  1. While it's not inconceivable that, with some restrictions, Glastonbury could go ahead, I think, well hope really, that moves to open up are tentative with time taken to observe possible affects. This strikes me as the logical way forward and the reason that I don't think the festival (as we know it) will take place.

Caveat: The government are shocking so logic may not apply.

yup , got tickets for that bad boy ( for next year now ) also i manage to get tix for the Pilton Party . i absolutely love the PP , its like a mini glasto ( they even open up some long drops for that authentic experience . lol )

The Pilton Party is always awesome, only done one Extravaganza (Madness + Steve Harley) and that was awesome as well, apart from the queue for the bogs.

As Ive been saying for a week or so now .... what if it weren't Glastonbury ..... but some sort of scalled back version with a completely different lineup .... it wouldn't then need to effect touring schedules but would draw enough bands that hadn't yet made plans .... tickets from June roll over till the next year 2022  .... September becomes a different Glastonbury for those that are happy with the way things are at that point .... weather it be tests on entry , masks , or proof of vaccination .... Glastonbury as a brand will sell out whatever and definitely on a smaller scale ......

I’ve said this for months but they should’ve done this.

In September come out at a press briefing saying Christmas will be different this year, you won’t be able to mix households and all be together. Then keep saying this every couple of weeks or so but every time make sure they keep on saying why and as cases rise link it back to Christmas. Make it clear it’s only one Christmas but will mean we have lots more with loved ones in the future. This makes the public aware of the situation and gets them on board long before the Christmas season; people can then make whatever arrangements they need too. It wouldn’t have been popular but would’ve saved a whole loud of heartache now and besides sometimes leadership is about giving unpopular messages at the right time for the greater good.

I don't disagree but Christmas was already going to be different, that had been made clear, we knew that and now we can all see the most current data and the current rationale and we can see why it's going to be more different than we all hoped. Maybe they should just put us in lockdown till April to cover every eventuality?

Of course they didnt, as has been mentioned they'll be labelled grinches for life. It's far more the style theyve done it in that's caused the uproar. Now more than ever people want to see loved ones and whilst the action is justified the suddenness of it all has made it a real gut punch for so many

How could've it been done better?

And what I believe is the tories knew this would happen - they knew if they would announce this, this would be the outcome.

Yes in the academic sense we can tel people they shouldn’t do it. But people don’t behave like text books say they should.

They didn't set out to look like cocks, they didn't want to be pissing on everyone's chips; things have changed and thankfully they've responded... What else could they do, what would you want them to do, ignore it?

    Disclaimer: they're all fickin useless!

What a gut punch for so many people, just remember though us Brits can adapt and overcome anything

Aye, and we've got to remember that the end is in sight.

I think we might get some smaller mini festivals on the Eavis land ... it won’t need to involve other farmers and will give them a valuable income stream ... if the big one in June Is not able to happen

Aye, though I must admit to a chunk of wishful thinking as I'm near enough to be able to easily attend all the one dayers they cared to put on (if they did).
