  1. I'm not attending this year but am still enjoying keeping on here for tips and recommendations. Specifically, thanks to whoever it was that flagged Mandy, Indiana, and Model / Actriz this week. Two new names for me that I'm really enjoying! The joys of PS - always something to find.
  2. Full details posted on Instagram now - May 6 - bookings for VIP ticket holders May 8 - bookings for regular ticket holders May 10 - bookings for non ticket holders Details about deposits etc all on there too. Its 9 slides. You'll forgive me for not re writing it all. 😂
  3. The National indoors is a different beast to the National outdoors. I've seen them at PS few times, at festivals elsewhere, and indoors half a dozen times. Far far better in a smaller space. Worth trying for tickets if you're in the city, id say. Albeit the likely Phoenix clash is a bit of a downer id say, given the National play again.
  4. Don't take this as gospel on policies - but Mitski just posted on her Instagram that "all ages are welcome". So... Might be in luck.
  5. Entire European and UK tour is sold out. I'd say there's plenty of unmet demand.
  6. Huh this is pretty cool - I have no experience of bringing a kid (or being 15!) to APE so I'm no help, but I hope they can make it work. What a great gig experience it would be at that age.
  7. I didn't clock that. Yeah, if I'm in London that weekend, I'll prob opt for PJ and Big Thief over Mitski, really.
  8. Mitski is great. Not too keen on that undercard but if I'm in London that weekend, I might make an effort to get over. With that last announcement, what's the overall feeling about this year's event? Stronger/weaker than last year? Feels very much a case of trying to mint the next generation of headline acts in the case of Mitski, Loyle Carner, and Kaytranada.
  9. Mitski has just posted that she has "festival news tomorrow" with her location set to UK. Could be? She's in the US from August 27, but the full European tour (which currently ends at Primavera Porto on June 6) is sold out, including four London and two Manchester dates. Edit - obviously only likely if the date is the 18th. If it's the 26th, that'd be very tough. London 26 and Detroit 27!
  10. Madrid and Porto took the brunt of the rain. Enough for the next decade I think!!
  11. There's no Ciutat equivalent for this, right? There's no mention on the poster and the dates don't allow for it, but I happen to be in Porto a few days before it takes place so just double checking!
  12. I think there's a good mid range here. Headliners are flat (IMO) . But even those acts that I think are decent (say Idles or Jamie xx or Lankum) are either at PS or played it very recently.
  13. Yeesh. That seems ambitious. So much for my hopes of Vampire Weekend. 😂 With Jungle and Dermot Kennedy last year, and Kaytranada and the Postal Service/Death Cab this year, I have to say APE is not predictable. I guess the cut off for what justifies a successful day of sales may be quite different to what we'd expect. At least in the case of cheaper acts.
  14. You may have spotted but VW has announced a fairly extensive US and Canada tour across the summer months. There's plenty of gaps in there for additional dates so can't rule out a UK one but certainly feels less likely than it did a week ago. PS must be paying them quite a bit if they're only in Europe for one gig - back in Texas a week later so it's definitely not an extensive trip over anyway! Love the new songs.
  15. Nothing to get my pulse racing there. The good acts have been touring on and off in the last few years and there's plenty of bad to balance them out. I wasn't exactly heading there anyway, but it's always worth keeping an eye in case of a Jai Paul ish surprise. Nada this time out.
  16. This setlist (just the link to avoid spoiling for people) is incredible. https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/sault/2023/the-drumsheds-london-england-3ae6117.html Gutted to miss it.
  17. Paddy whackery is a nonsense descriptor when talking about Lankum. Perhaps youre looking for a different term, but to suggest they're inauthentic, or stage Irish, is frankly ridiculous. I spend about two thirds of my year in Ireland, and they're held in very high regard there too. Sold out shows all over the country, Choice Music Prize winners in 2017 (and I'd wager in 2024 too) and glowing reviews from every publication of note. Not sure any of what you say stacks up, other than you don't like them. Which is fine... But don't pretend Lankum is some foreign curiosity. All that being said - for me, they're an act I'd rather see indoors than outdoors. So placement is crucial, I think.
  18. 1) this is certainly more fun than talking about arcade fire, or predicting another headliner gets added. 2) I'm so out of touch, I genuinely didn't realise these weren't band names the first time I scrolled through. 😂😂 Thought it read like an excerpt from the Quietus end of year best of list. Theyd love Kiko and Manmar.
  19. Its rare that you can look at a line up and say there isn't a single thing you'd go and see. But wow. That's dreadful.
  20. If I had been planning to go, I'd have had accommodation lined up. I'd 100% have cancelled that last night after this social post and started looking elsewhere. I mean, it's one thing if it was a rumour reported in media or something, but a clear statement from the festival on socials would prompt a heap of people to change their plans, surely? At the very least, they'll have lost a few attendees but, honestly, that festival seems to find ways to outdo its absolute chaos every year. Next year, they won't even announce. They'll just turn up on site in July with zero fans present, and Taylor swift and pearl jam on stage and post on some outdated social platform like MySpace that tickets are free, you just need to get here before they finish playing.
  21. This is a decent read (if a little light on depth) but does shine a light on the challenges facing bookers everywhere. Most of the users of this forum lived through a wonderful era of festival line ups in the last decade or two, but the reality is everything is more expensive now and costs have to be cut in some areas. Add in the competition factor of more festivals and standalone artist concerts because live music events are such a big deal for generations of people who no longer spend money on physical media (or at least not as much as they used to) and it's no major surprise that we're in the shape we're in with dead cert acts going elsewhere (or not appearing at all).
  22. For anyone (like myself) holding out for some Sault shows, it looks like the live event is a one-off, a new album which will only be performed once. A post on Instagram today suggests as much anyway.
  23. Very strong undercard IMO. Might have to pencil this one in. For me, it's a case of travel to Ireland for Lcd with Idles and young fathers, or travel to London for Pixies, Jai Paul, Floating Points and Sofia Kourtesis. Not the worst choice to have to make.
  24. I was convinced the LCD omission was due to them being in Europe in August. But now they've announced ireland for June (albeit, late June) It still may not work time wise, but it is a little unfortunate.
  25. Not sure if this scuppers the Lcd to APE talk but they've just announced a show in Dublin (with Idles and young fathers) for June 26. Might make them less likely for an August gig, but maybe not if they've still got the French show booked in.
