  1. Bit slim on the ground for me really. Would love to see Madonna and I’d watch the Rolling Stones Again. No doubt I’d go with all my mates to Bruce but I’m not a massive fan, certainly not if he’s doing a 3/4 hour set.

  2. Hi guys haven’t been around here for a while. I became a father in June 23 (luckily quite early in the month I was sweating on his birthday being Glastonbury dates) so didn’t go last year.

What is the latest on headliners?

  3. Would love to see Cleo Sol do a solo show after her coming on with Little Simz.

Pusha T got one of the records of the year for me would be great to see him take a headline slot.

  4. Never missed out so far, luckily never even had to try the resale. If I couldn’t get a ticket, then I’m resale and then I couldn’t work it I’d just go down try and blag my way in I think. I can’t comprehend not going next year for what would be me 8th in a row.

  5. Having seen FM with Lindsay I’d happily see this version of FM not headline, especially if it meant that we got Elton instead. That said if this version of FM played I’d be there and would undoubtedly be a massive crowd/booking.

Any talk of Elton John not headlining is absolute nonsense. He’s the king of pop ffs.

The Quietus review refers to the absence of a live band. I don't think it's credible to suggest - for example - the track for "i" was being performed by a band behind a screen. Live percussion was perhaps occurring.

What’s the difference? There were clearly musicians there playing their instruments.

  7. Fleetwood Mac without Buckingham isn’t the same. I’m sure people who haven’t seen them before will pretend to themselves that it is but he is undoubtedly the driving force behind their best songs and their live show. Probably means they’re a cheaper booking mine so maybe Mike is right.

Some amended performances to accompany the show doesn't prove there was a live band. There were Kendrick backing vocals, but you'd be a dope to assume there was a second Kendrick behind the screen.

Ney. Stick to whatever it is you’re good at mate.

  9. Remove mirrors in the toilets. They become changing rooms.

The showers want some sort of rethink. If you were a man the queue was obscene. Ladies just walking up and in. No fucking way girls are quicker in the shower then fellas.

TBH common for a hip hop set. It’s more about the energy they bring than perfect vocals. I’m not expecting her to sound as crisp as she does on record.

But it would have been nice if she brought a full production like she did at Coachella/Prim. This looked weirdly scaled back and last minute. Can’t quite understand why. Even at Parklife last year she had more dancers, fire, and a stage set up. Weird that Glastonbury would be the one you skimp on.

    Only if they’re shit MC’s.

  11. There was definitely a band. Loads of additional drum fills and bass/guitar parts over the beats. Putting the band out there would have taken away from the show. Feel like if you need to physically see a band to realise there is one you’re a dope.

  12. Never heard anyone spit so clearly live. He didn’t miss a word and it was crystal clear. Outrageous levels of MCing. Best live Hip Hop show/performance I’ve ever seen and I’ve seen a lot. Such a powerful performance, I felt like I was witnessing something legendary. Miles ahead out on his own in the rap game. Nothing is coming close to him around today and not much before him either. Think he slides into my top5 dead or alive after the last record and that performance.

Yeah, McDonald would be great in the unofficial legend Pyramid slot, the low key legend. My dream booking for that kind of slot is always Steely Dan (even if it is the one of them now)

Ah man that would be incredible. Did yers hear the tune he did with Thundercat/Kenny Loggins? Still doing great stuff this late into his career. Don’t think he’s big enough for it unfortunately.

    Tommy is angry...

Im not a fan of his post Beatles stuff - soz

I’m not angry at all. Just confused. Why did you expect him to do play a Beatles only set? Just because that’s what you wanted?

Is it unfair to say his choice for the set list was appallingly poor ?

Diana Ross showed him how its done with her set list choices.  Extremely good mixture of banger after banger from her past and good choices from her new album.

It was terribly boring for at least an hour and slowly got better.   Most people accept this...

Talk of it being the best headliner ever is just utterly bizzar to me - not even close 😛   How can you produce something so dull for most your set and still be called incredible.  No one else would get away with it.

For context I agree he was amazing for 80, and he is an all time great - but as a show - only the last 45 mins I think was worthy of his stature.

Paul left The Beatles when he was 29 mate. He played for me a near perfect set list from his entire careers back catalog. If you aren’t a real fan of Paul’s post Beatles stuff (51 years of his career) then that’s on you.

  16. Too many bodies on site this year. Everywhere had a queue it was madness. This time was my 7th in a row and this was by far and away the busiest it’s ever felt. The obvious solution to me is reduce the number of tickets. Maybe they went for gold this year to try and recoup money lost over the past few years. If so fair play we all made it though it but let’s not have a repeat of this festival. Far too busy at times.

  17. Macca - Best show I’ve ever seen. Got in the pit with my two mates after the sub had finished. Everyone around us was sound and into all of the songs. It was perfect.

Kendrick - Christ almighty what can you say. Good Kidd my favourite record of his and having never seen him before it started amazing and carried on that way. The dancers and stage show were fantastic. Felt like I was witnessing pure art. The most important musician alive today and of his/our generation. Powerful.

Lianne La Havas - I’ve been a fan for a good while now and unfortunately never got to see her live. Covid had a lot to say about that. I absolutely battered her last record during lockdown so felt like had been way overdue. What a performer.

Honourable mention to Little Simz (Cleo Sol - what an incredible voice!), Noel,  Khruangbin and everyone else I saw. Certainly my favourite Glastonbury of the 7 I’ve been.

  18. Can someone be a little more straightforward than talking about crisps.

I assume there are no dogs.

    Are they patting everyone down?

    Searching pockets?

    Making you empty your pockets?

    Searching bags?

    Thanks.

I doubt I’m gonna be able to convince my group to do it and I’m sure my spangled self will be too antsy to actually stick with it either, but if I had it my way I’d probably just stay at IICON all Saturday night from Floating Points onwards. Such a great run.

I’d be doing same if it wasn’t for Todd Edwards in Downlow. Hopefully I make it in.

For techno there’s off the top of my head:

    Giant Swan (live)

    Fjaak DJ set

    HAAi

    Daniel Avery

    Pangaea x Pariah

    Jon Hopkins DJ set

    Elkka

    Joy Orbison

(Pls do not comment with “not real techno” x)

These two gonna be sick. They’re on after each other also so i’d get stuck in there.

If I list A Day in the Life 30 times over do you reckon he'll get the message?

Interesting though it could suggest he's mixing it up for Glastonbury though.

No harm in trying mate. I’d love that one.
