-downside: assuming the  rain is a  regular occurrence, i thought the conditions could have been handled better. Perhaps this is harsh though I'd highlight that having a big part of the main tent be a 'no-go' area is not great.

Weirdly despite the rain being fairly regular (though 2018-2022 were all quite dry), the ground conditions last year were the worst since an atrocious 2012.

I assume the timing and extent of the rain we got on the Friday evening was just an absolute killer for the site, but we’ve definitely had wetter overall years without having the same impact on the ground

Exactly!  Glastonbury isn't delayed at all - and I'm not sure that Green Man is particularly late either.  Neither have to rush - they are both sold out.  Its nice, but not essential, for us punters to have the line up months in advance, and it makes no sense to rush a line-up from a festival's perspective unless they have tickets to sell.

    Patience!

Indeed, if there was a green man thingy, it would say there is indeed a pattern and the pattern for the last few years has been to release the lineup on st David’s day. So it is bang on time

Etta Marcus will probably end up playing, she had her not sold out tour just after the poster came out, so can see her being on a future release. She was really good.

The others apart from Camera Obscura could all get added. They feel a bit refined and 6 Music for the Y Not crowd (and I include myself in that!!).

Also, I don't think it's really a festival aimed at people who'll be expecting a 50/50 split, I'd even go as far as to say they'd lose much of their audience by going down that road

And to be fair, I think they can have an impact by making ‘more effort’ without threatening their core business model. 50/50 split is always a bit arbitrary for me in any case; some of these festivals  appear to make ‘no effort at all’ and that’s where I just think it’s quite lazy.

The ones getting BBC money in my opinion should be made to make ‘a real effort’ to get more diversity on their lineups

Feel free to suggest other acts you feel could/should be there?

This is a self fulfilling problem though. Suggest they could’ve done more; here’sa few that appear likely to be around at about the same time this year for example that I’ve just worked out whilst sitting on the loo

    CMAT

    Camera obscura

    Etta Marcus

    the Big Moon

    Prima Queen

    Dehd

    Liz Lawrence

The criteria is to meet two of the following:

    less than £10m turnover

net worth of less than £5m

    fewer than 50 employees

but that’s all about to change soon - all companies will have to file full accounts including p&l and balance sheet

Thanks! They must’ve been carefully managing that balance sheet as their turnover must be multiples of that

Just listening to this and liking it. Are they playing this year? Can’t work out which stage.

Woodsies - excellent band, they come off as really nice people and they have some absolutely terrific songs. Truly divisive in my group though so I’ll be there, but I think it’ll be just me plus one other!

Shame.  Had some great times in Chameleon.  Stand out being around 5:00pm one afternoon when the DJ was playing a Rock/Nu Metal set and dropped Killing in the Name.  Whole tent pogoing and singing along instantly.  Fucking great.

Is there any like for like replacement at all this year? Chameleon was a great failsafe for our group if there was nothing else happening

Honestly looking ever better chances for boygenius to headline... MAYBE... JUST MAYBE... Maybe even Franz Ferdinand?!?!

    Image

But haven’t they already been ruled out by the festival?

Would imagine we’ll see a few of those others on that lineup though - CLH is good, Primal Scream would be ace of course on the mountain

I don't have any info. But Bon Iver are busy and The National are likely too big, plus they're not doing any festivals so far.

Oh I fully agree; I’d just prefer if they were really pushing the boat out for them to do it for those than for Bjork.

also see Decemberists, Phoebe Bridgers, Flaming Lips etc

  10. This is definitely solvable. Frankly the likes of Tiny Rebel, Gipsy Hill, signature etc are reasonable operations now. Two tribes do a great job  at end of the road; they could easily give areas over to some of these smaller breweries and split it up a bit. Would be a great approach

  11. Chai wallahs used to be an awful lot better than now - they’ve clearly had budget cuts, they seemed to barely strong a lineup together this year and they were largely the same bands as last year. My wife enjoys it but I’d quite like to see something more interesting in that space. Something different though, not just more of the same green man fare.

round the twist has potential but this year was a joke, it was basically playing the same late night music as was in the far out and walled garden and during the day was boring as hell. Get some secret sets in there and something fun later on

Highlight of the weekend was the guy on the WhatsApp chat getting upset about Grove criticising landlords, revealing he WAS a landlord and then getting an absolute pasting from everyone else until he offered to meet them at the Cider Bus for a fRiEnDlY dEbAtE.

Also Scalping and Fat Dog were excellent.

Reminded me of the old Green Man ‘all night disco ruined my weekend’ thread on their forum
