  1. Changing the dates after people will have booked flights and accommodation is a bit naughty!

At least I now don't have to find out whether I still have the stamina to pull an all-nighter at my age 😄

Have booked an extra night for Sunday at a hotel near the airport ready for the 6:40 flight on Monday morning.

  2. Had a blast .. as ever. Love how the site had been opened out to remove previous bottlenecks. I did miss the old location of the 'Plenitude' stage but new spot not too bad.

The Friday-Sunday for next year was a surprise .. especially as I'd taken a punt on booking my hotel for the expected Thur-Sat.

Has anyone left luggage in the cloakroom and gone straight from the festival to the airport on the last day? Having had a number of problems with later flights I'm thinking an early morning one might be worth a try.

They’ve got most of the things i want from the barcelona lineup for half the price!

    its a contender

anyone been before have any tips on transport within the city & places to stay?

porto would be a new city for me so quite appealing as a little holiday too

Porto is a fantastic city, everyone I know who visits falls in love with it.

Bus and Metro system is great. Your main choice is whether to stay in Matosinhos, near the festival site, or nearer the city centre. I go for Matosinhos as I like being able to stroll back to the accommodation in the small hours, rather than having to get back into the city. Easy to pop in there during the day and explore. Matosinhos has lots to do in its own right too.

  4. Blimey, it was a bit busy last night wasn't it?

A fab day was had however, although after three days walking around Porto and standing at the festival my legs were giving out at Gorrillaz and I decided to leave before the rush. I couldn't believe how loud it sounded even as far back as my hotel in Matosinhos. I reckon the cut-off was a strict curfew requirement .. i'm amazed the festival is even allowed to happen in such close proximity to a dense residential area.

Sound quality was the one disappointment this year given how good it usually is. Did all the best sound techs stay in Barcelona for the second weekend perhaps?

It was obviously unusual circumstances this year but if they are going to be having those numbers in future I do think they need to expand the footprint of the site.

Top three highlights were Jehnny Beth, Nick Cave, and Little Simz.

    Looking forward to next year.

My first impressions are sorta mixed. I really hate the Cupra stage. I feel like I have to walk way too much and there's not enough time between sets (NOS and Cupra), which demands me to lose part of whoever I'm watching. I'd very much prefer if Cupra was located where the Seat stage was.

Seriously? It's 50 metres to the left .. you must be a slow walker 😁

Given comments on sound I'm pleased I didn't give up my front row position after Stella to see Kim Gordon.

Certainly busy but the organisation is as fantastic as ever given the challenges. Every year I vow to try somewhere different for the next, but find myself straight on the early bird tickets .. I reckon this year will be the same.

That VIP area is pants though.

Oh btw, I'm selling a ticket if anyone's interested. I wanted to go but will be at uni so can't really afford to

That's a shame .. I was surprised at how expensive accommodation is in Utrecht. I managed to get something very basic and thought I'd find better over the summer but nothing doing. I hope you find a buyer for your ticket.

They just announced the complete lineup

    Fingers crossed.

My must-see list is expanding rapidly based on that ... particularly excited to see The Limiñanas on there.

Would we normally expect to have programme details in advance or is it a case of picking one up with wristbands? I have noted that there's still uncertainty about venues being allowed to open after midnight, which may delay finalisation of timings.

  8. GM has had a run of great years with ticket sell outs based on relatively inexpensive headliners. They also play the Welsh card very successfully.

I have no doubt that it's been incredibly difficult recently but I very much doubt that it's financially unstable .. there's money in the bank that I hope will be paying for something special in the 20th anniversary year 🤞

  9. Just wondering if anyone else here is doing LGW in November?

In anticipation of my favourite summer festivals (NPS, Green Man, EOTR) not happening I took a punt on booking ticket and accommodation, but apart from vague memories of an enjoyable day trip to the city about 20 yrs ago, I have no idea what to expect.

Given the wide international line-up I'm actually quite surprised that it seems to be going ahead .. I wonder how many last-minute changes there may be.

Anyway if anyone has been before and has any tips to share I'd be grateful for them, or if anyone else going for the first time wants to share the benefit of our research let me know 👍

    1) Not only have they announced the Porto dates, they have added a fourth day: Sunday ....

Thanks for mentioning that ... I never even noticed it in the announcement ... quick change of hotel booking implemented 😁

Thinking about it, Porto will get the biggest boost from this (if it happens...)

Porto early September is much less rainy than in June. Kinda best time of year to go there really.

I'd love to go at that time but it clashes with End of the Road 😔

Wish my mates would hurry up and commit. Of all the things to panic buy, a Green Man ticket has got to be one of the best

The one life lesson I wish I'd learned earlier is not to let mate's prevarication stop me doing something. Get it bought and they'll soon fall in line.. if not, go solo and make new friends 👍

Cackling at the idea of Swans at EOTR.

I saw them at Primavera Porto a few years ago and they were so loud they made me feel physically ill and I had to go and sit in the furthest part of the site away from them in order to recover

I was there too and it was certainly one of my top 10 festival experiences. Can't be many festivals that would allow a band that length of set. However it was a lot quieter than their normal preference .. hopefully they could crank it up a bit at EOTR 😝
