  1. After discussing headphones on here a couple of months back and after lots of online review studying I took the plunge and went for Apple AirPods Pro. Been wearing them in round the house but treated them to their first run today and got my 2021 5k pb which was pleasing! Really chuffed with the headphones, was a bit nervous running past drains to start with incase they fell out but a solid performance and great sound. Recommend

Proper buzzing tonight! Smashed 2:42 off my 10km PB 🙂

So when I started running after we finished our covid quarantine in Jan, that was the start of the first remotely consistent cardio work I'd done since September.

That was 10 weeks ago and over the last 4 weeks, capped off tonight, that's the trinity of PBs for 5km, 10km and half marathon.

Proper happy with that. Not even a humblebrag! 😄

Great effort mate, love the feeling of shaving a few seconds off a PB but 2:42 has smashed it. Only trouble is it will be harder to beat the new PB!
Beat my 10km PB last weekend by 15 seconds after starting out steady but just got into a good rhythm. Hoping to step up the frequency of runs now the mornings are getting lighter so few more PBs in my sights avoiding injury

Jungle with their summer vibes are very underrated imo

Love this! Hadn't realised they had new stuff on the way so a nice Tuesday evening surprise

  4. New album from Black Honey out today after delaying the release earlier in the year. Only a short one at under 31 minutes but cant complain after squirting 21 tunes onto their debut deluxe version, and meant I got to listen to it twice through on my run this morning! Haven't picked up on much new stuff this month so this probably straight in at number 1 so far for me for March.

I’m thinking about Cardiff bit further than I’d usually go ... anyone been to that venue ... I won’t attempt to spell 🙂

I've been there once before about 3 years back, main recollection of it was that I was only allowed to buy one drink at a time so couldn't get a round in, although that might have just been the person serving rather than a policy!

Nice small venue, lots of stairs but easy access from city centre and close to a lot of bars, right by the Principality. I liked it

Without gloating..... This morning I ran my first half marathon and I'm so proud of myself! Bonus that I completed the distance in a time of 1:49.05, I can't believe that I have done it on the week I was meant to be running the Bath Half for Rethink Mental Illness. Time to enjoy my ice-cream and rest before I get back to training.

Great effort! I did my first (and only) half at the Bath half 2 years ago in 1:50:09 and felt gutted about those 9 seconds. The experience put me off and I’ve stuck to 10k since but enough time has passed for me to want to try and break 1:50 this year

  7. The Vaccines Cosy Karaoke vol 1 out today. Some really nice easy listening covers. Bit disappointed with KOL, I like stuff from across their whole back catalogue so I’m not one of those crying out for a repeat of album 1 but nothing that memorable although it was nice background music. Will give it a few more goes to see if anything sticks or grows

  8. 1. Django Django

    2. SG Lewis

    3. The Weather Station

At the start of the Feb looking at what was to come I wasn't feeling that excited but been another strong month of releases. Tough to narrow it down to 3, just missing out were Ghetts, The Hold Steady, Maximo Park, Julien Baker and Cassandra Jenkins!

You definitely should. It’s much slower than BB and doesn’t have any big action episodes until a couple of seasons in which seems to have turned a lot of people off, but just stick with it and you’ll soon be hooked.

Seems we might still have a year until the final season airs so you’ve got plenty of time to get through all five seasons!

Yeah I know a few people that watched a few episodes then gave up but I’ll stick with it after the positive comments on here. Also going to rewatch El Camino, I don’t remember it in detail but remember I enjoyed it first time around

  10. Another cosy karaoke release from The Vaccines today, this time a cover of Fire by Waxahatchee. After initially being a bit unsure of their QOTSA cover I’m actually really enjoying these covers they’re releasing!

Thanks for the heads up on that. Never heard of them but put it on this morning and I liked it a lot.

No worries, glad you like it! As others have said, definitely recommend checking out their other albums they've released some really solid stuff.

I was supposed to see them at Leeds 2012 but they were on at 4 which proved too early for us, we eventually went in for The Courteeners at around 7.30pm (after which everyone went back to camp and me and a mate went and watched half of The Cure). Literally shaking my head typing this I was so adamant I was gonna go see them, wasn't even a big ask ahah. Thrown the first album on now and it is good fun and I still seem to know the words, I owe them more really.

I very much enjoy Fred's humour live as well. Incredibly self-deprecating.

I love the first album, it was a CD that got wedged in my old car CD player so got played every journey but I didnt get bored of it and same as Priest I still seem to know every word! I only got around to seeing them live for the first time in Nov 2019, their tour dates never seemed to fall well for me but really good fun live and only £11. Some of their lyrics are brilliant and Fred's humour definitely carries through to his post song patter.

  12. Just noticed that Spector brought out their third album earlier this week. Its actually just consolidating their previous 3 EPs in one album with one new song but nice to have it all in one place. Warming up with a spin of that before getting into anything new today

  13. A third single from Elder Island this week and announcement of their second album due out end of May. Can already see this will be getting a lot of sunny day garden plays this summer, love that they have released a B side alongside each single too. Getting a mix of funk, house and dreamy electronic sounds from the singles so far, feels like a slight progression from their debut sound but still very much them.

    New today.

Never head of them but it popped up on Spotify and it’s a big yes from me.

Just checked this out and it’s brilliant, could creep into my top 3 for the month! Not dissimilar to JARV IS and also getting a Spector vibe at times, both right up my street. Thanks for sharing
