I reckon all the complainants will cough up anyway.  There was lots of moaning last year to be fair and some people suggested a name drop/area drop before the window closed might encourage punters to pay the balance.  In the end - not needed.

Yeah, even then you can guarantee a resale will sell out - so there's no rush to release new information.

I think the individual stage posters will start some time next week after the balance window closes.  If I had to guess, I'd go 12th April.

Have we ever had an area drop partway through the window? I could probably look on Thingy - but since the lineup has been debated a lot perhaps this would help to persuade people to pay up.

  3. Really pleased with the lineup personally aside the Pyramid headliners, which I think lacks any sort of 'wow' factor but I realise there were circumstances that put SZA in that position.

I'm really happy to see acts on the poster that I missed or neglected in previous years, so I've counted 18 I'm looking forward to seeing See you on the farm!

Looks like an absolute belter apart from the Pyramid headliners. LCD and Janelle on the Pyramid will be all timers.

Agreed, I’ll only be seeing Coldplay as Pyramid headliner but there’s a huge amount else I’m excited about!

Given that Green Day have no prior relationship with the festival I think it’s extremely unlikely they’ll be making their first appearance doing a secret set, even if it is a highly televised one like Foos last year.

Not entirely true - Billie Joe Armstrong attended in 2022 to support his Son’s band who were playing one of the small stages. Only a small link of course but he’ll likely be on the Eavii radar at least by extension.

The bigger issue is GD have back to back shows the entire weekend - I can’t see an early evening slot as they’ll need to be at their own shows for sound check etc. I’ve booked to see them in Manchester due to this.

Im so glad Emily does the booking not many of the people posting here .... she and the team doing an amazing job with a pretty great mix of artists , including the massive ones that sell out stadiums and yes look incredible on the bbc which help the festival sell out year after year and they should continue to book those acts if they are available while adding some others into the mix like they've potentially done with SZA . its pretty easy to walk to another of the 5 main stages . Nice one Emily

I mean right now Glastonbury may as well not exist as we don’t have a single name - so for this year there’s nothing to back that up, but hopefully once it drops I’ll be onboard!

What she said was "sometimes we'll do something before Christmas but what I'm really hoping for is to just announce the full lineup at the begining of the year"

Everyone seems to have just sort of assumed that this meant "early in the new year". Clear now that this meant (at least ) just sticking to their usual schedule without headliners.

To me, beginning of the year could mean Q1 which ends on March 31st. We could be close or still very far!

Maybe not - I think you can probably make the argument both ways. No poster drop beforehand means all the questions are about who will be playing; poster drop beforehand means all the questions are about who has been announced.

Absolutely, people could easily ask when the lineup is coming too.

Have we ever been utterly shocked by a headliner announcement before either? I can't ever recall a genuinely out of leftfield headliner that hadn't even been discussed.

That's a good point, GFL are getting to some predictability now. All we can do is enjoy the journey!

the evidence at this stage points to them being nowhere near in a position to name the headliners.

Do we actually have sufficient evidence of anything though? it's all fairly well argued theories but we've had radio silence from GFL so there's nothing official to base anything on. I guess we've had the occasional rumour from people on the inside as well as blocked out dates...

In the context of what I think Emily was talking about (which I think was the headliner).  I took it as an indication that it was someone who wasn't on anyone's radar that that point...Which made sense when the Stevie Wonder information came out because he hadn't played live for several years due to his health issue and surgery.

Could they have been (or still are) waiting to see how Stevie's health is as to if he can play or not, hence delayed announcement? Would make sense.

Very interesting article around the sentiment of underwhelming headliners and a conversation around why that is. It’s mostly US festivals but Glastonbury is used as an example of mostly playing it safe.

It seems to be a mix of factors such as booking cost, most acts have played major festivals before and big acts no longer perform live or see it as downmarket to play festivals.

  14. Good to see Danny Brown on here potentially. Wale would be amazing but I'm aware he's only featured on one song so unlikely - he heavily collaborated with Kid Cudi around 2005-2010.

Looking at the WH lineup and wondering where that extra money they're earning on tickets is going 😂

How do you mean? Has something been announced or do you mean the lineup for 2023?

I dunno mate. Maybe just me and my foibles, but I think there's more headliner-suitable acts in the ether this year than many others.

Yep and I think a lot of smaller festivals have very good headliners this year. Perhaps part of the issue is that Glasto don't pay particularly well. I saw an article which suggested acts are realising they can make far more money from their own tours instead of festivals, so perhaps this contributes.

Chatting at a gig last night and everyone thinks this is the longest they can remember with full radio silence.  Don't want to read into it, but do you think the dearth of talent on the road this year is causing problems?  Definitely less decent fish in the pool in '24 than many other years.  (larger stages mainly).

It's either this and they're struggling to book some acts, or they've decided to wait because the headliners/legend don't justify their own announcements. Being less cynical, they might be trying to build excitement as Emily has often said she would like to do a bigger drop instead of drip feeding.

I'm personally finding it very annoying as I like using this time to research the acts whilst i'm working. I have tickets and this will be my 10th year, but I may cancel if the acts aren't my thing as I'm also moving house so the funds are needed.

Did williams green once. After this tour though (ends in a month) they are going on indefinite hiatus

2013/2014 IIRC. It was a great show and the only time I've seen them.

I'd be happy with it but it's gotta be fake.  I don't think IDLES can play because they are in France. The Last Dinner Party played last year.  Romy played about 3 times last year.  Lorde was only there in 2022 and hasn't released anything new.  So it's pretty good but enough on there which really unlikely to happen for it to be fake.

All are good points but I could also see all of those being feasible - entirely depends on the act. It's very likely fake as also would a GFL employee just leave the lineup open on their screen? Also the tradesmen would surely realise that there'd be consequences to leaking information from the offices.

19 I'd see on here so would personally be thrilled. Looks very professional and names are all realistic, there's some house bands there as well as curveballs and acts people would love to return.
