  1. I'm a big fan of Kasabian and I'd say the only album so far that I'd struggle to listen to without skipping anything is Empire.

New album is a cracker in my eyes, some songs take a few listens but I find that a lot with new music so I hold off any opinions until I've given it a chance.

The thing I love about Kasabian is that they don't take themselves too seriously and a lot of their songs translate so much better into their live shows. I can imagine Bless this Acid House and Comeback Kid sounding incredible live. I initially thought AYRFA was a bit long and repetitive and I thought the same about Treat on 48:13 however Treat is amazing live and has since become one of my favourites off the 5th album.

Overall very pleased with new album and favourite 3 tracks are BTAH, Wasted and Ill Ray.

  2. A load more acts announced but no stage splits yet.

No major additions but suppose this is what we would expect, however personally quite pleased with the addition of Formation and Fickle Friends. I do quite like having a listen to the lower acts that I haven't yet heard of during the lead up to a festival so I can now crack on with this! Any recommendations from lower down on the poster?

  4. I went to see the xx in Cardiff last night on the last leg of their European tour and they were incredible. Sounded great, well thought out setlist and amazing stage set up and light show. Will be interesting to see what they bring to Bestival but we should be in for a treat!

Any ideas on the next line up announcement? It's all gone a bit quiet

  5. Whenever there is an announcement, some people will love it and some will hate it. I like to read other people’s opinions but some people do get a bit carried away. Surely if you don’t like the line up, then there are plenty of other festivals that will have a line up catering to your preferences? I also like when line ups come out with bands on that I may not have heard of, as I go away and have a listen to a couple of their songs and is a good way of discovering new music.

For me this line up is decent. Seen Kasabian twice before and one of my favourite live bands and also due to be bringing out new music. I have heard good things about Muse but have never seen them before, and Eminem is an act who I probably wouldn’t choose to go to one of his shows, but would actually love to see live. Plenty of smaller bands that I enjoy too such as The Amazons, Circa Waves, Glass Animals, Moose Blood, Oh Wonder, Sundara Karma, Picture This, The Hunna and The Sherlocks. And like I said before, lots more bands to have a listen to.

  6. Would love if the Reading line up followed the mad cool festival line up so far - KoL, Greenday, Foo Fighters, Alt J and Wolf Alice. Even more so if they offered tickets for €105.

Some others I would like to see on the line up:

The xx, Warpaint, Royal Blood, The Sherlocks, VANT, Odesza, Spector, Temples, Slaves, Jagwar Ma, Glass Animals

Hopefully the first announcement will be a good one!

  7. The XX have announced their third album is due out in January and their new single sounds very decent. Would be good to see them high up on the line up in the NME tent. Also The Sherlocks are in the studio working on their first album and after catching them at Bestival this year on a tiny stage I would love to see them at Reading this year on a bigger stage

  8.

My first time at Bestival. I thought the transport put on was really good and efficient – shuttle bus from Southampton Central to the ferry, then the ferry to the festival and back. Queues for wristbands were slow moving, got there around 3pm so likely peak time but took an hour and a half to get through. Also wasn’t a fan of the plastic wristbands! Got in and barely any space, got pointed towards yellow to then find out it was full so ended up at the front of green after lugging bags round for another hour. Actually had a really good spot near to food, not too far from toilets and only a few minutes walk from the arena so easy to nip back to the tent for drinks and a jacket if needed.

In terms of the site – I really liked the lay out and size of the arena and the stages were never more than a few minutes walk away from each other. Spent most of my time at the Big Top, Main Stage and Invaders of the Future stage so all really close together with no sound clashes. Really nice wandering through the forest at night too and lots to see. The line up did lack big names, but still so much to see and personal highlights were Glass Animals on Thursday, The Sherlocks, Oh Wonder and being front barrier for Wolf Alice.

Can’t comment on how it compared to previous years but I really enjoyed it and loved the atmosphere. Rain all day Saturday (after such good looking forecasts a week or 2 ago!) made it a big muddy in places but not too bad and Sundays sun dried this up anyway. Would definitely go back and a great way to end the summer.

  9. Potential to be a really good thread helping to find new music.

A lot of my recommendations have been mentioned before but he are my picks (with some of my favourite tunes of theirs to give you a taste) -

    - Jagwar Ma (O B 1 , Uncertainty, The Throw)

    - Glass Animals (Toes, Gooey, Life Itself)

    - Wolf Alice (Moaning Lisa Smile, Giant Peach, Lisbon)

    - Loyle Carner (No CD, Stars & Shards) - discovered from Buddy Holly's recommendations!

    - The Sherlocks (Escapade, Heart of Gold)

    - VANT (Karma Seeker, Parking Lot)

    - Oh Wonder (Technicolour Beat, Without You)

    - Spring King (City, Recitifier)

    - CC Smugglers (Rhythm, Lydia)

    - Odesza (Say My Name)

Should be arriving around this time next week, getting excited now!

  10. For anyone who has been before could you please comment on each of the campsites and your experience of them?

Just booked ticket for this year and usually  like to aim for a quieter less lively campsite.

also is there an onsite supermarket that sells alcohol? Trying to save the weight on my back if possible

    thanks

  11. Oh Wonder on Friday sounded amazing - a bit like the XX but more upbeat

Disclosure - thought they would have been better in the dark or in a tent but nailed it and good atmosphere

Stone Roses as a band I have always wanted to see live and didn't disappoint

VANT - missed going to see them at a small local venue so was good to see them in the small T break tent

Catfish and the Bottlemen - large crowd so couldn't get as close as I would have liked but very good

Slaves - loud and rowdy and great banter with the crowd

Chase & Status - went to see these for the Mrs and wasn't expecting much, but really enjoyed them and they definitely know how to get a crowd going

  12. This was my first TITP and was a bit sceptical after seeing the comments on TITP 2015 but wanted to give it a go after attending Reading 2014 and V 2015 and the line up had a good mix for myself (mostly indie/rock fan) and the Mrs (mostly EDM fan).

Camped in Blue which was a bit rowdier than we’d expected but not unbearable. Sunday night before they left, a group of around late teens decided they would 2 foot tackle their tents and left a right mess. Whenever we left our tent and returned, they would always be sat outside their tents so not sure how much music they actually saw, echoing what others on here have suggested.

Thursday night the Hot Dub Time Machine was really good and having wandered the site I thought the lay out was spot on. Walk from main to King Tuts was long but can’t see how they could change this.

Friday weather was quality and always nice to be able to sit infront of main stage in the sun with a beer. Highlights on Friday were Oh Wonder on Radio 1, Disclosure and Stone Roses who sounded much better than reviews I’ve heard. Saturday caught some of Spring King and VANT who both sounded decent, big crowd for Catfish who were on top form and Calvin was good to bounce around to. Sunday highlights were Jake Bugg, Slaves who sounded great and good banter with the crowd and Chase & Status. Stumbled across Hey Hello in T Break due to the rain and was pleasantly surprised.

Weather tried its best to ruin the weekend but I don’t mind a bit of mud and if anything just helped burn more calories on the walk to/from the arena – and it’s also entertaining seeing someone hit the deck and struggle to get back up after a few too many! Used Be Chilled and thought it was a really good idea.

Most people I spoke to there were really friendly and didn’t see any of the fights. A good selection of food on offer too.  I understand people on here who once loved TITP and nowadays aren’t getting the line ups they would like, however there are such a large number of festivals around that it’s easy to just pick one that suits you.

I went into TITP 2016 with an open mind and had a very enjoyable weekend.

There is a massive TBA slot 13:45 - 14:55 in King Tuts on Sunday.  May be in the same vein as Green Day at R/L a few years ago.  May be worth checking out.

Think this is a misprint and should be 13.15-13.55 as Dua Lipa is due to be on at 14.25 on King Tuts
