  1. It’s a quirky festival. Traditional folk with acts like Richard Thomson, Kate Rusby etc but also acts such as Frank Turner, Nile Rogers, Levellers, Supergrass and even Alice Cooper have appeared. Fairport still have quite a following though it’s ageing with the band😊 Reckon the festival has got only a few years left.
  2. havnt been for a few years now and yes, it does make us feel young as well! I think the last time we were there Brian Wilson was playing. Fairport were Glastonbury regulars from the early days. The two village pubs are always rammed, we ended up drinking in a churchyard.
  3. Yes, the headliner hype doesn’t affect ticket sales. The festival could possibly sellout twice over. In comparison other festivals are suffering. I’ve had so many e mails from other festivals promoting ticket sales. In fact this morning I got a message from Fairport conventions cropredy festival, usually really well attended, explaining how much it costs to hold the event, how so many similar festivals have folded and asking attendees to tell friends and family to come along. Obviously this year they are struggling. A nice friendly folksy festival with a great atmosphere in a fantastic location, access to village pubs and local area.
  4. Avalon and other, but I can see why the glade is popular with so many. Whatever happens as usual there will be clashes for everyone!
  5. Milky milky tractor! I don’t think it’s around anymore. Not only fresh milk but also a great alarm wake up call!
  6. Correct, the tickets have your name printed on them, and are exchanged for a wristband on production of photo proof of ID such as a passport or driving licence. The festival are strict about this and that tickets are sold for face value only. Hospitality camping is near Woodsies and there’s access to the hospitality area between the pyramid and other stage. A good cut through to miss the crowds I’ve been told. I think entry to the festival is through the wicket gate near gate A. Hospitality parking is at the bronze gate and costs more that other festival parking.
  7. Think he just needs it for assistance when out and about. There would have been a lot of waiting around at the investiture. sadly, Not quite the ‘Prince’ he wanted to meet😊😉.
  8. Last week I walked up into the hills around my area, just after the rain had finally relented. it’s been a really wet winter and ground was boggy. We’ve just had three dry but cold days and some sunshine. Upon the same hills again this morning and ground solid, lambs everywhere and walking shoes mudless! Not worth worrying about the ground conditions yet but it is fun😊. Meanwhile I climbed up these this morning as part of the Glasto fitness training!
  9. Yes, reroute HS2 straight into Castle Carey
  10. Bet as a kid your Xmas list for Santa was big and expensive 😊😉
  11. There are charging facilities but queues can be long. We’ve got a couple of power banks that keeps the phones charged. Might be worth investing in them. You might notice that the festival is busier than you remember. I think that but it might just be an age thing!
  12. Camping warden just inside gate A usually has info where there is space available.
  13. Must be good, I recognise quite a few on there😊
  14. Hills overlooking Isle of Cumbrae and Arran, a regular walk for me . Photo taken from an Iron Age hill fort.
  15. I think the chances of that happening is remote to non existent. Every year whilst more people want to go, those who have been many times continue to go, the tickets will always be in demand. The mud of 2016 had no affect on the tickets the following year.,
  16. I’d agree with that, was in the middle of the Avalon crowd seeing Jamie Webster, absolutely manic, but brilliant patter!
  17. Yes, glad we took the chance of the hospitality tickets, resale seemed brutal, as predicted.
  18. Not sure yet, got the chance of ziggu and that would mean no tent setting up etc.
  19. That’s right, hospitality tickets have to be sold at face value, 2 k won’t be far off the mark. Thing is to those who havnt a corporate contact and don’t camp in the hospitality camping near Woodsies these tickets are usually combined with luxury glamping elsewhere which really ups the price.
  20. Was it not Brian Clough that didn’t say that? 😊😉
  21. If you’ve a go outdoors close by pay them a visit. Ours have a large camping area with tents set up. Good to assess space, weight, black out and ease to set up.
  22. The bar steward sons of Va Doonican, appearing on the Avalon this year, have a song dedicated to festival peeing, called Walking in Manpiss. Well worth a listen!
