Yeah, as I indicated before, I was in a pretty shit place in my head when I posted what I did. I'm more than happy to be corrected on this. Normally I do try to think things through when posting, but don't always do so (especially if stoned). Mine was a bad post.

    Props for owning that :)

Were they not saying it was to do with people travelling back to the area with it. Obviously things change rabidly but will be interesting to see what happens there. The fear is that it just starts all over again of course

Am I the only person who saw this!

I shared a tweet like that, but was deleted. Presumably some of it isn't true, but much of it sounds plausible.

They are easy enough to fact check for example story 1 about the temporary hospitals in Wuhan closing:

  4. Never mind about the music festival here’s some good news regarding the massive public health issue:

China has closed down its last coronavirus hospital. Not enough new cases to support them.

Doctors in India have been successful in treating Coronavirus. Combination of drugs used: Lopinavir, Retonovir, Oseltamivir along with Chlorphenamine. They are going to suggest same medicine, globally.

Researchers of the Erasmus Medical Center claim to have found an antibody against coronavirus.

A 103-year-old Chinese grandmother has made a full recovery from COVID-19 after being treated for 6 days in Wuhan, China.

Apple reopens all 42 china stores,

Cleveland Clinic developed a COVID-19 test that gives results in hours, not days.

Good news from South Korea, where the number of new cases is declining.

Italy is hit hard, experts say, only because they have the oldest population in Europe.

Scientists in Israel likely to announce the development of a coronavirus vaccine.

3 Maryland coronavirus patients fully recovered; able to return to everyday life.

A network of Canadian scientists are making excellent progress in Covid-19 research.

A San Diego biotech company is developing a Covid-19 vaccine in collaboration with Duke University and National University of Singapore.

Tulsa County's first positive COVID-19 case has recovered. This individual has had two negative tests, which is the indicator of recovery.

All 7 patients who were getting treated for at Safdarjung hospital in New Delhi have recovered.

Plasma from newly recovered patients from Covid -19 can treat others infected by Covid-19.

    Heh, cheers.

I don't begrudge @Benja100 the sense of wanting to downvote things s/he doesn't agree with. It's a chaotic, scary time and we want to feel right about the things we've decided are true, never more so than with something we all attach a lot of value to, like Glastonbury. So when somebody comes along and flies in the face of your chosen narrative, it can be affronting and people react in different ways.

    It's all good.

Yes yes but I haven't actually chosen a narrative, my very close relative is highly involved in the planning and communication of the response to this situation in the UK from a senior role in government and I am party to some insight about what is going to happen next, and everything that I have shared, has been correct so far on here & mainly a couple of other forums.

It is quite frustrating that when I am attempting to give people a heads-up from a position of knowledge, it is met with mistrust, denial and dismissal.  I guess it is the internet so to be expected. Noone can verify my credentials and there's no way I can do that.

Ironically people respond this way, for the reason you stated above because it doesn't agree with their chosen narrative - one of hopeless optimism.  I'm more of a realist and thought people would want to know the reality but it seems some would rather bury their head in the ground.

It's crippling us. No bookings, any calls received are cancellations or queries about it.

This is the time of the year we rely on for cash flow and to get us through the winter months. As with bars, events etc. We're a bit more weather sensitive in the lake district. The flooding hasn't helped and now this. A lot of small businesses will fold cos we can't claim on insurance. We're not able to avail of the new budget. SSP is not available.

So if you have a hotel booking please don't cancel. Move your booking. Most owners are happy to offer a change of date in better times.

Hello there, we will be coming to the Lake District in 2 weeks.  I am more than happy to bring you some chocolates as a cheer-up aid as I have an amount left over.  We will probably just go for walks and stay in our accommodation rather than eating out.  I am guessing the claustrophobic but quaint atmosphere of the Grassmere gingerbread shop is off the table however which is a downer.

Still feeling grim, spent all day in bed, talking to my son online apparently lots of folk in my town have same symptoms over this weekend.  A mate dropped 2 weeks worth of catfood on the doorstep for me, so I'm sorted to wait it out.  I'd not panic bought or anything, but I'm one of those people who makes big batches of meals and freezes them and has 5kg of rice in the house anyway.  I'm sure it will be fine, thanks :)  I've got a half ounce of weed, half a dozen tabs of military grade acid and a gaming PC, should be ok to pass the time productively.

Hahaha 6 acid trips and a gaming PC!!!! Good work enjoy

Why is everyone thinking a postponement till august isnt doable? It is surely the best outcome for all parties.

I guess Because it doesn’t mitigate their financial risk in the way that early cancellation will, and unlike typical reasons for postponing an event, it is a lot less clear that the situation will be resolved by then.

Don’t get me wrong I’m gutted, for the first time ever all our friends in our group have a ticket and I’ve had a particularly unpleasant year this year with work and personal issues and have been looking forward to this more than ever. I hope it’s postponed honestly.

Hopefully just a cold or something but I'd not been able to shake off a headache all day yesterday and I've been up all night shaking and shivering and wheezing and coughing.  I just can't get to sleep for the feeling that it's freezing cold even with heating on full blast and wrapped in blankets.  I've now given up trying to sleep and got up for a cup of coffee and some paracetamol for breakfast.

It's like a 4 word horror story:  Have I got it?

Hello there please let me wish you all the best for a speedy recovery. Can I ask, are you taking a multivitamin and staying on top of your nutrition to give your immune system the best chance of fighting whatever you have?

Of course there is a small chance you have it  but it could be anything else too. You also probably will recover and then be immune and unable to pass it on so stay positive

I would seriously try not to worry about it right now, just minimise you energy expenditure and eat and drink well and rest. Don’t go out on your bike or drink alcohol or anything if can be avoided.

Do you have anyone locally who can help bring you stuff / food / medicine if needs be?

I do have some very high quality  boxes of chocolates here left over from work (they were Easter gifts but all our customer meetings are cancelled) and would happily send you some to cheer you up if you wish, pm me your address if you like :)

  10. My sis works in a senior capacity in this area and was round for lunch today. Spent almost the whole day on work conference calls.  All events over 500 people will be banned in a few days. Event organisers who are showing no signs of cancelling are likely holding off for this policy to be officially announced as it will be favourable to them from an insurance / legal POV. Sorry I know it’s not what you want to hear but it’s what is happening now. I’d say in likelihood tickets will cary over as that’s what happens with 99% of other events.

Please don’t offend the smiley community by placing them at the end of posts that are designed to inflame 😡

I’m very sorry. I was trying to be lighthearted by calling someone a silly duck but I’m afraid I got it badly wrong

In response to another comment I do not believe if the festival goes ahead that people will want to eat batch cooked fudge of unknown origin made by a festival participant so for now I will be putting fudge cooking operations on temporary halt awaiting further news

I do have 12x Cadbury’s creme eggs at home that I don’t need for Easter so if anyone wants one let me know

once again very sorry about everything and hope a smiley is now ok? :)

Not trying to be rude, genuinely not and couldn’t agree more regarding the Tory scum.

Hope and optimism are great qualities. But so are pragmatism and realism.

We all need to be gearing up now to protect ourselves and support others.

15 million voters in the U.K. who you have never met and have no idea what motivated them to vote against your opinion, are ‘scum’. Keep thinking like that Labour will die off. Not helpful.

Man who spews ill-informed, tabloid-level misinformation tells other people to 'grow up'. Jesus.

If you think Glastonbury is going ahead this year you are sadly deluded. Sorry that upsets you but it’s not my fault or my decision.  I think you could learn a thing or two from the tabloids I’m afraid! :)

There’s no need to be rude about people trying to look on the positive side of it.

This might be the wrong train of thought but I am very uncomfortable with the idea of further emergency powers for the government especially this Tory government. Who’s to say we would get any of the power and freedoms back.

Grow up. Like they’re going to stop people assembling or football forever for fun. It isn’t the Conservative party historically that wants a huge government that reaches out and interferes with everything.
