Fair enough, I can understand that. Seen them before but not had the opportunity to see them live since the reform. I am in the age bracket. There are memories tied up. So I'm ticking the boxes. Maybe I'll find it boring too, but it's going to have to be someone pretty special on in the garden to pull me away.

Not understanding the Pixies complaints tbh. There is room for a big* name headliner in 4 days of the woods stage Nostalgia? trading on past glories? not necessarily a bad thing, all bands do this, plus see Stereolab, Spiritualized etc Not-the-pixies-without-kim? well, there is still time, tell her eotr is bored and I'm sure she'll be knocking black's door down *ask your average person if they have heard of the Pixies before - yeah you know the song at the end of fight club? nah sorry don't remember mate

Enjoyed the one BD I've been to, but very different feel. The low end of the bill has much less depth and quality, but on the other hand they have bigger headliners. We went the year of Hot Chip, Kraftwerk, and New Order, all were amazing in the telescope setting (esp Kraftwerk). The Science talks/exhibitions are good. Lots of people come just for the day to hit the headliner they want. Even though the telescope is cool, the rest of the arena is a bit rubbish. The food/drink is meh. If it rains it gets churned up and then there is nowhere to sit (chairs not allowed). There is a VIP bar thing. It's all wristband cashless (on balance, this actually works well, better than waving the machine in the air and hoping) But the crowd were certainly up for it and we had a great time. I'd go again for sure, but only for a headliner I wanted to see (Bjork is not that for me)

Thread lurker here. 2nd time at eotr. What an amazing time we had! The depth and variety of acts was outstanding. Everyone was super friendly and nice (it's the least littered festival I've ever been to). Lots of random chats with strangers. Seriously good food and drink. We honestly could have done it all again this morning. Stand outs for us were Katy J, Girl Ray, Hen Ogled, Stereolab, Little Simz, all of whom should have been further up the bill than they were (apart from Stereolab obvs). And of course every garden stage recovery morning (afternoon) set. And Anna Meridith, who we'd heard and dismissed, but totally kicked it out of the garden so hard, it landed in Shaftesbury at the top of the hovis hill. Complete surprise that one. Yeah there were a few queues and loos problems, but nothing compared to any other festival, you guys are a tough crowd. See you next year!

I'm fine with the idea of cashless but I do not like the data aspect. They will have the whole 4 day spend, for me and Mrs, tied to my email account and home address, together with my payment details. Plus the implication is that they will scan you on entry to certain events, so they know what you like and what you do not. Regular cashless is fine - your bank knows what you did and it is not divulged to a third party. In this case there is the possibility of using your data to target you with advertising. Now you can say 'I don't care who knows I bought a slice of pizza at 3 am' and you are free to take that view, but I find it intrusive. Does anyone have any information on what are the terms and conditions associated with the use of this data?
