I know is practically impossible to know with arguments if My chemical Romance it´s a possibility but, however: what do you think guys? Also, I will love to take some names of nova and others festival like The Pretty Reckless.

Seems like it's possible, but not super likely. And it won't be a very high slot due to not being very big in Belgium. If they get announced it would most likely be in January/February along with a bunch of other names when RW starts filling up the smaller slots.

Think Strokes demand a headlining spot. I don't recall them EVER playing a Belgian festival, so it would be a very rare booking.

I don't dare to hope it's going to happen though... It's the one name that's been in the rumour mill pretty much every year since I go to festivals, but one that never actually appeared.

Fair enough. I hope you get a chance to see them. I would personally prefer the Voidz in the Barn though. ?

Here's my 'prediction', though I'm not strong on belgian acts and my taste leans more so to modern music so this will be less balanced than what we get.

I just have no idea who the Pearl Jam sub could be? Haven't seen a great deal of talk about it, who do you guys think it could be?

Pretty great. Put a couple more heavy bands like Architects and While She Sleeps on that poster and it becomes awesome.

Also, are the Strokes really that popular in Belgium? No offence to the band itself, just curious. I would have guessed them to be a part of a co-headline with a bigger band. Maybe part of the PJ day (like Jack White last year) as Ken was teasing a really nice Thursday.

So who's the friday headliners then?

    Finally back on topic.

I think there might be some truth in the comments that RW is sharing a headliner with Coachella or Glastonbury, which explains the wait to some extent. Glastonbury will announce their next headliner on Jan 15th, so maybe RW will announce around that time as well. Maybe that points to a big-ish name.

Based on previous discussions though, I think it will some mix of Tame Impala, the Strokes and something more mainstream like Post Malone or Ellie Goulding. RHCP has also been mentioned, but that might be SOAD's co-head instead. Small chance for GnR as well I guess.

I guessed the band, but not the festival. Was hoping for one more name, but with Graspop announcement 4pm seems unlikely to happen. Or am I wrong?

I also feel like we are probably done for the week. Hope we are wrong though. Fingers crossed for at least 1 more announcement before the holidays.

Gojira to Pinkpop, can we please get them at werchter too one of the most amazing live bands

I would like that too! Gojira, Architects, While She Sleeps, The Hu, Killswitch Engage, Faith No More, Ice Nine Kills would be in my metal wishlist.

With the danger that I’m repeating myself too much: Kendrick Lamar, The Strokes, Tame Impala, Faith No More, The National,...

Bon Iver too, but they’re probably out (playing August fest). More ‘big alternative’ acts. RW always attracted me for names like Radiohead, The Cure, Arcade Fire, Arctic Monkeys, Nick Cave, Gorillaz, Anderson Paak, Lorde, QOTSA, PJ Harvey, Depeche Mode, Blur,... They’re always good in booking quality names like that.

So just wait and see like everyone else? I'm guessing at least something from that list will be announced. Though you have to understand that some of these are not even touring next summer.

And your list is also full of repeats so people would be complaining about them too. So remember the headliners are headliners because people have heard of them, they can't announce completely new artists as headliners. Those kind of announcements should hopefully follow soon though.

I must be quite alone here,  but I actually liked The Killers in 2018 :) KOL on the other hand has been boring every time..

You are not alone, I really liked The Killers in 2018. Them, PJ and QOTSA were the highlights from the headliners that year for me.

And I also didn't mind KOL to be honest. I've only seem them in 2017 and thought they were OK. Not sure where the unanimous hate is coming from.

  9. Are we actually looking at any announcements before January at this point?

I remember they normally stop announcements around mid-December because of the holidays. And if the focus will be elsewhere for the next week or more that would leave about 2 weeks to announce headliners and the ticket sale. Seems pretty tight, given the silence so far.

No, the announcement day of Pearl Jam is already set voor a long time.

But they had to wait for some headliners to announce. Normally it was for this week, but it stays quiet.

Does that imply headliners that have not announced other dates/festivals yet? :)

  11. PJ is great and all, but I feel returning so soon might backfire a bit compared to previous years, even from a business perspective. So I hope there are some good surprises left to keep things balanced and fresh.

And to be honest, unless they announce RATM, Coldplay or some other big name then the long wait for announcements won't be justified for me at least.

Tame Impala, RHCP, SOAD, Twenty One Pilots, Post Malone have all announced other festivals already.

  12. So realistically we are looking at something like this:

    Post Malone - SOAD

    RCHP - The Strokes

Tame Impala - Twenty One Pilots - Dua Lipa

    Pearl Jam - Royal Blood

With Thom Yorke, MCR also very likely.

Not terrible, but too many recent repeats in my opinion, if that is the case.

Let's assume PJ are going to announce on December 6 (first Friday of December, their usual pattern). Can we expect RW will announce some other acts before that day or the plan is to start with PJ (since as you said they want to start with their most headliners)?

Can you shed some light on this Ken?

Should we expect any names before PJ are ready to announce supposedly in early December?

If the RW bookers are able to put Swift and Coldplay on seperate events, it sounds to me that they've got far from a headliner issue.

Foo Fighters are also in Europe that time, according to Zegut.

Fingers crossed! I hope there are nice surprises. I like the Foos, but I was hoping for less repeats from recent editions. I would take System if anyone big has to repeat from 2017/2018. And PJ I guess, who were great of course :)
