I'm aware that this has been a bad season for the referees in general, and agree with that take, but I see a flawed increasingly conspiratorial messenger that seems to think everyone's against them.

But it's like that debate after Liverpool's debacle at Spurs many months ago. At what point do you fight the message or the messenger? sh*t refereeing has always been a part of football but it seems to be being talked about in increasingly angry terms. Indeed, I bet that if VAR is binned and we go back to just the ref on the pitch deciding things, we'll go back to complaining (indeed that happens in the EFL anyway), and it won't do much with the possible ticking timebomb that is that a lot of people just don't want to be referees anymore, meaning before long, we're either going to get worse refs or even no new refs willing to go for it.

I dunno, if that official is a Luton fan then at best that is questionable and yeah Forest might have gone a bit too hard in that statement but it’s about time clubs start speaking out about the standard of refereeing.

I’m not sure if there this grand conspiracy against certain clubs from the PL/PGMOL but the perception amongst a lot of fans is that there is one and that’s a bed the PGMOL have made for themselves. Take Spurs - Liverpool for example, at best that was epic incompetence and worst a deliberate act to alter the game, both deserved to be criticised.

The fact that certain pundits are more upset about the statement than actual refereeing errors which could change the outcome of games/relegation is a joke as well.

Official forest twitter account suggesting they may take action over VAR being corrupt?

It'll go nowhere but if it does then it opens a Pandoras Box for previous issues such as Liverpool's disallowed goal against Tottenham.

This lot did costing...and they reckon labour's plan would cost ~15bn/annum up until 2030.

Policy Exchange - Decarbonising the Grid

Labour took the focus away from the costing of their policy as that’s all the Tories/media were focussing on. They’ve said before that they’ll borrow to funding big public spending projects they’ve just taken the figure away so it’s not so much an albatross around their neck.

    or borrow

They’re gonna borrow for long term investment plans such as the Green policies but for day to day spending at the moment they’ve ruled it out.

If anything I think that any further tax cuts by the Tories opens up Labour to justify putting taxes back up saying that the Tories have been reckless but that will be said after the election I would imagine.

    Are expectations that high?

I don’t think they are, most people realise the state of the country that the Tories have left us in and will give Labour time to turn things around. Right wingers and the Tory media won’t give them time though but that’s to be expected.

because there's so many disused car parks there'll be a glut of new housing. 😛

He’s gonna be such a good PM, the signs are right there. Their housing policy alone will improve things infinitely.

yeah well all politicians seem to be unpopular at moment, they're all as bad as each other etc etc.

Keir Starmer is the most popular politician in the country at the moment, it’s all relative but he is the most popular.

Yep that’s accurate . If there’s anything from mods that is made clear in the post either by stating MOD at the end or now some of us are using different colour font to distinguish posts . Personally I think the daily mail and scum are hateful rags and I hope their existence along with GB news dissapear from the influence they have on U.K. politics maybe that has my bias on it but maybe I just don’t like these rags spreading hate

That's fair enough, I can see why you would feel that way about those papers being shared.

? No idea ? I don’t personally . But no restrictions … maybe some issue with upload ? Has one been removed ?

I think it was something taken from a few weeks back when you said you didn’t like the DM being posted but that was just you personally saying it, there hasn’t been any mods ruling on it.

Funny how this minor story has dominated this thread as tediously as the media

It’s a chance to bash Labour isn’t it.

radio four this morning were reporting it as "if found to have done anything wrong", which i immediately thought gave someone an opening to pursue her on that, much more than "being prosecuted & found guilty" does.

i don't do twitter but i bet she tweeted it, and you can embed the tweet here to clear it up.thanks!

She hasn't tweeted it but it's all in the press that she's said she stand down if committed a crime.

hugely unlikely she'd get prosecuted (for a 'technical offense' doing the paperwork wrong), thing is, someone might say or indicate she did something wrong, and she said she'll stand down if she's done anything wrong. she could have picked different words and given herself more wiggle room.

She said she'd stand down if she has been found to have committed a crime, so as that's not likely going to happen because of the reasons I stated then she'll be fine. But that won't be good enough for the DM and others like them.
