I wouldn’t be there. It would be busy but nowhere near as busy as Elton. Probably not even as busy as Dolly. One of the factors that makes something Elton level of busy is the fact it feels like it could be a last chance. The Spice Girls are young enough for people not to feel that is a factor.

I'm not necessarily disagreeing, but would like to add another (I would say very) notable factor, that is "wouldn't pay £100+ to see their own gig, but I'm well in for an hour of their hits at the fest", including the "it's my guilty pleasure" crowd.

  2. I too can recommend Lebara. I purchased a pre-paid SIM and used in in my second slot as my main SIM is European hence  useless in UK.

Normal calls and SMS messages won't work if you disable your main SIM, but if enabling your main SIM doesn't cause a bgillion in roaming fees, you can leave both enabled and somewhere in the settings menu tell your phone which one to prioritize or use for what purpose.

Isn't it better to give someone a lift and feature a new headliner than have an act who's played before and may do a largely similar set?

I'd argue this largely depends on a number of different factors, including (but not limited to) the size, pull, relevance, experience, live show quality, and amount of good material of both potential artists; when they played last and in what spot,...

And then there's the question of "better" for whom?
The festival? Giving a lift might be more contemporary or more "Glasto" whatever that means, but might hurt sales and/or public perception.
The "new" artist? Headlining Glasto and the exposure that brings can certainly be a nice leg up and accelerate the career. It can also backfire if the artist isn't yet up for the task. Most likely though it ends up in an okayish headline set and realization that headlining a smaller stage or subbing would probably still be the better way to go.

My point being - it's not a straight and clear yes (in general, not specifically talking about SZA and Kylie).

was that the consensus? Don't see why it would be, it makes 0 sense

I'm saying there isn't 3 female headliners there are 2 as emily said today, and the legend who is also female by the looks of things.

When she says headliner she means headliner

OK let's not get bogged down on semantics and what might or might not be the consensus.

The fact is Emily's been trying to pass off either the legends slot or Lizzo for that matter as basically headliners before. Specifically because of gender balance.

Now in any other circumstance I'd agree with you that saying headliners means actual headliners. Three of them, topping El Pointo.

In this specific case however I think what she said might well mean 2 female headliners out of the 3, but could also mean 2 out of the 3 plus legend, or two out of the 4 in a lizzo kind-of-but-not-really co-headline thing.

Yeah when it suits her they do it sometimes. But she just said there's 2 female headliners this year and we know Shania Twain is the legend. So by your logic that would be three female headliners this year

    1) She was talking about hoping to have "2 female headliners" before, the consensus here was that she was including the legends slot.

    2) We know nothing (t least I don't, perhaps you're more in the know). Sure there's rumors, some more credible than others, but none as concrete as to say we *know* there's three female headliners. Hopefully this changes next week tho.

no chance, why would it? this year has 3 female headliners by that logic

Because Emily's on record hyping up the legends slot as "the fourth headliner", presumably exactly for the gender quota purposes.

Can you get someone to record a reading of that passage and add it to your playlist? Morgan Freeman perhaps.

Charles Dance has a proven track record and would be ideal I think.

Feel as though The Killers are the go-to booking when festivals have somebody pull out or are simply just struggling to sort a headliner.

Big enough to warrant a headline slot at most but I've never known of them being a big swing in anybody's decision to attend a festival. The spag bol of bookings

I agree, I'd just add that while they might not be the biggest pull (and neither am I their biggest fan), they certainly know how to pull off a headline show. A very good spag bol of bookings.

The barrier for me was sound quality. I don't know if it's down to where I was standing but it felt oddly muffled where I stood during MCR's set and I didn't have that issue with Placebo's.

I saw MCR in Prague and sound was sh*t to the point of ruining the gig completely for me. Shame, as the band seemed to be in top form.

It's not the most impressive for me though.

That don't impress you much, you say.

Rather a wet one than the heat of some days this year to be honest... Sorry, but it was unbearable at times.

Ideally 20c and dry but overcast, is that being too picky?

    Edit: Haha Snap @clasher

    😂

I think we should commence with the classic "20 and overcast" dance right away for maximum effect.

  12. 6 devices on manual refresh every 2 seconds. Only one got past the timer three times. Crashed after registration codes twice. Went through the third time. Be patient, it seems to be taking quite some time this year to lead the pages.
