Having done EOTR for the first time last year and having a blast I’m really looking forward to my first GM now the line up is here. For folk who have done both, how do the sites compare? Eg distance between stages, camping facilities, stages getting full and over all vibe. Any advice is gratefully received

All the stages are just a few minutes apart just like EOTR. The Far Out is a tented stage like the Big Top at EOTR but has one massive opening which I prefer; it doesn't become a sauna but can get muddy all the way to the stage in places. Love the GM Rising stage which can get rammed, especially if they stick someone line LDP on there. Camping seems to be all close to the arena area once you get down the hill on the  way in, which is a pain to get up with a big trolley full.

They're both great festivals; hard to split them.

  2. I’d never heard of SZA and never listened to O’Rod. Just played them both and would take Janelle Monae any day. I’m sure she won’t headline Pyramid but would still be cool on Park or Woodsies. She was great last time on WH.

Name 3 of her solo songs without looking.

Don't think it matters, Bella Donna was a great album and she does FM songs too.

Hurray for the Riff Raff have played before and have a new album out... touring UK in mid May then on to mainland Europe... could be sticking around for festival season... would love to see them back.

Think they opened the Mountain Stage in 2017; first year for me.

There was some hint about or reference to The Decemberists in EOTR’s socials I think when last year’s line up ended so they were kinda rumoured to be doing EOTR 2024 from then, but them being added to APE makes it much more likely I think.  Could be a fairly big act for EOTR - maybe a Thursday headliner or Garden headliner.

We do both festivals and I’d love to see them at either. I do think the Garden Stage at EOTR would be perfect though.

  6. HGM played in 2018, just checked and it was my first EOTR. I was really into the Heart like a Levve album at the time. It was an amazing set but I did feel slightly sad they never played Living Above the Waterline

I really like to think we could see The Decemberists fill this slot but maybe they’re too big?

Was one of the lucky ones and managed to get a ticket this morning. First timer, couple mates went last few years and the jealousy usually rips out me… this year we are all on the farm! Can’t wait.

Nice one, exciting times ahead 🙂

Well noone can say for sure that's the problem.

Could have been 80% or tickets sold, could have been 8%

I would imagine the majority could follow the instructions they're fairly simple

It was clearly doing the rounds on WhatsApp/Reddit/Discord, so all you needed was one person in a big buying block to understand it and that's their entire group sorted.

Even in a small group, if one of the six can work it out, they're sorted.

Regardless - the point is that it simply shouldn't be possible to get tickets in this way, and if it is, the system isn't suitable.

8% would be a massive amount. Have a read of WobblyPants post above. It kinda makes sense to me and may make you feel better.

I can't see how it could be worse

Thousands of tickets today clearly went via this quick access, while everyone else basically queued for nothing (and again this will be biased to large buying groups as they are more likely to find this out)

I think the system is terrible, successful or not, and every year say it should be a ballot.

Personally I think groups of up to six should have to pre-register and be linked together. That evens the playing field for everyone again.

How can you be sure it would be thousands? The majority including myself would have no idea how to do this even when handed the instructions.

Got to be a better method than have everyone waste an hour of their morning constantly refreshing.

Queue system would probably work better

Then people who aren't prepared  to waste an hour of their time would get one.

Genuinely curious - what’s so hard about the Green Man sale? It never struck me as a festival that would sell out instantly but maybe I’m way off base on that.

It’s been bad last couple of years due to systems crashing/throwing you out etc. Took me 3 hours this year. Got tickets paid and showing as pending in my bank but still managed to lose them. Eventually landed em though. Nowhere near as bad as Glasto but just irritating and time consuming. Also whoever really wants one can wait and pick up one on Twickets, unlike Glasto.

I’d disagree and say it does fold. I appreciate the overwhelming numbers but there is plenty of other platforms who handle heavy traffic in a more effective way. The majority of the time you can’t even load the page, never mind getting to the refreshing page. Then when you finally do get through, there is no hold on the tickets you have landed, pretty much every other ticketing site has an allotted time for you to secure your purchase.

Ticketmaster isn’t much better but at least you have an idea whether you have a chance or not- instant rejection is a lot better than the long drawn out gradual disappointment that we get with the current outdated see tickets system.

I prefer the long drawn out disappointment. Also all the chaos often rewards persistence.

  13. The rate of turnaround at the couple of urinal cabins was incredible I thought; never waited more than about 30 seconds to get in. Only had a couple of wees in the composts and lifted the seat then used plenty of sanitiser; left the seat up too so next person didn't think it was me who'd wee'd all over it. The composts  near where we camped were mint in the morning when I used them.
