  1. Whenever I’ve flown with a tent it’s counted as hand baggage, but it varies between location and seems to be somewhat discretionary as to whether pegs are ok. So depending on where you’re flying from they could be confiscated. If you have hold luggage too then separate your pegs and send them that way. Otherwise, if you’re hand baggage only, then just be aware that there’s an outside chance you’ll need to source new pegs on arrival.
  2. My partner and I are both in! Neither of us have ever volunteered at a festival before (done plenty of bar work, although not at Glasto), but more than happy to do it this year if it means we can be there…and I get to keep up my streak of being at every Glasto since 2005! Can’t believe it! So happy!
  3. Have joined the WhatsApp group and getting all devices at the ready. Let’s do this group 6!
  4. Just added to this. Thanks so much for setting this up, nerves are definitely kicking in! Our group of 3 will all be trying in the morning and will try for as many on the list as possible. Good luck everyone!
  5. Not gonna lie…would be all over this
  6. Would anyone like 2 free tickets to Tokky Horror in Bristol tomorrow night? It’s now only a dj set as one of them has an injury. We’re moving to the Bristol area and expected to be there by now when we bought the tickets. Solicitors are being slow though which makes it a bit of a trek for us, especially as it’s no longer a live show. I’ve no doubt it will still be a fun night however. We could have got a refund but tickets were only £6 each on an early bird deal. Figured we’d still like to support the band / promoter. And even better if someone can make use of the tickets…
  7. I think it will be interesting to see how the smaller fields do next year. When I first started going to Glastonbury I was into all the popular, main stage stuff…fields like Avalon were nothing but a shortcut to me back then. Then there came a time when the big stages didn’t interest me and lineups like Avalon really came into their own…I would have picked Skinny Lister or the Eskies over whatever the main stages were offering any day. And that was ok because the price of the festival was still good value even if you avoided the big ticket stuff. But is that still the case? Is it worth spending £350 to hang out predominantly at Avalon etc. or do you just cut your losses and go to one of the many smaller, cheaper festivals? Personally my tastes are super varied these days and I’ll always love Glastonbury whether I’m at Avalon or the Pyramid (although generally it’s still a case of the less time spent at the Pyramid the better!)…but I wonder how many Glasto lovers who would previously have hung around Avalon, the green fields etc, can’t make the sums work anymore? And if that’s the case, does that mean that, like last year, everyone will be squashed into the main areas the entire time? Will people only flock to Avalon to see the like of the Sugababes? Glastonbury worked so well when people were more split in where they wanted to be. I hope that doesn’t change too much…
  8. It’s mad how it works sometimes. Going back, I always managed to sort tickets myself, then there were a few years where another of our group always got there first…whilst 2 of our group have genuinely been trying for years and never so much as seen a booking page!! It will be interesting to see just what demand is like in the resale. Personally, my partner and I will be just as invested as always, but I wouldn’t be surprised if some, if not all, of our other 3 make other plans between now and then.
  9. My first Glastonbury was 2005 and I’ve not missed one since. But I didn’t have any luck on Sunday and neither did the other 4 in my group, 3 of whom were trying from totally different locations. Personally I had 2 devices on the go, hammering F5 as always, and I got as far as entering registration details for the 5 of us 4 times…only for the page to die each time. My partner, who was sat next to me never got a sniff on either of her 2 devices, and neither did our other 3. So frustrating! I’d also tried in the Thursday coach sale and no luck there either. But I’ve had to rely on resale tickets twice before (once by coach from Taunton, literally nowhere near where I lived at the time!)…so fingers crossed it will all come together again as frankly I can’t bring myself to consider the alternative. It’s going to be a tense wait however… Aside from See sorting out the tech issues though (such as my duff registration pages on Sunday), I can’t think of a better way to do it. A ballot system would be awful and I’ve always felt that, for the most part anyway, if you really want to be there you’ll be there. I guess it‘ll be time to (re-)test the theory in the resale! Congrats to all with tickets so far.
  10. Someone asked the band about this on Twitter the other day. Apparently they’re on at 9:30, probably playing just over an hour (including encores).
  11. I’m team Wednesday all the way - normally in the queue some time in the early hours of Wednesday morning. Saying that though, my actual best Glasto ever (having started in 2005) was 2016…oddly the one year that we got in just shy of midnight on the Wednesday, having had a long day waiting for the Taunton coach to navigate the awful road conditions following the bad weather. So ultimately I feel Glastonbury’s what you make of it once you get there…
  12. Hey thanks for replying, I’ll check this out but have a feeling we’re already talking about 2 on top of the PA. I don’t know the person who’s entitled to access camping so not sure entirely what the situation is. That’s kind of the issue really - that we’ve got an overall group of 12 or so but very little crossover in terms of who knows each other! Which sounds like great fun for when we’re there, but a bit of a nightmare for organising!!
  13. Sorry, I’ve been reading these forums pretty much every day since 2005, but I’ve barely ever posted and I’m clearly not figured out how to quote/reply!
  14. It sounds as though the other person will be in the access campsite, as one of two permitted additional people
