Oh come on buddy, you again (and again)!

    🙂

Every year the same story. You are arriving with a refreshed edition of your name consisting "Leaks" in it trying to appear important with the intention of earning reputation points by dropping "hints" which could mean like a dozen (speak any)  bands.Of course guys who are thirsty of any information or "clue" are like to beleive anything.

Its a little bit like Nostradamus, who told "clues" a couple hundred years ago and some people of today read too much into by connecting any story to him by "He was right".

I mean its fun a couple times and maybe you are the type who likes to entertain people by searching validation your way.

I mean anybody has the right to beleive in what he or she want.

At least it entertaining and fun, thats what we can agree on...

@Sziget2024_Leaks has provided LOTS of very strong, correct hints for the past two or three editions.

    Sleaford Mods

    Viagra Boys

    Bonobo

    Azzecca

    Loyle Carner

I've been listening to Loyle Carner all this morning, following his Mercury Music Prize nomination. He's far, far better than I'd previously given him credit for. He's definitely on my list now.

  3. Two weeks to go. Who are your top five "do not miss" acts of 2023? Mine are, in no particular order:

    1. Foals

    2. Sam Fender

    3. Confidence Man

    4. Nothing But Thieves

    5. Lorde

I feel that might be a bit 'vanilla' so hope others can recommend acts I'm not au fait with.

  4. One of the things the passport states is:

Permitted items - food (non-commercial quantities) and soft drinks (in a max 2.5 liter PET bottle).

Is this new? I have never realised you could take your own food in!

I assume the soft drink container needs to be sealed?

    Foals - Fender - Florence

    Yungblud - Imagine Dragons

Niall - Guetta (from far back) - Two feet. Day for other stuff such as circus..

    AJR - Baby queen - Mumford (i guess) - NBT- M83

Giant Rooks - Lorde - Macklemore- Confidence Man for grande finale

    Leaving home on day 6.

Will also try to catch: Easy life, Caroline, Frank Carter, Amyl, TroyBoi, Amber run, M. Byrd, Stain The Canvas, Call me karizma, TV Girl

Worst clashes: Viagra boys- Florence, Amyl- Macklemore

//So they moved M83 from late night to 20.45 and clash them with Mumford? Goddamn

I hadn't noticed that M83 had moved. That's really interesting. I wonder what the thinking behind that was?

I genuinely wonder if the M&S day tickets are selling so poorly that they decided to move M83 forward to try and attract local fans as day visitors who wouldn't come if they were playing at 12.30am (work the next day) but might come down if they're on earlier?

  6. Which main stage headliners will you all be watching?

I'm much more interested in the undercard this year, so will only definitely be seeing Florence.

I might catch a look at Billie Eilish (but her songs all seem sooooo slow) and Macklemore.

No interest in seeing Mumford and Sons, will probably just spend the time getting a good spot for NBT.

Yet to decide on ID and Guetta - dance music isn't my area of expertise but he doesn't appear to have the greatest reputation for playing 'live'.

  7. The festival starts four weeks tomorrow, does that mean staging has begun to be erected on the island? Or are we still a little too far out? Any locals visited recently - if so, how's the grass situation looking?

Just to give you a hint about the magic of Auchan, 10-15 mins walk from the entrance of the festival, converted to €:

    Heineken - 0.9€
    Jameson (0.5L bottle) - €16.5
    Red Bull - €1.5
Sausage roll - €0.6 /same size as Greggs or anywhere/
Shots like vodka are between €1 and €3.

There's also a food court and stuff.

Also, some local stuff to try once you're there:

Kakaós csiga  - pastry with cocoa (0.4€)
Pöttyös túró rudi - sweet and cold local "candy" with cottage cheese and chocolate (0.65€)
Maybe a shot of pálinka, our "national drink", couple €s.

If you're into that stuff you can get sour cherry ale for 1.1€ (Soproni Meggy Ale) which is in my opinion quite tasty even if you don't like beer. It doesn't really have strong beer taste but it's alright.

What else... idk. lynx is called axe here if that's helpful to anyone lol

Wow I'm so bored I wrote you all a proper shopping list.

    Cheers!!

They sell shots? Is the Heineken cold in a fridge or from a warm shelf?

Take the HEV until the next station, Kaszasdulo. It's a few minutes walk from there, then a few minutes walk from Auchan to the bridge.

Edit: yes, they sell everything, it's a hypermarket.

Any idea of the opening hours during the festival? Do they extend them?

Soooo. With this speculation about these absurd (but unfortunately still reasonable due to inflation) prices. Auchan party it is!

Where actually is Auchan? We usually stay in the city and get the train in. Is it anywhere near the bridge?

Do they sell fresh food - pastries etc?

    Sziget, would not be surprised.

When you think about it a big percentage of the visitors are from overseas. Now it is a lot more expensive, will it be a festival they will be looking at in the future? When you add in they have cut the amount of days of moving in days, festival days, weaker lineups, less non music stuff and it all mounts up.

Funny thing is, they'd probably be better off increasing the price of the ticket (which is still very reasonably priced for a 6 day event) in order to the beer prices low. Us Brits like our bargain beers!

Personally think they are screwing themselves up. Mad cool and other festival have much much better lineups.

Wouldn't be surprised if it gets pulled in the next 5 years.

    Sziget or Balaton being pulled?

  13. 17 hours ago, Akujin said:

Haven't been to a UK festival since 2019, so I'm not up to date. But we are going to Mad Cool this year, and last year they had 500 mil beer for 5.5 eur, which is pretty much the same price as this.

So it really looks like that they have caught up in prices to western europe. Except Hungarian people make about third on average than western europeans.

£6.50 at Live at Leeds a few weeks ago (or £8 for Neck Oil). So, Sziget still cheaper. Assume Dreher will be slightly cheaper than Heineken but will still likely work out at around £4.50 a pint. Not ideal and will likely impact on next year's visitor numbers I would suspect. It's got me worried about food costs too. Think we'll be eating before arrival each day tbh.

  14. Is there going to be a spectacular 'event' at 11pm each night outside Freedome like there was in 2022 and 2019?

I can't remember the name but had guys climbing and fireworks etc. Does that make sense? Was on every night just past the right side of main stage as you walk towards Freedome?

  15. So, what clashes do you all have?

I think my biggest ones fall on the first day, where I'll be sad to miss Destroy Boys and Los Bitchos as they clash with Foals and Sam Fender.

Also have a decision to make on Amyl and the Sniffers v Macklemore (yes, I know Macklemore isn't everyone's favourite but I really enjoyed his set in 2019). Will probably watch all of Amyl and then the second-half of Macklemore.

Can anyone recommend any decent acts on the final day? Feels like all the money's gone on Billie knowing she'll sell out the day tickets. There is literally nobody I fancy on the last day at all so any suggestions most welcome.

Full schedule is live apparently. I assume that means some of the timings we questioned were actually correct.

Is it though? All I can see on the website is all of the acts have start times allocated. No end times - unless that's on the app?

  17. If Taylor Swift performs at Sziget 2024 I'll pay for everyone's ticket. Never going to happen I'm afraid. Her popularity is above anyone else on the planet at the moment. Yes, I know we've had P!nk, Rihanna and Ed in recent years but Taylor is two steps above any of them. Would love it to happen, but it won't. Sorry.

You are missing the point. No one bought a day ticket for Arlo either. Im not saying there arent a few thousand people in Hungary who like him, but not nearly strong enough to impact daily sales.

So I only argued against the point that they brought him in to increase saturday daily sales. And that wont happen in any significant way.

He's playing on Sunday so his inclusion definitely won't increase Saturday ticket sales 😉

    I suspect you're bang-on with this.

He's headlining Summer Well in Romania and I was surprised he wasn't announced to begin with

Is he likely to sub, do we think? He's certainly bigger than Arlo Parks in the UK.

He should definitely sub Mumford and Sons, but I guess it depends if that position has been promised to, and included in the contract of, another act or not.
