  1. Yes, their strategy is weird and I understand that, after the 2023 edition (the strongest ever), many people could complain about the weak announcements so far. But we can't forget we're talking about a cheap festival (4-day ticket costs 130€ in 2024) that always books many interesting underground acts and in 2022 edition had the likes of Ty Segall, Beach House, Turnstile and L'Imperatrice as co-headliners. So I feel that having already Girl In Red, Fontaines DC, The Jesus And Mary Chain, Slowdive, Cat Power, L'Imperatrice, Sleater-Kinney and others to be announced, while not matching really much with my tastes, isn't that weak compared to the past editions.
  2. I agree with the other comments about the festival. Personally my favourite one, I always felt relaxed, attended to a lot of concerts, more than any other festival I've been, without ever being in a hurry or feeling overcrowded. Good beers, decent food, free trains and buses, 200+ concerts, lots to do, gadgets, secret shows and concerts in the town announced daily... Definitely recommended. My two cents about the lineup so far: as I wrote many times, I live in South Italy, I don't have many chances to attend to international concerts and I'm always more interested in undercards than big names, so I have to wait, as usually. Personally I'm ok with all the 7 names announced so far and I'd also gladly attend to a couple of them, but I think they won't sell many combitickets. This, combined with the lack of a really strong headliner, give me hopes on strong announcements coming during next weeks. That said, I have a bad feeling about my personal tastes and PKP: I'm mostly a listener of psychedelia, indie rock, avant-pop, post-punk, nu jazz, experimental sounds, etc... Cross-genres music I'd say. And one of the things that attracted me the most to PKP in the 2015-2019 era (when I choose to come 3 times) was that it used to be stacked of acts I love and I don't have the possibility to catch in the place I live in. Nowadays I feel it's going into a different direction, always booking diverse kinds of acts but more into specific styles (I mean, pop acts, rap acts, dance acts, classic rock acts, classic punk acts...) and every year I feel like it's gradually drifting away from my tastes, even if the ticket sales are the same, more or less. Giving the amount of good artists touring Europe next August, I'd like to be proven wrong during next weeks.
  3. It is. And it's a strange choice for this kind of festival. Wondering if some Marquee headliner could be announced as co-headliner like they did with The National in 2019 (The Smile maybe?)
  4. I'll be hoping for a strong undercard
  5. For me too. A lot of cool acts during the 5 days and that Sunday with LCD, PJ Harvey and The Smile is really classy
  6. this one is shaping good too
  7. QOTSA + Offspring + Idles tomorrow?
  8. Rock En Seine has its own resale platform but, in 2022-23, it hasn't been active until July. Hopefully it will open earlier this year but I honestly don't think so.
  9. Some new names added including Raye, Arca, Sampha. Really strong lineup for my tastes... If only it wasn't in Oslo. Hoping for PKP to share as many good names as they can 🤞
  10. Not in full, he had a 50 minutes slot. I was at King Gizz but I'm sure he made a great concert as always (saw it two times too during last tour 🙏)
  11. They're usually one of the last big festival to announce... Last year they announced the first name, Billie Eilish, on February 1st; Angele and Anne Marie on February 2nd; The Killers and Florence + The Machine on February 3rd; then a bunch of names once a week starting from February 8th to mid March; then some random announcements followed during spring. I wouldn't say this as a rule, as they change their strategy a bit every year, but I expect some names in February.
  12. Do you remember if the arena show by Imagine Dragons in the same day have been announced before or after the announcement of the Billie-day at Rock En Seine? Probably some of the potencial Billie's spectators where at ID show. In addition I'd say most of the people going to RES 2023 where happy with the weekend and choose not to pay for an expensive extra day separated from the weekend (I did so). I can imagine some more people choosing to do the 5 days in a row this year for Lana.
  13. I'd say they usually share a decent number of names with All Points East, Pukkelpop and Lowlands and a few names with Electric Picnic, Green Man, Way Out West, Oyafestivalen, Flow Festival, Sziget...
  14. Pixies will be touring UK during Rock En Seine. Slowdive will be playing La Route Du Rock the week before RES...
  15. There's an interesting hole in the summer tour by The Smile between August 14 (Poland) and August 20 (Germany). They'll be playing in March in Amsterdam-Brussels (Amsterdam show already sold out, Brussels not yet), then I could see them being announced for Lowlands-Pukkelpop.
  16. FYI I just bought the tickets for me and my GF. Final price is 91,50€ for the Golden PIT and 79,30€ for the standard ticket. Just two sectors, both standing. Hoping for some nice opening acts (besides Night Verses).
  17. Probably sponsorship matters 💵 Frecciarossa (italian high speed trains) is now the main sponsor, hopefully they'll provide discount fares for the ticket owners. It's the first time it happens in Italy for what I know...
  18. so 6 July QOTSA + Royal Blood + more 7 July BMTH + Yungblud + Bad Omens + more a lot of people could enjoy this combo
  19. Well, let's hope this won't rule Soulwax out...
  20. First announcement next Monday?
  21. looking at Sziget announcement, happy this didn't happen 😄
  22. Ok, it's clear to me what kind of crowd they want to attract. I sincerely don't understand why they still put bands like Fontaines DC, Yard Act or Big Thief in a program they have nothing to do with. Which indie rock fan would spend 300€ to go to this?
  23. Consider that Pukkelpop has always more than 200 names on 8-9 stages with a lot of variety and that rarely bets on a big classic name. More often they have a lot of quite big contemporay artists who usually play 75-90 minutes sets. Personally, they always convinced me with a strong undercard and lots to discover. That said, I agree with @DDave: at this point I can see Lana Del Rey, Fred Again.., Queens Of The Stone Age + The Offspring, a couple of pop names like Stormzy, Sam Smith or some other, and a couple of dance closers (Charlotte De Witte is almost a cert). Wondering if Pulp and LCD Soundsystem are too big and expensive to headline the Marquee (Pukkelpop second stage) like other good bands did before the pandemic or to share the Main Stage with another 2 artists, but this is probably not happening. Also expecting a few others between Idles, Fontaines DC, The Smile, The Postal Service + Death Cab For Cutie, London Grammar, Big Thief, some others I'm less interested into and maybe a couple of surprises... Also Soulwax are almost a cert (maybe not that big outside Belgium but they have an very strong live set... Last time I saw them was at Nos Alive 2016). Giving the amount of good names around during August 2024 and the ticket price growing each year close to 300€, I have my fingers crossed for a very good festival this year. I have a feeling something's gonna happen tomorrow, as they shared the new logo one week ago and the first announcement by Sziget is coming. Let's see.
  24. anyways, all of them you mentioned are playing in Belgium in early August so they're all ruled out, not coming back again 10 days later.
