    2024 Headliners

I thoroughly enjoyed their music in my youth in that run of albums dookie, nimrod, warning and insomniac. Not sure in what order. Wouldn't say they were considered middle of the road at that time although middle aged may better fit the bill.

Can someone explain MOR to the old man (me)?
  4. Back when I was a lad it wasn't a storm unless at least one of your immediate family members was killed.

The festival has become much more of a social media platform since social media was invented. #analysis

    BLUR? Just Maybe?

Edit - the churnups slot would be better than headliner slot for me

    BLUR? Just Maybe?

There's no way anything they could do would be anything other than substandard compared to 2009 given the context around that gig. You just have to set expectations. For me it would still be a load of songs I love from a band I love in the place I love most of all, a proper sing-along and a bit of nostalgia. Would love to see them back on the farm.

  11. My personal reaction was "Shania Twain is not legend material". Cher and Stevie Nicks absolutely are.
  12. Chris if you're reading this, your tracksuit was lovely.
  13. Is Shania likely to be doing the legend slot? Meh
  14. Stevie W is probably the best headliner booking possible for the adults in our group. My in laws are going for the first time and was really hoping there would be a headliner to excite them. Madonna was sort of filling that role but Stevie would be perfect.

Sorry, what was said on the podcast?
  16. This is it. Serious handling with kids and gear these days.
  17. There are 3 kids coming with us in the car. The more I think about it the more I'm leaning towards driving down Tuesday and staying somewhere nearby. When I drove in 2009 it took us several hours to do the last 10 miles or so and I'm not willing to risk that. Was considering driving down off the ferry which gets into Liverpool at 0630 but fear I may regret that
  18. Looking like we are driving down to the festival this year on Wednesday morning from Liverpool. It's 15 years since I last did this so no idea what traffic is like or whether we will be able to leave early enough to avoid biblical traffic. Can anyone who drives down to the festival from the north west help with what times they have left and arrived at?
  19. Have travelled from Ireland to glastonbury 9 times and have done all the above. If flying I much prefer the bus over the car rental if you're travelling fairly light just so you can have a drink in the airport, on the bus etc. down side is it limits how much drink you can bring. Last time (2022) my partner and I took our 3 kids so driving over and taking the ferry became a necessity as needed to bring so much stuff and the tent is f**king massive. This year we are going again and this time my in laws are also heading over. Last time I queued overnight but this meant having to pay for somewhere for the rest of the gang to stay on the Tuesday night. In another thread a few people said Wicket generally still had plenty of space even past Wednesday. Was considering driving down from Liverpool off the ferry from 6.30am. I've not driven down in years on the Wednesday. Is traffic likely to be horrible arriving at that sort of time and does anyone know what likelihood there would be of being able to choose which car parks/ gate to head for at that stage? I drove from Liverpool twice early morning in the past and it was nightmarish although both were 10-15 years ago.
  20. Must have been all the hanging out with Sir Elton and Sir Paul last few years. Visions of them sat round a big round table in a castle with their broadswords. Wouldn't be much use if there was any trouble TBF.
  21. I think this year will be our last for a few years. We travel from Belfast and bring 3 kids. By the time you've factored in a ferry to hump the tent etc over and feeding the kids across 5 days it really does start getting into big money. Last time out was mental but at least we have all the camping gear already this time around.
