  1. If I was heading along, id be going to Actress, Sudan Archives, Art School Girlfriend, SBTRKT, and Fever Ray. Not sure how that works out clash wise, but some great stuff on the list.
  2. I've been really enjoying the new Jungle album since I stuck it on yesterday morning. I won't be too upset if I don't make it along that day, but if I do, id be in for a really good time with them, Erykah Badu, Blessed Madonna, 070 Shake... It remains a very weird choice for a festival with such a large capacity, but if that was a day at, say, End of the Road, id be thrilled I'd say.
  3. I had zero sound issues when I went previously too, but also missed the Strokes day last time.
  4. Agree with all of this. I'm happy with the lineup of the Strokes day, I'm not bothered with the others but I'm not attending so that's fine. But it does feel as though they've just gone with a giant shrug emoji on the social media build side now.
  5. There seems to be hardly any engagement on any of their posts on social. On Instagram, most things are picking up what looks to be a few dozen likes, at most. Its very strange though. We're only 3-4 weeks out and they're still going with generic posts rather than new announcements, or even details like site maps etc. "who is going to see barbie this weekend?" with a picture of Haim, something about a creative writing competition for children, something about photography in the park, and "happy birthday stormzy" are just a few of the recent highlights... Whereas the additions to the Strokes day had a few hundred likes by the looks of it. I know not everything is gonna pop but it's really flat in terms of drumming up anticipation IMO.
  6. They booked big pop headliners before Madrid too. I'd say expect at least one a year - I don't think it'll be Coldplay, and I'd say the Killers aren't too likely (but far from impossible), but 2022 had Dua Lipa, Megan Thee Stallion, 2019 had J Balvin, Miley Cyrus and was meant to have Cardi B, 2018 had Migos (albeit they cancelled) and Lorde. The planned events in 2020 and 2021 had popstars in the line ups too. Every major festival has more of a sprinkling of pop and hip hop than it did five and ten years ago. It's because it's popular and shifts tickets. PS is no different there. If they want to sell 80,000 tickets, they can't repeat 2011, 2012, and 2013 (even if those top lines were way more to my taste than more recent editions).
  7. I won't post them in case anyone doesn't want to see in advance, but the Strokes setlists coming out of their shows in Hong Kong and Thailand is looking very much to my taste. Always gonna miss a few songs off it, but if the APE shows were identical, I'd be pretty thrilled. Really enjoyed exploring the undercard too. Julie, Highschool and Picture Parlour all on my list now too.
  8. I haven't been for a few years but when I did go, it was in the week of the festival. Maybe the Monday or Tuesday. Great little fest when I went. I don't live in Ireland anymore so won't be there again, but would recommend.
  9. I can't say for certain, but I'd be surprised at BOGOFs for this day at least. Tier 1 tix sold through pretty quickly as far as I recall. That's not to say you won't have resale options in secondary markets etc. I paid full price as its the only one I'll attend this year.
  10. This would be good. Timetable and clash dependent, for the Strokes day, I'm just hoping for the Walkmen, Amyl & the Sniffers, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and the Strokes. I've for four or five others I'd happily work into the schedule if I can, like Girl in Red, but I won't panic if I can't see them. Stuck on a playlist earlier and I like the sound of Julie, Be Your Own Pet, The Lazy Eyes, High school, Hotwax, and Picture Parlour. Its a stronger lineup than I had thought, I think!
  11. I only attended this in year one. How were the timetables last year? Am I realistically gonna be able to catch 5-6 acts in full, or is it all overlapping so I'll be parked at the main stage anyway? Obviously that depends how they split it out on the day but you know what I mean. I hope.
  12. +1 for the Walkmen. Happy with that now.
  13. Based on no evidence whatsoever, I've convinced myself they'll announce this week or next week as whoever is being added was at Glasto and they might wanna ride the hype train. 🤞 As I've said before in here, I'm happy my lot as it is. But I'm looking forward to seeing something new too.
  14. These highlights packages on BBC one and two have been surprisingly good. I was expecting a re-tread of the biggest acts, but I've seen some really cool stuff on here. Sudan Archives, The Comet is Coming, Fever Ray, Hot Chip, and now Obongjayar. Totally new to me but really cool (is he the guy in the new Fred Again.. song? Or is that a different Obong?) At least the people who won't spend the weekend delving through the player (or perhaps can't) are still seeing a little bit of variety.
  15. This bodes well for the idea of a compromise at Madrid. I'm still not sure they would go for wholesale changes at the festival, but they've shown in south America that they're pretty willing to adapt of an event demands it. I didn't attend any of them this year. For next year, it's looking like Porto or Barcelona (line up dependent of course) but I just don't see the benefit to Madrid, if I'm travelling from overseas anyway. But if they changed the festival and made it a different proposition entirely, maybe I could see the reasoning.
  16. I don't think anyone doubts her quality. Its just whether a festival that had Kendrick Lamar, Blur and Calvin Harris this year would see her as a suitable headliner next year. Its the beauty of Primavera. They probably would. But the same probably wouldn't be said about Werchter or Glastonbury or those mega fests in other countries. Fwiw, I don't think PJ Harvey is a banker for any fest next summer as she's doing a specific intimidate venue tour this time, so it's probably a total different production. But maybe by the time next summer comes around, she will have cooked up something else. If I was to bet today, I'd say... Sza, the Cure, Pulp, and The Chemical Brothers, with a Spanish language act (I'm not well versed in this area) and maybe someone quite poppy, but I don't know who. Covering a wide base.
  17. No chance yet, that's 100% guesswork. If we do end up with those clashes, it's purely a coincidence the poster got them right. I wouldn't worry. Not yet anyway.
  18. If your wishlist fest was announced, I'd be there with bells on. No more word of Sault since they made some noises about live shows, is there? Hopefully soon. I reckon we're more likely to get a London residency in a small to medium sized venue for 3-5 days rather than a full tour, at least at first, but hopefully they go all out and announce a full tour of their own shows this winter and then festivals next summer.
  19. Sufjan. Sufjan. SUFJAN. Please! He doesn't strike me as the anniversary tour (or any f**king tour) type, so we won't mark it up as the big 19th anniversary of Illinois...
  20. I would imagine it would depend on individual contracts agreed with artists. Could be partial pay up front, and the remainder after they play. But my experience of this would be that the act and/or the festival would have insurance to cover these sorts of eventualities and while it might take a little longer for them to be paid, ultimately no one would be losing out. Except the punter of course. But who thinks about them in these situations. 😢
  21. Lager has quite a sleepy effect on me too. It's my go to if I'm at the pub, but if I'm at a festival, it's rum, wine or gin to keep me bopping away. Also, and this is very boring, but moderation (and coffee). My body can't switch from a regular 9-5 and normal sleeping pattern to my PS pattern without some work, so gotta cut some corners. Other, eh, substances are available but have never been my bag so identifying the late night coffee spots is usually a priority for me when the map comes out.
  22. Yikes, that's an absolute nightmare for everyone who has travelled. I've been hit by a few band cancellations in my time but an entire day... I can't even imagine. My sympathies to anyone affected. For me, it's the strongest day and I'd hope some of the acts are rescheduled throughout Friday or Saturday if schedules allow. But I don't know how possible that would be.
  23. They certainly feel like the safest bet at this stage. Tour starts this week, right? Although I feel like this time last year, we were touting what seemed like guaranteed shows from the Arctic Monkeys or Bjork, so PS does often find a way to surprise us.
  24. I think it's a nasty move. It's like when Metallica fans used bottle and boo support acts. It doesn't make you cool. I don't like Maneskin, I wouldn't have gone, but if I'm stuck there for any reason, I just don't need to engage, I don't need to ruin it for someone else who might be having fun.
