This.   First year we went we avoided the Truth stage because we assumed from struggling to get through the pathway at the top it would be rammed. but once you get off the path and into the stage area there's usually lots of space.    Doing that walk to get to Skindred this year was probably the only time the crowds felt uncomfortable for us

Yea the crowds getting into Skindred were bad but that was mainly because people latch onto the back of venue crowd to get away from the queue and make no attempt getting further forward. We ended up in the moshpit and I would say I got more battered and bruised standing at the edge as people pushed passed us. There was quite of space by the front for sure.

I will say though the crowds last year for Fat Boy Slim at the Gas Tower felt 10x worse. We were trying to get through for Brass Against on Truth and we were penguin stepping from way over the tracks into The Common. Everyone had just stopped at Gas Tower and left like a meter wide gap for everyone else if they were not there for FBS.

  5. Don't want to rain on your excitement but his performances are not always that great. We caught him on NBA Leather tour last year with Action Bronson and we all agreed it was just a bit flat, nothing really to get the crowd going. In all fairness seemed like most the crowd was waiting for Action but most of us knew his back catalog and still felt the same.

Still it is mostly just the hit singles with a bit of new material. Other than the band growing a personality, I am not sure how much you could change to spark peoples enjoyment.

Hmmmm.  Not so sure.  Opening with Sculptures is weird.  They opened with Fire & The Thud when they toured Humbug and it just sapped the energy out of the excited crowd.  I think this will do the same.  The first 2 tracks off The Car would be a much better start.

The obvious songs to go with from The Car that would come across great live are Hello You and I Ain't Quite Where I Think I Am.  Both missing.

And any AM set without A Certain Romance is flawed.  I think they should close the encore with it.

It is a great atmospheric track IMO and they go straight into Brianstorm to lift the crowd, I like the choice personally.

  7. Out of curiosity what would people like to change in their setlists that will be so called snorefests? Looking at their setlists, they play pretty much every big single they have released minus some of the bigger ones from the first record i.e. Sun Goes Down, Fakes Tales as well as no Mardy Bum or Ritz from that record but pretty much everything else is there.

They play 1 sometimes maybe 2 from TBH+C and only 4 from a new record they are touring. Humbug and Suck It & See which also seem less popular only have the singles played in most instances and forgotten about. Obviously AM gets rinsed but that was their most popular as mentioned above. I think it is more the idea of the Arctics that has got stale for most without them realizing it because of the nostalgia attached to the earlier material.

Maybe as well as mentioned above people just want a different setlist with just more of rotation but then we would just get moaning from the otherside of the argument, "they don't play the hits" which is all they have done IMO.

My favorite records are SIAS, Humbug, TBH+C and The Car, I know for sure I couldn't really give a shit if they added When The Sun Goes Down back to the line up but just one of Secret Door or That's Where You're Wrong etc would make the setlist for me regardless of what else they played.

Oh and Certain Romance wouldn't go a miss.

I thought Man City dropped Mendy since like a year or so?

Oh shit! I thought he had been found not-guilty and that's why he was still playing? I just read he was still playing while he was on extended bail - WTF?! - but that was back in January and I can't find any other info on what happened after that. Is he still being investigated? He's played nearly every game this season.

Partey was found not guilty on a technicality and they couldn't press charges over here I believe. I may have that wrong but that is how I remember it.

Must have been weird for him/them!

The buzz of playing the best stage at the festival, to playing to a handful of punters.

They seemed happy to have the pressure off by the looks of it, they were having a blast. And they had me shaking down my best moves which I can only imagine helped.
