  1. @jumperofftheshelf speaking of carrying loads of weight, bag one of these on the way out of the campsite for next year if there's any discarded ones lying about, I picked one up in 2016 and it's proved an absolute godsend for taking crates in since: https://www.toolstation.com/folding-sack-truck/p64746
  2. Don't camp at the bottom of a hill (or on the hill - never understood why people do it). Personally I wouldn't camp near Relentless or bang opposite Piccadilly these days but I'm getting on a bit now
  3. Removing all restrictions like this is what a lot people on this thread and beyond have been asking for for a while but you can definitely sense that some are getting a bit twitchy now reading around, and you can't blame them with case numbers this high. We always knew there'd be an exit wave but even still, you have to admit it's a little bit risky
  4. People were outraged in my area when mask wearing and queuing outside were first introduced last year because they'd be slightly inconvenienced on the weekly food shop, a few posts in the local Facebook group, probably like most places. Ultimately people kept shopping at the local Morrisons instead of driving 20 minutes to the next closest supermarket. Suspect it'll be a bit different this time round though as you say
  5. I was gonna say, I didn't think they could do named tickets now considering how many get swapped and sold on social media. Had a look back to the 2019 thread and tickets started arriving mid-July
  6. I'd be chuffed with them both but Royal Blood would be lucky to do both Reading and Leeds that weekend if they're in Norwich Friday, Hastings Saturday and Portsmouth Sunday. Doubt they'd manage to get back down south from Leeds for any of those gigs unfortunately unless they played early doors
  7. Well I wouldn't say no to that! Just noticed Twin Atlantic have a tour at the end of August with a huge R&L-shaped gap. They have an announcement at 9am today. Edit: It's that Revive Live Music Venue Trust tour - playing Leeds Brudenell on the Thursday but free Friday and Saturday
  8. Were Download Pilot tickets checked with ID? Don’t think it’ll happen at R&L but I was wondering earlier if names would be printed on tickets to match the covid test result/vaccine passport etc. No idea if that’d even work tbh
  9. Sorry not sure if it’s legit but every other ticket I've seen on resale has been around £270 as well, never below that
  10. I read an NME article on this recently. (I think) Reading got Green Day in 2012, Jamie T and Jake Bugg in 2014, Peace in 2015 and Slaves in 2016 but Leeds didn’t
  11. I do as well, definitely not going, give me a shout if you’re not sorted yet
  12. Reading secret set? Only free on the Sunday though
  13. It's an insane lineup for £18, it's guaranteed to sell out before I finally decide to get tickets
  14. The Download Pilot lineup is where I took a few of those names from in all honesty, they're UK-based, ready to play and available at short notice so you'd imagine they'd slot straight into the R&L lineup if called upon. The Slam Dunk is growing on me more and more with the emerging UK bands they've got, want to see at least 10 bands now so no doubt eight of those will clash!
  15. They'd be a class replacement, really want to see the new stuff live. Just had a look at Fever 333, Cleopatrick, MGK and Yungblud are all in Europe in August anyway for Pukkelpop, Lowlands etc. Palaye Royale are around as well, they'd be good to see
  16. Can only speak for the acts I know of but looking at the Pit I'd be surprised of all of Fever 333, H09909, City Morgue, Spiritbox, Cleopatrick, Badflower, Grace McKagan and Jxdn came over. Acts like Static Dress, Loathe, Lotus Eater, Holding Absence, Higher Power, Blood Youth, While She Sleeps and Waterparks (meant to be in the UK for an album tour and Slam Dunk week after R&L) would be excellent
  17. https://news.trust.org/item/20210601155421-gr1fs/ Interesting article here talking about what incentives different countries are offering their people to take up the vaccine. Cars in Moscow, US$116.5m lottery prize pot in California, a US1.4m property in Hong Kong, sausage sarnies in Romania and a cow in one Filipino village. Free joints in Washington state USA. As the vaccination numbers get higher so does the general population, genius!
  18. I'm hoping the timings have changed now. Doors look to be 5pm on See Tickets so first act 6:30-7, second act 7:30-8:15, MCR 9pm? Absolutely no idea who it could be but Creeper followed by Yungblud would suit the audience from the names mentioned on here. Isn't Yungblud US-based?
  19. Labour just don't have a clear identity anymore. I vote for them purely because they have the biggest chance of beating the Tories in my constituency, which is slim considering the Tories (33,000) got more than double the Labour vote (16,000) here in 2019. With Corbyn at the helm Labour at least had a vocal recognisable leader and an identity, with Starmer you hear more from his MPs eyeing up his job than you do from him in the midst of the biggest health crises in living memory. If they can't lead their own party they don't stand a chance leading the country, or at least that's the way it looks to me, a working class 20-something from inner city Leeds who should be Labour through and through
  20. It’s looking good now. Latitude, Download and Tramlines all confirmed they were going ahead and released an updated lineup a couple of days later so maybe that’s the plan? It might be next week after the MPs vote on the 12th
  21. Speaking of festivals going ahead, I hope Whitty plays "Next Slide Please", it's a right tune
  22. Search his name, Joel Hughes, on Twitter, true or not it's quite the turn of events. He's gone private now but all hell broke loose last night. Trending #2 in the UK at one point
  23. I definitely see what he's getting at, he's just been clever and left out certain points to fit his narrative as you say. We do unfortunately live with car crashes, just like we live with the flu. They're both a part of our lives we just protect ourselves as much as we can. If the Government and the health experts are comfortable with Ministers etc saying to live with Covid and making the mitigating requirement of mask wearing discretionary then they must be confident that the mitigations so far have been largely effective. Obviously there's the pressure being put on Boris from his business pals but there has to be a compromise between the current mitigations and fewer restrictions
  24. It's an utterly stupid comparison and one which touches a nerve with me for different reasons. To emphasise your point, one of my best mates was killed on the roads a few years back. He was following the traffic light signals, the road markings, the speed limit and was wearing his seat belt. He was hit by a speeding drunk driver on the wrong side of the road. Point is he put the mitigations in place to protect himself and others. By getting vaccinated and wearing masks up until 19 July we've done the same, sooner or later people like Schneider have to accept that we've done all we can and balance the risk with the need for a fully open society
  25. Just logged in and didn't have to scroll very far to find this spectacularly bad take
