First Aid Kit, Flaming Lips and Tune-Yards announced this morning for events the same weekend.

Think that’s the following weekend, Larmer Tree and that Kaleidoscope thing?

is there any possibility of n.e.r.d subbing the main or headlining 6 music or are they parklife exclusive

I’d love it if they did. I think quite unlikely to headline the tent, even less likely to play mainstage. Latitude is slowly booking more hip hop, but I don’t think they’re quite there yet to book a hip hop subheadliner

I couldn't see the point in Latitude announcing Nick Cave as a festival exclusive headliner despite a massive show on sale months at what essentially is a festival in London. I'm sure Latitude and All Points East won't share headliners anyway.

I was thinking more along the lines of him being tied into latitude exclusive before APE came asking. I know it’s a tenuous reason, but it’s the only realistic one I had for why the second weekend is gigs instead of the festival

    Doesn't look like it

I do wonder if Nick Cave may end up being an exclusive though. Can't think of what other festivals he would play at in the UK, and I can't see him doing another regular show yet considering he toured the UK only last year.

Nick Cave at latitude would have been the one I would have said, although he is elsewhere in Europe on the Saturday of that weekend so probably not

  5. I had a dream last night, that this year is the brexit edition of latitude. The headliners were Morrissey, Queen and Adam lambert, and “not Sigur Ros” (unspecified who it actually was going to be, some hard working British band for real people I’d imagine)

    Some guesses:

    Kate Tempest

    The Horrors

    Black Honey

The Horrors won’t play again, they played last year.

Not sure if Kate Tempest will be doing festivals, got to be the third year doing let them eat chaos, unless she has something new out by then

She is headlining at EotR but not mentioned as a festival exclusive (unlike VW and Feist) so we could still see her, subbing main stage or headlining the tent

Yeah, my thinking was that EotR might not have booked her to headline if she’s playing second/third fiddle at a competitor, makes them look a bit weak. I don’t know though, I’m not a booker so fingers crossed

Slim chance of Vampire Weekend has also gone now...

Looking at the End of the Road line up, do you think St Vincent is also a headliner? Was hoping she’d play latitude, but could be ruled out as well

Are Wolf Alice not a fairly strong possibility to headline, given that they're in Spain the same weekend and would appear to have one of the days free?

Given the size of their recent tour and other festival billings, I’d say they’re a strong sub. Wouldn’t mind them headlining personally, but I don’t expect them to be placed above chvrches this festival season

  10. I think Gorillaz would have been more likely if they were also doing Parklife, because it would’ve meant their exclusive tag for boomtown was rubbish. As it stands, still assuming it means exclusive

    The Gaslight Anthem?

They played back when the 59 sound was still fresh, not sure that they’d get booked bc they'd possibly demand a high fee/billing for the anniversary shows. Think they might be more likely for 2000 trees

  12. new James Blake - If the Car Beside You Moves Ahead

That’s the third new track from him in recent weeks, including a cover and a live unreleased track, so hoping there’s a new album on its way

Standing is 25 quid and sold out a while back. All thats left are some naff seats

Ah, didn’t think about a seated venue just saw there were tickets available. Also, as an aside, it always surprises me that ticket prices vary for the same tour. Norwich tickets are £21.50 inc fees

As suggested on the prev page, another EE sized band alongside them would be a decent Thursday draw (I can’t go back and quote from two pages)

  14. Upon further investigation, the Chems are doing European shows that weekend. I know it’s possible, but seems unlikely they’d come back and then out to mainland Europe again.

Also I dunno if they could justify £35 for EE unless there’s more on the Thursday, especially as their current Manchester show is ~£20 a pop and hasn’t sold out yet

its not a 5000 capacity festival. its an 8000 capacity festival that doesnt sell out and has about 5000 attendees

Haha, I just based it on the number from efests page. Has the site changed between 2016 and this year at all do you know?

Trying to decide which of this/latitude/houghton to go to,  thinking I may well do more than one but the girlfriend probably won’t

    God I hope so

Surely they're as big as the Maccabees?

Maybe it’s my age, but it seemed to me that the vaccines’ popularity peaked somewhere between their first two albums. I can’t see them playing any higher than they did last time (headlining the tent)

there will be an announcement before the month is out. I know one of the headliners and its a biggie :) no idea who they'll be getting apart from that though.

Bigger than previous or about as big? Because I’d consider all the headliners they’ve had big for a 5,000 capacity festival really

Yes I quite liked them, the others were the coral, the Devine comedy, and Mumford and his sons, only went to M &S out of curiosity and lasted 4 songs before sacking it. I probably would have seen more but latitude was my 4th festival in 5 weeks and I’d pretty much had enough of music, spent most of the weekend in the speakeasy and comedy tent.

Ok, I saw none of those except FF. reports from my friends that mumfords were less shite than expected (but that still leaves a lot of scope) but I was watching Dave who smashed it. I think Simon Amstell was the only comedian I saw this year, most of them I’d seen at previous latitudes and wasn’t that fussed about seeing again

Well this is one campervaner who was at fleet foxes, and I quite enjoyed them despite them not really being on my radar before then. They were one of only 4 bands I saw during the weekend.

They were good, weren’t they. Who/what else did you see, out of interest?

That's a good point. I like Chvrches so wouldn't mind them to headline any night. Tbh I think a lot of bookers and journalists overestimated how popular Fleet Foxes would be in 2017. Headlining Latitude and failing to sell-out 2 nights in Brixton while Mac DeMarco and FJM easily could and they were at EOTR, is embarrassing for both FF and Latitude

I think this was in part latitude’s fault, putting them against a strong household name in Fatboy Slim. Especially on Sunday following mumfords, I imagine lots of the campervan brigade were either in the 6music or travelling down the A12 by that point. Was a bit embarrassing when I turned up to see FF halfway through and eased my way to the front where my pals were

  21. I’m hoping for a good electronic headliner in the 6music tent to oppose any dross headliner on mainstage. Bonobo or Four Tet for me please

Can also imagine Editors and one of Everything Everything/St Vincent in the other tent slots

I think Fleet Foxes went up as a strong rumour early on cos they announced a show in Ireland on the Friday or something.

Bruno Mars is playing in Dublin on the Thursday this year, fingers crossed eh
