Electro love is the big rectangle just passed British Airways (same side) if you're walking towards main arena
-
I've signed up for Liftshare which apparently will get me parking closer to gates. I'm basically giving a friend a lift and so he signed up for it and we paired up via the Liftshare link giving me free voucher to show at parking entrance to get the closer parking. Easy.

Thanks, I'll give them a listen via YouTube, Spotify etc.

Any ideas what type of music is playing in this area, I don't know the artists. It's says Smirnoff House but is it House / dance?
-
We're travelling from Christchurch, just down the road from you. On the Saturday (gold theme day) if you see a man in robot leggings, Upper torso sprayed gold, wearing a top hat come and say hi. Have a great time.
-
No, generally loads of space apart from in main arena. Bars in main arena have queues but other bars in other more minor stages easy to get served, we spent most time away from main stage in random areas. it's nothing like the size of Glastonbury. camp site to main stage 20min walk, and you're not pushing through people, unless you wanna get to stage front.
-
That's fine, always been loads of flags in camping area. They just don't want them in front of the stages.
-
They sell most drinks, there are loads of bars away from the main arena giving good choice
-
Whether you consider the drinks expensive depends where you come from in the country . Pints were £4.20, cocktails £5-£8 last year. Pretty normal from where I travel from (Dorset) . I normally sneak in my own clear spirits through security in a 500ml water bottles (part of the fun) , soft drinks around £2.50 for standard 500ml bottle. Sometimes I wish I did drugs, far cheaper over a whole weekend.

Giving us the stage times would be good. We'll just have to wait. Never really been keen on this stage in the past but this line up looks great this year. so many potential clashes in my head already, think I'll just be winging it on each day as usual rather than over planning it.

Also I know the lineup has got a lot of stick but personally I feel this is the best UK festival lineup this year except maybe TRNSMT. There's plenty I want to see on each day
Thursday
T-Rextasy - First concert I ever went to were these in Bournemouth, fantastic tribute act
The Wombats - Seeing them next week at the Guildhall, love their new album and I'm very happy they're opening the festival
Friday
Judas - Saw them open the main stage at Leeds last year, thinking they may do the same here this year
Bang Bang Romeo - Don't know much about them but heard a lot of good things
Tom Grennan - Expecting him to be one of the highlights of the festival, his voice is incredible
Circa Waves - Saw them last year, T-Shirt Weather is one of my favourite summer songs
Feeder - Never had the chance to see them but I'm hoping they don't clash with anyone
Nile Rodgers & Chic - Again hoping they don't clash, saw their glastonbury set and it looked incredible
The Script - Their first album is a masterpiece although I'm not a big fan of their new album.
Kasabian - Saw them headline Leeds last year and although it will probably be the same set I'd happily see it a second time
Saturday
Jessie J - One of my favourite pop artists, remember her being huge when I was younger, around 2011/12
Kodaline - Listened to them more and more since they were announced and getting more and more into them
Blossoms - Think they're a little overhyped with only one album but still a pretty unique sound, even if a lot of songs sound the same
James Bay - Hoping his new stuff doesn't take too much of a pop sound, much prefer the acoustics of his new album
Liam Gallagher - I love Oasis and was lucky enough to get tickets to his tour last year, hoping his voice is still alright by the time June comes around
Depeche Mode - Too young to properly appreciate them but I still know enough of their songs to be excited to see them
Sunday
Ten Tonnes - George Ezra's brother, sounds very good and I think he's been supporting both Stereophonics and Tom Grennan recently
Hudson Taylor - Another acoustic band but really enjoying listening to them, especially "Run With Me"
Travis - Expect them to play "The Man Who" in full as they're going on tour to celebrate it, although I know there's a potential clash with The Killers
Sigrid - So energetic, saw her open for Oh Wonder at Brixton in November and I'm excited to see her again
Camila Cabello - As far as I'm aware she seems to be an exclusive, and a good one at that. Havana is amazing
Manic Street Preachers - Another band like Feeder that I've known for ages but never seen, looks like they're subbing too which should be good
The Killers - Biggest pull for me personally as I missed out on their tour and I'm such a big fan, Mr Brightside closing the festival will be a perfect end to an amazing weekend
Great breakdown there Havors. I'm not familiar with some of the groups so good to get a bit of a heads up on how good live they are. I've told the Mrs to have Mr Brightside close my funeral, think that song will be one of the moments I manage to remember from the festival, there won't be many (that's booze related, not quality of groups)

Yes. Nothing starts on main stage until around lunchtime or a bit later even so you'll not miss any of main groups.

Still all a bit middle of the road for me, although good groups to sing along too not enough mix of music . I mean I like Travis but it's album music. Some more upbeat groups would of been good. Hipshaker tent hasn't been confirmed as returning which was always good for upbeat tunes so there's only a few groups for us who like a bit of a boogie, especially when drunk . I'll be at Cirque de la Quirk sock wrestling when Sheryl Crow is playing, way more fun!!

What time does the festival car park open on the Thursday?
-
Last couple of years "Bargain Booze" have been at iow. You preorder and pay for booze before festival, print off your receipt email and take it to their stall and collect to take to camp site . You don't have to collect all your purchase at once, they'll hold some back. prices are same as supermarkets but you can only buy in advance so watch for their link coming onto iow festival website.
With regards to age it is mixed. Last year for Clean Bandit in the big top it was mainly your age (a few thousand) and obviously if acts appeal to your age, that's where they'll be. Have fun.

Saw Chase n Status in big top around 7 years ago when they'd just broke into charts. It was dangerously full but awesome atmosphere, although it was the full group not dj set like this year. if they and chic follow each other in big top that'll be brilliant, no need to move for a couple of hours :-)

for all we know, there might have been only ten of them
I got an early bird ticket (£130) but they were only on sale for a few days before there was a notice saying the limited number had sold out. no idea how many sold. I'm sure if tickets sold massive numbers in a short time they'd be publicising this, most good PR companies would!!

That's good to hear.

Yeah I’d go from Victoria just just trying to justify splashing out £300 for the coach and tickets Is hard at the minute
Cheap tickets are always on offer from people in the few weeks before. I think there'll be even more available this year with line-up lacking a big name crowd draw act.
-
Well some of the usual rock groups announced in Manic Street Preachers, Feeder but at least at last some originals too in Hacienda Classicals, Nile Rodgers with Chic

Even Brighton Pride managed to announce a headline act which was such a koo that it made national press (Britney Spears) . Now whether you like Britney or not it made national headlines. Great publicity. Iow announcement was more of a whimper than a bang.!!

I don't think Hipshaker was there last year which is a shame it was one of the best areas in 2015/16.
Conversation with Hipshaker on Facebook today. Annie Horne replied (iow project manager) saying they're trying to sort something - as I said all a bit last minute. Without the eclectic mix of random areas playing a mix of music the festival doesn't do it for me.
-
That's correct, Hipshaker weren't asked to be there last year despite it being one of the best areas in my view. A few weeks ago they advised me that John Giddings had said to them, when not booking them for last year, that it would only be a miss for that year. However, they're still waiting to hear about this year. Last minute notice will cause them difficulty booking acts. They had an area last year called Old Kiwi Moat which was a bit more chilled that Hipshaker, held far less people and no stage built up so you couldn't really see who was playing. Hipshaker area would be far better.

Flag poles are fine in camping, been loads in last few years. They've had the no flagpoles in the music areas for a few years now.
