  1. I've probably been to over 100 gigs, seen a fair few acts who I'd listen to more/prefer over Pulp, but this was it. The greatest gig I've ever been to and I think it'll be extremely hard to top.

    Absolutely sensational.

My only counter point to that is regarding the validity of the takedown notice / cease and desist. I cannot find anything that say's 'Glasto' is a registered trademark. The map however was always an asset, and probably should have been redesigned from the start.

However, once the map was removed, name changed, and any mentions of protected trade marks / digital assets were also removed, why did they still pursue it? And on what grounds. This is where, to me at least, it looks like Goliath bullying David. They had no case against him, but still scared him into submission.

    Glasto appears to be a registered trademark here;

    https://www.trademarkelite.com/uk/trademark/trademark-detail/UK00912068029/GLASTO

Although I'm not going to claim to know the legals ins and outs but I imagine it's a no no haha!

I don't disagree that it come across as heavy handed when the changes were made, but does strike me very much as a case of damage was already done. If it was always called "Plan Your Festival" and had a couple of other festival line ups on there too, I think he'd have been fine.

  3. The app is great and the developer has done a really good job with it, but to play devil's advocate a little I can see why they asked him to take it down.

I imagine a fairly big part of the Vodafone sponsorship agreement is the branding of the app as it gives them a lot of visibility over the weekend. Naturally they want an app literally called "Glasto" taken down as they've paid a pretty penny for the exclusivity and the festival won't want to overly rock the boat with a new sponsor or risk people thinking that it's the official app and something goes tits up.

I know people are saying "not in the spirit of the festival" but the harsh reality is, the festival needs these sponsors to continue to thrive and sometimes that means business has to come first.

The developer meant well and was just excited to share what he created but I do think there was a bit of naivety in naming it Glasto, including the map etc.

  4. I sold my Pulp ticket on Twickets as I'd emigrated (moved back now, annoyingly). Basically have to email it to the buyer myself when it comes through & I don't get paid until after the gig actually happens.

He’s performing twice meanwhile Warpaint, Bat for Lashes and Sigur Rós & the LCO are doing shows. i’m definitely trying for tickets for serpentwithfeet and Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs

    Lineup

Anyone else trying to get tickets for some of these gigs? Been in the queue for nearly two hours now; definitely been the slowest ticket queue I've ever been in!

Sweet, nice one for that. Hoping Fever Ray is on the Friday as that would do me just fine.

Aye same here, Fever Ray/Lana/(probably) Elton would be a solid headline trio for me.

Looking forward to all my sweet, sweet indie landfill coming later.

Not quite indie landfill, but I'm hoping to see the likes of Alvvays & The Big Moon added later on!

  8. Would be absolutely gutted if this is true. Had an excellent run one day in 2019 of Sunflower Beam >> Haelos >> Let's Eat Grandma; honestly one of the highlights of my three Glastonburys. Also saw Porridge Radio with a handful of people last year and it was excellent.

Was a great place to go to get away from the crowds, too (Thursday the exception of course!). Will be a huge miss for me.

Definitely, was really hoping they’d be there and pixies and Franz would’ve been good.  Given last years line up was packed with all my favourite bands I knew this year was going to be a quieter one, but it’s sad to see so many excellent acts ruled out.

Yeah also a big shame about Franz; they were my ideal, realistic enough Other opener.

The Smile, Boygenius, Franz & LCD Soundsystem all being ruled out in the last couple of days; been a bit of a bloodbath start to the week for me!

  10. Will be joining the International Contingent this year as I'm moving to Madrid in March! Is it still the case where they don't ship tickets internationally and you have to pick it up from box office onsite?
