    The Killers

How long it might be until they're back is a more pertinent question... Full piece, as is often the way, got copy/pasted to Reddit, saying that they've scrapped a new album they had been working on and Brandon Flowers is wondering whether he wants to start making more stripped-back fare similar to Pressure Machine. It is also noteworthy that in the interviews done for the new song that came out on Friday, Flowers said a big announcement is being made in a few weeks that he can't give too much away regarding just yet.
  2. Given some of the impressive saves Jose Sa pulled off for Wolves yesterday, it's not been for lack of trying. But yeah, they're in deep sh*t.
  3. He apologised for grabbing his crotch in the box next to Spain's Queen and her daughter, not for the kiss. Given Rubiales' suspension by FIFA, an investigation into his conduct coming from the Spanish government, the resignation of the coaching team, criticism from both managers of Spain's men's and women's team (an about turn given both were applauding his speech wailing about fake feminism), a team boycott, claims the Hermoso family have been harassed by the Spanish FA to withdraw their comments about it being non-consensual, multiple other allegations about his conduct and more, it's not just a social media firestorm anymore imo.
  4. Tbf they've already got their 2024 UK stadium tour out there and feel like they are at the very least a possibility for Glastonbury. So can guess they're not gonna do trips for both, at least, not this time.

    2024 Headliners

Which is weird to me given I think the two Everything Not Saved... albums were better and they sold out a bigger tour off the back of it. But equally Fender looks to have just pushed on big time.
  6. I think the fact that the entire backroom team of the Spanish FA women's team except for their unpopular manager and that Rubiales got suspended by FIFA from all football for 90 days hints it's being taken seriously by more than just Twitter/X users. Although Spain's men's national team manager going from applauding Rubiales' defiant "I'm not f**king leaving" speech on Friday to releasing a statement condemning him earlier has some nerve.
  7. That was my view of the 2019 show tbf. I'd already felt the sound was weak for Interpol on the second stage before The Strokes and much as I liked The Strokes' set that evening, I felt it wasn't loud enough. Although weirdly the best sound was right at the very back.
  8. There may be a point there. Comedian Josh Widdecombe lives in that area of London and was asking on Friday night for things to watch on TV to drown out The Strokes.
  9. Whatever promoters do Hyde Park seemed to keep hogging them given their 2009, 2011 and 2017 visits, plus a 2013 run at Wembley. Saying that I thought they might do it in 2018. Instead they did Latitude which was a bit of a surprise.

    The Killers

Yeah they brought one up at Lollapalooza Paris 5 years ago when I went and my first thought was "I haven't played drums in 3 years and probably could do better"
  11. London park venues have quite strict restrictions in general right? I don't particularly like Finsbury Park or Hyde Park as I feel their sound is never quite as full-on as other venues. Maybe my earplugs exacerbate that though.
  12. That main stage run of Strokes-Pulp-National-Jimmy Eat World-Madness-Two Door reads like something I'd have enjoyed had I had the money to do a full weekend at Reading 2011. Shame.
  13. Somebody spotted a sign by the stage at Reading that The 1975 will be announcing this week extra UK/Europe dates for 2024.
  14. I had been intrigued but not by enough as I felt that the sound for The Strokes (and several stages in general) was rubbish at APE in 2019. I see that's not changed, or at least, bad for one side of the stage during The Strokes' set.
  15. I think the fact the entire squad that went to Australia for the tournament have declared intention to boycott and a fair number of men's players past and present have been critical means this is kinda getting overshadowed. How much of a shame that Spain's women's team do something remarkable and the following week is dominated by talking about a man behaving badly.
  16. It was Mike Dean in the same interview, both of which concerning a decision not to send off Cristian Romero near the end of the Chelsea v Spurs game this time last year that ended up with Conte & Tuchel having a full-on slagging match on the touchline. Talk about throwing petrol on the fire.
  17. Apparently FIFA and the Spanish government will now be conducting investigations into Rubiales' conduct, while some male players have said they won't play for the national team. So, this bellicose defiance probably hasn't helped his case.
  18. It wasn't very well advertised if they were doing iPlayer coverage tbf. There a chance that Foals will be broadcast then?
  19. I was wondering why his Instagram was saying that. There you go.
  20. I didn't get that reference but it doesn't surprise me given such turns of phrase being a common thing in that era.
  21. I look forward to seeing if they play Undisclosed Desires and Madness to a crowd of confused metalheads.
  22. What's that phrase - fool me once, shame on you, but teach a man to fool me and I will be fooled for the rest of my life? (Bonus points if you get the reference)
  23. Just noticed, si. I know that's been an on/off thing for years - think way back in 2012 they were playing Mr Brightside as an opener quite frequently.
  24. The setlist I'd seen most recently had Human first and Brightside last.
  25. I mean, they did sell out a large-scale UK stadium tour last year (I should know given I was at the Coventry date). But the general thing is just a mess. Do we expect to see a big change for 2024 or is the buzz that they're just gonna keep on plodding along with this format?
