Booking Rammstein to play Sziget with the current line-up would be like booking Ed Sheeran to play Hellfest.

We had Ed Sheeran and Foo Fighters on the same lineup few years ago, sooo... almost anything is possible at Sziget, I guess.

  2. Another band that would surely sell a lot of tickets very fast is Rammstein. They're doing an arena tour next summer and they have nothing scheduled after the 31st of July. I guess they can be convinced to play Sziget for the right price.

What makes them unlikely however is that they use lots of pyro and other stuff, so I guess it would be complicated to organize the gig.

Jumping back to reality for a second, here's a few options:

Queens of the Stone Age - playing in Sweden on the 8th of August, does that make them unavailable for a gig on the 7th in Budapest?

Maneskin - playin on the 18th of July in Portugal, then Rock en Seine in France at the end of August.

The Offspring - They're playing in Austria on the 15th, although they're not really a band Sziget is booking nowadays.

Placebo - 4th Aug in Turkey, 9th Aug in Switzerland, not the likeliest, but they're around

    Any more realistic additions?

I think The Offspring and Placebo aren't Sziget headliner material anymore. So, from that list maybe only Maneskin. However, they were in Budapest last year.

Paramore are also around. They are playing in Vienna on the 8th of August, less than 3 hours from Budapest by car. I know they're on a stadium tour with Taylor Swift but I wouldn't be surprised if they will presented as festival exclusives.

  4. I'm watching No Doubt's 2nd week performance at Coachella... it's incredible how much energy Gwen Stefani has at 54, wow! I really hope the missing headliner it's them. It looks like an once in a lifetime chance to have No Doubt headline Sziget, it would be a great booking.

So, with Wednesday's headliner and sub, along with some Hungarian names, unless I've miscounted, I don't think we are likely to get many more acts for tbe two main stages (maybe an extra one on the Saturday?)

Doesn't make for amazing reading, I've got to say.

I think they'll announce the Europe Stage names too

I'll be there too. 😀 Btw Sziget press conference on next Thursday so the official announcement is imminent.

Coachella ends this weekend and Sziget announces a press conference for next week. 🤔

Now I really think we get No Doubt or Blur!

Would any of the current headliners be able to sell out Budapest Arena?

I don't know, maybe Fred Again and Sam Smith.

I also think there are only 2 possibilities: they either have a big name left or they really messed up big time this year.

Or someone dropped out, or they don't have anything lined up, and now are trying to find a headliner

Unlikely I guess, because Leaks already told us after the second announcement that the last headliner is a band and that the 3rd announcement is coming soonish.

So right now we are leaning towards one of: No Doubt / Blur / Maneskin / QoTSA / The Strokes ?

Another long shot would be RHCP. They don't have anything scheduled after July 30.

Paramore might still be an option too.

I don't think so, they were in Europe last summer 🤷🏼‍♂️

Yeah but not in Hungary. With Gorillaz, Damon Albarn played in Budapest 3 times between 2017 and 2018 (twice in 2017 and at Sziget in 2018), so he's a bit unpredictable.

People also expected Blur to enter another hiatus again because that's what Albarn said in December but their Coachella booking was another surprise.

I’d put Arcade Fire in the list as well. They only have 2 shows announced for the 20th anniversary tour for Funeral.

I like them but I don't know if Sziget would risk to book them because when they played in Budapest in 2018, they barely sold all tickets for Budapest Sport Arena.

  11. New interview with Gwen Stefani, just before first Coachella weekend. There are doubts regarding new No Doubt music and a tour:

    Quote

Beyond Coachella, there are no concrete plans for touring or new music, although Stefani is “open to anything.” (“Well, I don’t have a crystal ball,” she adds. “Most things have surprised me in life. One of the things I’ve learned is to be present in the moment and try to absorb what’s happening around me instead of looking ahead.”) The two shows are “going to be a really nice bow to tie on the relationship, because we were kids [when we met],” she says. “I already know what it’s going to feel like because we’re just so in sync when we’re onstage. It’s going to feel like riding a bike again. We’re going to be laughing, and we’re going to look at each other and go, ‘Oh my gosh — there you are.’”

So... Blur are more likely to play Sziget?

Lenny Kravitz has just been confirmed for UNTOLD (which is in Romania in the same weekend) today so maybe he's one of the missing acts for Sziget?

He would definitely headline if Sziget had him but he's not a band, so I guess it's unlikely

He also plays in Budapest on the 30th July, so he's out.

No Doubt, Blur, The Strokes or QOTSA will do nicely, thank you very much.

I'm also rooting for No Doubt and Blur. The Strokes and Maneskin would be also okay but they wouldn't amaze me as much as No Doubt or Blur would do. QOTSA are fine too but they will be already at another festival I'm going to (Electric Castle), so I hope we get something better. 😁
