick Lamar'? ... ... Okay that was obviously a (bad) joke.
  18. I agree. I think all festivals are moving more central to guarantee ticket sales. it's drawing in a crowd and pushing out another. Ive no issue at all with a festival being an 80k festival with popstars on the top line, but my preference would be a 30-50k gig with smaller acts. But there seems to be a lot more of the former now, and costs go up accordingly. There's nothing wrong with big pop shows, but there's also nothing wrong with an indie rock fest, a hip-hop fest or a metal fest. IMO...
  19. I know there are other extras in BCN vs Porto, but when you boil it down to that, it doesn't look great... I won't do either next year, I don't think. Porto looks more manageable if I change my mind though. A lot cheaper and smaller crowds appeals to me too. Hopefully I'll be back in 2024.
  20. This is exactly where I am too. It's good value for sure, but I think I'll leave it off. That said, that Wednesday is great for a short day - Kendrick, Baby Keem and FKA Twigs is an excellent trio.
  21. Anyone else forget that noon in Portugal is also noon in the UK, and not 11am? Nope? Just me? Chat to ye in an hour... 😂
  22. What are our chances of seeing a pre-Christmas announcement here? I had expected one, but it's cutting it pretty close, especially with all the other gig/festival announcements in the last fortnight which probably sweep up a lot of the Christmas stocking filler marker. Has anyone heard any rumours about announcements dates or anything?
  23. To go from Beck, Pavement, Tame Impala, Nick Cave, Gorillaz and Interpol to, say, the Pet Shop Boys, Blur, St Vincent, and, say, Loyle Carner, Christine and the Queens would be a bit of a decline in status IMO. I like all those acts but for the tenth edition, I'd be hoping for something special. Anyway, like you say, it's just speculation at the moment so we'll see soon what they've got in store.
  24. Does Porto have much recent history of getting its own standalone headliners? Or are we more likely to see something like St Vincent and the War on Drugs bumped up into the top spots, alongside Blur and the Pet Shop Boys? Do we reckon the Fred Again, Four Tet side of it transfers too? And some decent slots of Pusha T and Loyle Carner too? I'll be surprised to see Depeche Mode as they announced all their dates together earlier in the year, and I don't think Calvin Harris or Kendrick would be bankers either but I guess I wouldn't have had much luck predicting the Barcelona and Madrid line ups either if I'd been asked to!
  25. The weak remark wasn't directed at you, but at me. For me, Depeche Mode headlining a festival in 2023 is weak, but someone on here will straight-up call to my house and break my windows for that. 😂 There's a clutch of acts I'd have paid for this summer at any festival, really. But few of them are turning up anywhere just yet. And lots of them are acts that are on the circuit regularly too, I've just missed them, or not seen them for a few years. Its no harm. I'm hoping to be in a position to try out lots of one day festivals too next year. I'm UK-based presently, so I should have options! And anyway, I'd have to chuck all plans in the bin if Sault announces a tour/residency anyway.
