    2024 Headliners

Don't go mentioning Labour politicians in here, you'll tempt the politics weirdos out of the wibble! 😂
  2. Pulp headlining Other doesn't make much sense to me. If Pulp did Other they would be taking an awful lot of people away from Pyramid. That might be positive if up against a superstar like Madonna and you want to crowd control, but its probably much less desirable for anybody below that level, both for the festival and the competing artist. Makes more sense that they would sub. Also, Pulp are quite a bit older than most Brit-pop bands so could maybe do the legend slot?
  3. Bruce Dickinson has announced a new solo album and dates of an accompanying tour in 2024. Does this mean they've decided to do solo stuff next year and hence put Maiden out of a Download appearance?
  4. When demand outstrips supply by such a significant margin, there is no fair way to introduce reduced prices in any meaningful way.
  5. Another reason for me to go to Bloodstock next year instead of Download. Thanks for the info.
  6. The undercard is going to determine whether I bother next year. I've seen Maiden twice in the last two years and don't really need to complete the hat-trick. Not interested in Rammstein and whilst I like A7X, they don't excite me enough to fork out for the whole festival. It does make you wonder how much effort is going into this years line-up because those headliners just feel uninspired. Already booked for 2000Trees, so if the DL undercard looks to be on the dull side I might give Bloodstock a go as I've never been.
  7. That’s exactly my point too, whilst I’d love to see Slipknot or Iron Maiden smash the hell out of a headline slot, I know it’s not likely. But there is no reason why there couldn’t be more metal and heavy rock acts across the site/stages.
  8. True, prices felt reasonably high at Download and Ynot this summer, but the prices at APE were just silly! £12 for a ‘German’ sausage was daylight robbery.
  9. More Metal would be awesome, it’s always been a seriously under-represented genre at the festival of contemporary arts. The worlds best Metal bands are in circulation in the UK and Europe around the time of the festival so there is no real excuse.
  10. I went to the Strokes day. Thought the whole thing was a thoroughly terrible experience. I thought the scheduling was bad, having both Amyl and the YYYs on the same stage meant that queues for food/drinks/toilets were impossible. The food was also incredibly expensive. The sound was bad on both main stages. Also seemed to encounter a lot of people who clearly don’t go to gigs and showed zero consideration for anybody else. I won’t be going again!
  11. Just noticed that Carl Barat and Gary Powell are playing on Friday. Anybody know whether that’s a dj set or actually playing?
  12. Yeah it's a very good return for them! Cant wait to see a touring announcement.
  13. "Food and alcohol will not be permitted into the arena unless purchased from inside the arena"
  14. Fast tracked entry, VIP field close to the arena to camp in (with toilets and showers), and access to a VIP bar in the arena.
  15. Was anybody else at the Beans on Toast gig? When he mentioned the Foolhardy Folk Festival in Nottingham, did he say Frank Turner was playing?
  16. Had a great weekend at Ynot. Really friendly festival, great line up and generally well run by the organisers. Even the weather worked out ok until Sunday evening! My general feedback would be... entry to the car park felt quite chaotic. Some rolling roads would have been helpful to stop the fields from churning up, and the staff were not very helpful in checking passes on a particularly muddy section. The queues to get wristbands were ridiculous and seemed to be largely due to over zealous can-counting which was just bizarre. More toilets (and toilet cleaning!) needed in the arena, especially around the main stage and some at the top of the hill by Scruff of the Neck would also be helpful. I thought the food was expensive and a little uninspiring. The drink options were good and I rarely had to wait to get served, with prices similar to other festivals. Given how militant the can-counting had been at the wristband exchange, I was surprised to see how easy people were able to get their own drinks into the arena, though it clearly helped to keep the bar queues down! My favourite gigs of the festival were Kid Kapichi, Snayx, Snake Eyes, Arxx, Sprints, Chill Jenson, Calum Bowie, Bombay Bicycle Club, Everything Everything and Jamie Webster.
  17. @balti-pie and @Hazz Just in case you're not aware... on the official Download forum there is a huge feedback section with threads on every aspect of the festival. My understanding is that the feedback is provided to the organisers and some of the forum moderators are on liaison committees with the organisers to try to implement improvements. Personally, I thought that (Wednesday's transport aside) the festival was incredibly well run considering it was a sell out for the first time. Some shade in the arena would be great, there is loads of room on the right of stage where cover could be provided that wouldn't effect anybody's view; getting water in the arena was a problem - I think the water pressure was the issue rather than the number of water points (it took minutes just to fill an ordinary sized bottle!); I would have liked some better signposting around the site to help on arrival; they need to provide thousands more bins than they did; the two big tents in the village were great but the village area in general needs more thought - less fairground rides and more stalls and attractions; a ban on camping chairs inside the speaker ring after 8pm as it gets so dangerous (obvs this applies to most festivals!).

    2024 Headliners

Yeah it's feasible and I'd love to see it, but I think its more likely that they play Download.

    2024 Headliners

AC/DC are heavily rumoured for Hellfest which is the same weekend.
  20. Download prices. There were other options at different bars, but prices were approx the same.
  21. I couldn't resist the 30% off offer so got my ticket yesterday.
  22. The weather forecast looks... lets say mixed! Oh well, its the Peaks so it will be what it'll be! Cant wait now!
  23. Slipknot. I think they would be incredible on Pyramid. Iron Maiden would be fun, but they would never do it. Pearl Jam would be incredible.
