I went to Shambala later in the year as a regular steward and was fine with it. If they need me, I’ll do it. If they don’t, it’s a win because I don’t need to engage my mind for 8 hours 😂 The status thing is a mystery! We’re all volunteers trying to get to the end of a shift and to the party. Who really cares?
-
That was me that walked over from exit to try and sort it out! 😂
-
Sorry I couldn’t make it. Was on the Didsbury Dozen 🍻
-
It’s was all over nothing in the end. He was getting fed up of being scanned in and out constantly. Kicked up a fuss, got scanned anyway, went in. We were perplexed 🧐
-
Wait a minute, were you on ped gate c when the angry chef turned up?
-
A delight if it was me. I brought three different types of biscuits to each shift.
-
I agree with that. Probably a mix of cost and the sheer volume of people they need to get through. If there was a f2f I would attend. The optional supervisor training was f2f last year
-
Oxfam is infectious, the camp is so good and this year, with the iced lattes, it was even better
-
I really enjoyed late night in the woods, it’s a beautiful festival
-
Please come to the efests meet, I’m well into Oxfam stewarding but I’d love to know more about getting into lockups crew. It’s looks hard but fun at the same time. Plus I love the CND
-
Yeah, just reserve your place. Few buttons to “check” like being available on the dates etc etc. then payment and boom! You’re in. Your profile gets updated after this so you have a few days to put mode of transport etc in
-
There was last year, yes
-
You should! It’s going to happen. I agree with @incident. Get there 3pm at the latest on Monday, register, pitch tent, have your briefing then head into the festival that evening for a photo at the sign with just you and your mates. If you don’t know anyone, join the massive Oxfam walk to the pyramid and crew bar bar crawl (spoiler - it heads to one place and doesn’t move much because there are hundreds of people). Join the oxfam WhatsApp/telegram for deets. Tuesday, explore the whole festival and have a late night (assuming you are not on at 8am). The place is buzzing and the party lasts until early hours. There is still plenty of space between the tents on Tuesday. If you arrive on Tuesday in a group, it’s tough finding a good spot where you can form a circle/camp. There is space if you head in from the paths

**This post is all speculation** There was the Friday night last year where everyone got in with Oxfam and we thought it was for the extra stewards the festival asked for. That was early May. I got three mates in that night and places were available for hours with no announcement. My point is: if you don’t get in on Tuesday - it’s not over
-
My guess it is cancelled places after the resale last weekend
-
From past experience try to log on before but they will announce a time on the Facebook group. Arrival is Monday from 11:00ish up to about 17:00 Tuesday. Must be on site and booked in by then as the wristband operation stops and the briefings are mandatory

What night is the efest volunteer meet?
-
Fully agree. I enjoy the work, the extra days on site, mixing with people I wouldn’t do normally. Knowing what I know now, I’d do any two festivals with Oxfam to avoid T-day in October. 4 minute resale is a sign of times to come imo
-
Long term, get other festivals done with either organisation (two with Oxfam. Not sure about Festaff) and get on the priority list for next year.
-
Exactly that. Staffing reduces a lot after the opening two days so shifts tend to be front loaded. Same is true but to a lesser extent with Oxfam where some people end up with just one shift Friday-Sunday because they did one on Wednesday and Thursday
-
You can do it earlier in the day. Come late afternoon the trickle of punters will start. Shepton Mallet Tesco isn’t far away
-
Huge amounts of info in the thread already for Oxfam
-
There is a chance. In 2019 I got a place 10 days before the start of the festival. Got to get on it now and I’d advise your mates to read through this thread. Loads of good advice in it

They won't, they don't care. They care about it selling out and it does. In their eyes this is a massive success. The rest is low level noise that doesn't make the news so isn't even close to the to do list
