  1. in a dream, I'd love to see Tom headline the Park.
  2. that set was SO much fun. I have video of the vomiting somewhere 🤣
  3. Eurythmics Goldfrapp King Hannah PJ Harvey Duran Duran (this is being realistic, my "not-in-a-million-years" list would be Tom Waits, Portishead promoting a new album, Missy Elliott, Neil Young, & Cher)
  4. I had about 4 friends at Newport that don't even really care about joni. One of them in the photographers pit. I was alternating between seething and tears, lol. This is certainly her victory lap. I had no idea that she had recovered from this stroke so well; she seems so happy. I don't think she'll ever tour again but maybe one-offs aren't out of the question. She apparently flew here (to nyc) for a broadway show a couple of weeks ago, so it's not like she's sitting on her hands. But it also seems like Brandi Carlisle is the Joni-whisperer. I don't think there'll be any joni without her.
  5. Elton and Black Midi would CRUSH
  6. I live in New York - but it's still a 6 hour flight to get to Washington for the show, and then I believe a 2 hour drive from Seattle to the show grounds. All in in all, not that much different from traveling to Glasto every year now that I think of it. Never miss your idols kids!
  7. I have tickets to this. Pinching myself about it daily. Joni is my #1 - never thought I'd get to see her play
  8. I saw him earlier this year in Brooklyn and he was fantastic. the set is SOLID hits all the way through, and only when you leave you think about all the hits he didnt even have time to play. Its a 2 hour show and he doesnt even play any of the lion king songs, for christ's sake (i'm ok with that, but it just goes to show how many hits the man has). I'll definitely be watching again, for the inevitable special guests, and for what will surely be an emotional night for him
  9. The Carnage stuff is way more dynamic live, I must say. Still, I think Nick could headline the Other stage. hopefully not an Elton clash
  10. ugh you're so right. I hate the thought of this
  11. I've seen Mulatu Astatke 3 times and I would love the 4th to be on the farm 😍
  12. Wow the Quietus list is surprising! I knew about half of them. Some positions are questionable imho. VERY surprised they didn't include Bjork at all. I love the Jockstrap record but no way would I put it at number 1.
  13. didn't manage to bag one, but I came very close a few times. I was able to enter registration and choose quantity, but the next page always said there was none available. Will try again in the accommodation resale
  14. i got through at 6 after and was able to add quantity, only for it to say none available. Happened a few times. still trying tho
  15. huge lack of Bjork on these lists. I've played Fossora non-stop since it came out. NIce to see that Loud and Quiet gave some love to Hinako Omori. She's a dear friend, and works extremely hard - I thought her album was stunning. Check it out if you're into ambient/electronics. Aldous Harding's record is tracking a bit lower than I would have expected. It's not exactly a new sound for her, but I think equally as good as her previous efforts.
  16. I was gifted 2 tickets to go see her play once - Yankee Stadium 2012. They were from a client of mine, and it would have been astronomically rude of me to turn him down and say that I don't like her, so I went. (plus it was free drink) 75% of her set was mimed, largely due to the fact that she is running around and dancing for most of the set. (Or, maybe there is a track vocal that is the lead, that she sings along with the track). But there were key moments when she sang live, mostly when she was sitting down to play guitar on a handful of songs. I have to say, it was VERY obvious when they made the switch; the live quality of her voice left a lot to be desired. A lot of pitchy moments on par with the Diana Ross performance from this year. I have to give credit where credit is due tho - she is in better shape physically than I will ever be, and there aren't many performers who could move around that much and sing live.
  17. June 22 here had quite a few bithdays on site including my 30th in 2011, and this past year my 41st. 2023 ill be turning 42 on the Thursday. I second the deluxe diner recommendation. We did that for the first time this year and loved it. On my 30th we went up to the stone circle and watched the sunrise.
  18. I am no Madonna fan (I actually despise her) but I don't think the low fee would dissuade her. More than anything she wants clout and to be relevant. I think she'd happily take less of a fee if it meant an opportunity to headline the most adored festival in the world
  19. I got caught in some terrible crowd crushes, particularly leaving Nick Cave. It was incredibly oversold, and felt very unsafe to me at times. I'm 6'3" and generally not phased by these things - leaving Nick we got stuck for over a half hour of barely moving. I felt extremely concerned for anyone shorter than me, who didnt have the advantage of being able to have their head above the crowd for fresh air. I think it was. a bad idea to have those two main stages side by side, rather than opposite each other like they used to be , Not to mention the beer and water queues.
  20. love the record, but it feels like it was released a million years ago to me, even though I think it was a February release.
  21. my own list would probably be similar to the Resident one, with some swapping around. I like wet leg as much as the next guy, but with the amount of quality records out this year, it's shocking to me that it's in anyone's top ten. it's a fun record. it is not, from a critical standpoint, anything revolutionary. Bravo to Just Mustard getting some recognition. It's a thrilling record, as is the Caroline record. I have a tonne of love for King Hannah too.
  22. Primavera was such a shit show this year, I don't think I'll try to go again
