I’m waiting to hear if I can get a discounted  ‘friends&family’ ticket through my friend who’s performing at glasto this year… we’ve just been told there will be a link sent to my friend/the artist to pass on to us fairly ‘last minute’.  Does anyone have any experience going to glasto on this type of ticket? If so how ‘last minute’ was last minute? How discounted was it? And aside from entry what was the offer re: access to campsites/car parking etc. Any insight gratefully received.  The not knowing is killing us 🙂

Having seen a friends band fail to get an entry for their roadie and read of many similar instances where bands cannot get additional tickets other than for themselves I wouldn't get your hopes up too much. Such tickets appear very hard to obtain.

  2. Yes Webbs Ash fills quick as it's close to the Pyramid and quite flat. Arriving lunchtime and getting to Webbs in the afternoon means any remaining space will be less than attractive. Probably next to the bogs or walkway. Both unappealling: especially if it rains and the site turns into a swamp

What sort of time do you think we would need to begin queueing to get into e.g. Row Mead or Big Ground (obviously the latest time possible the better to try and get something like a night's sleep in 😆)

If you're dead set on these fields then you need to queue overnight as they fill rapidly with the first person  through the gate.

  4. Mate had one on a camping trip once. Water never really got hot (tepid at best) as they work best on very hot sunny day, whereas we just had bright warm sunshine. The main problem I recall was finding somewhere to hang the bag for a shower. When full it's quite heavy and he couldn't hang it high enough to get anything more than a dribble out of it. Think it got ditched soon after because he never tried to use it again after the initial attempt.

Ooh I wish the coach queues were 15-45 mins! In my experience, arriving around between 7-9 on Weds I've always queued about 2 hours. But good to know that in general the main queue is longer, even for gate A. Thank you both for your help!

Have been twice by coach arriving around 8 - 8:30. Longest we had to queue was less than 30mins. Either we were lucky or you've been unlucky 🤔

Many thanks for reply! Do you have any experience of what the main queue is like in comparison to the bus queue? I've only ever arrived by coach before (either see or national express) so no idea of the comparison. I'm assuming most car drivers join gate D and can't recall from previous years where private vehicle people would join at gate A.

Arriving ca. 7:30 - 8am Wednesday and entering via at Gates A or D expect to queue for 2hrs or more in the general queue. By comparison coach queues are ca 15 - 45min.

  7. You run a significant risk of the driver refusing to carry a trolley because of lack of luggage space, so take spirit's.

And as above, Oxylers, Paines Pennards will be full by Wednesday evening so you need to look at the fields further out on the western fringes.

Oh!  So there is no second tranche as I understood it - just one tranche and the resale of those.  The received wisdom I got a few months ago is wrong 🙁.  So, there is just one opportunity to register each year, ahead of the "main sale" in October, and then it closes until after the "resale" in April?

What about the camper van tickets that I see are being "resold". In the next couple if weeks?  I see those are only available to people who already have tickets, so is the process there to find a friend who is going and ask them to buy you a camper van ticket?  It is very much a camper van ticket I want - my body is much too old and with too many ailments to be using a tent with shared toilets!

You can't get into Glastonbury without an admission ticket. Even if a friend took you in their campervan you'd just be left sitting in the campervan park outside the perimeter of the festival.

Concerned though about whether Glastonbury is for you with all your "ailments". Glasto is huge. Expect to walk up to 10 miles a day. And you will be queuing lots and lots for shared toilets in basic sanitary conditions, e.g. a bench with a hole into a communal cesspit

Thanks, both.  Unfortunately, I find the wording on that page completely opaque.  I don't know if it's that I am just too thick to be allowed to buy a ticket, or that they only want people who have been before.

I get that the first tranche has sold out, and that this week they have reselling returns from that tranche.  When is the second tranche of tickets put on sale, and how do I "register" for that?  I'm about to go on holiday for a couple of weeks and don't want to been scamper around to find an Internet café as I change trains in France and Italy!

All tickets for Glastonbury 2023 have been sold. If Glastonbury Festival is held in 2024 tickets for that event will probably go on sale in the first week of October 2023. This is what you're calling the first tranche.   In order to participate in the ticket buying process you first need to register as advised above. Only persons registered can buy a ticket and every person you buy for will also need to be registered. The registration process involves providing a passport style photograph.

Any ticket returned from the October 2023 sale will be resold in 2024 (usually April). Your termed second tranche.

Finally, sales last minutes before the event is sold out.

When I tried to buy a ticket in the first tranche a few months ago, I wasn't allowed into the online "shop" because I didn't have an account yet.  I tired to get an account, but the links just went round in circles.

The advice then was to come back for the second tranche of ticket sales in late April/May.  I am now doing that, but again I can't seem to create an account.

Anyone able to offer any guidance?

You missed it all and tickets all are sold out. If you want tickets in the future read the info on the official Glasto website concerning the ticket buying process.

Hello, does anyone know where the secret flash resales would happen (if they happen) - on the See Tickets site? Sadly a couple of our group are still ticketless after this morning's whirlwind sellout!

Not only have they not happened since 2016 but when they did you had to be extremely well prepared to catch it and even more extremely lucky to get a ticket. Previous secret resales popped up at random in May on a weekday morning/afternoon (ie during normal working hrs) lasted ca. 120 seconds

The system couldn’t be fairer. It’s that simple.

I think they’ve finally nailed it. Even if that makes it harder.

The new system is better but it still isn't a fair system. A fair system would not allow people who don't want tickets to get tickets on behalf of others who do. The new system encourages more traffic and makes it even harder to obtain tickets. If applied to the next general sale the 1,000,000 who actually want 1 of the 135,000 tickets could be fighting to get booking site access against another 1, 2 or 3 million people who are trying to get tickets on behalf of others.

I think (hope) the secret resales will return this year.

How many people will have stupid departure points they got due to panic ?

When they get payment link and have had time to think of travelling miles and hotel etc may be some who change their mind

In my previous experience on these forums it usually takes much longer than  24hrs before the "oh shit, what have we done" penny drops

Although my chances are exactly the same as they always would be, them going that fast does not leave me very optimistic for Sunday at all.

The new system which lets people try for others without the need for immediate payment is a negative for me. It causes greater traffic and reduces individual chances.

Unless you want to camp in the popular areas there is no real point in going early. If you turn up on Wednesday after midday you'll typically not experience any queueing at all and there is still plenty of camping space to be had.

Arriving Wednesday 1pm last time we drove straight into the west car parking. We then had a walk of 25mins to Gate A where we queued for approx an hour to get in. It was no problem for us arriving at this time as others set up our tents as the gates were opening. Bit of an inside job as friends were already on site as volunteers 😀

For those arriving Wednesday afternoon onwards the western fields offer space. The east side around the Pyramid fills quickly as does the fields near The Other stage, Park and John Peel

    Hola all,

It's my first year at the Farm this year, and all me and my gang have left to discuss is the glorious subject of 'Where the fuck do we camp??'.

I thought I'd set up a little thread for people to chat about where is best to camp depending on 'vibe', location, and just general shenanigans.

Have a look at Tort's  guide. It gives all the answers:

    https://www.glastoearth.com/?m=1

In general your Glasto experience begins with how and when you plan to arrive. This is the overriding factor in determining where you can camp. Popular sites near the Pyramid & Other Stage etc will fill very quickly. And people will begin queuing Tuesday evening for the gates opening at 8am Wednesday

First time at Glastonbury this year and I have read a lot of different opinions on what the best time to arrive is. We was thinking of driving through the night (driving from Hull so a long drive) to arrive early Wednesday morning, sleep in the car until the gates open and then queue. Is this the best option or do people have other suggestions? All suggestions are welcome and helpful!! Thanks

Queues will start forming at the gates on Tuesday evening and swell through the night, so by the time the gates open those just joining the queue may have a wait of 2hr+ to get in. Obviously popular camping fields fill quickest so any arrival plans start with when can we arrive and where would be like to camp.

In 2019 it was 26 to Sunday 30 June.

    In 2024 there's Sunday 30 June again.

Won't it probably be 26 to 30 June again then??

The summer solstice in 2019 was Friday the 21st making 26 - 30 2019 the first weekend after the solstice (Friday 28th being the first Friday after the solstice)

It’s always the first Friday after the summer solstice so will be 26th to 30th June 2024

The summer solstice in 2024 is Thursday 20th June so the first Friday after is the 21st

    well said.

E18 looks to be the furthest walk on the paths, unless you can cut across Pylle road from quiet and there's a gate in the tree line or something. I'll be sure to tell him what people have said.

I tried to convince him to stick it in general camping for the walking and the stubborn idiot insisted on sleeping in a bed, the logic of going to the pub is lost on me but there we are.

Thanks to you and others for the input!

The only time we ventured to the pub in Pilton on the Tuesday night it was anything but restful. It was heaving, standing room only and took ages to get served. We weren't able to get food and headed off back after a just 1 jar! Not something I'd personally repeat.
