  2. Reviving this thread to comment on this years World Cup so far (mainly from a Welsh perspective but also overall). I haven't paid much attention to everyone else's group matches other than the big games but all the favourites stood out as expected. My main takeaway from the group stage was how sh*t the draw was for Scotland, they'd have sailed through 1 or 2 other groups. I wasn't expecting much from us this tournament but the way we played against Australia gave me so much confidence that on our day we might actually be able to turn over a big team - knowing we had Ireland or NZ in the semis if we made it that far. Turns out we didn't. It was such an odd performance. Felt we dominated for 30 minutes and then did very little. I think if Biggar makes the kick to make it 13-0 it might have changed the rest of the game slightly but absolutely not blaming him. Still think Gatland is the man to take us forward so hope there is no stupid talk about him going. Also huge credit to Argentina as they dominated the game in fairness from 30 mins onwards, especially the second half. Ireland v NZ - Absolutely unreal match. Even if we had gotten by Argentina... not a chance we would have beaten either of these teams. Watching this match felt like it was in 1.5 speed, both teams are so fast and strong in comparison to the first match of the day. Gutted for Ireland who seem to have some quarter final curse? England should cruise by Fiji. I suspect now a NZ v France final but who knows. Has anyone else been paying much attention to the tournament?
  3. I can't see anything other than City winning it again if I'm honest.
  4. In fairness I think he's one of those players that you love if he plays for your club but you hugely underrate if he doesn't. Perfect example was Jordan Henderson (let's not discuss his post-Liverpool career). So many of this types of player, bet everyone could name a player that fits this category. One of my closest friends is a Celtic fan and told me that Spurs under Postecoglu would be great fun to watch and so far he's been bang on. Seems like City will end up winning by 10+ this year. Top 4 seems a bit more open, would love Brighton to get it - as long as it isn't in place of Liverpool. - Think it'll be City, Liverpool, Arsenal and Spurs. On a different note, how are Chelsea this bad? Genuinely do have a squad of some incredible players and I really rate Poch so not sure how it's going so wrong?
  5. I think we all knew Singapore was an anomaly when it came to Red Bull. Fair play to them and Max for picking up their dominance where they left off before Singapore. I would be amazed if Red Bull don't try to find a way to swap Perez and Ricciardo for next season. Trying to be Max's teammate will always be the near impossible job but (as much as I like him) it's been more and more obvious recently how much it's getting to Checo. Swapping them is probably best for both at this point. I actually missed the last 5-10 laps as I had to go out so didn't hear radio messages etc which I assume you're referring to? Tricky for Mercedes as they have the greatest ever driver teamed with an incredible younger driver, not surprised they're not sure who to back in these situations.
  6. Can't believe I'm saying this about Singapore but for me the best race of the season, even if only for the race at the front for the final 10 or so laps. Just shows how good this season could have been withour Red Bull dominating. Was very impressed by Sainz tactics to back off a bit to help Norris (and therefore help himself). Was very clever but also a very calculated risk. Without doing that I'm convinced the Mercs would have flown by Norris, then him. It does make me wonder even more who the future World Champions are. Norris impresses me more and more but despite Leclerc seemingly being the Ferrari #1 I actually think Sainz has the nous to do it. I'm not sure Leclerc would have played the race as cleverly as Sainz did?
  7. I would be shocked if his new deal to 2025 didn't include some kind of extension clause for him to do exactly that - if Mercedes nail the 2026 regs like they did the hybrid era then he can cruise to an 8th title and retire.
  8. Not been on the forum for a couple of weeks so just catching up on a lot of it now so apologies for being a week or 2 behind... I'm sure most of you know but a huge LFC fan here and even I can say he's talking shite. I read the full Athletic interview and a lot of it was saying how even though he's moved there his views haven't changed... but he'll also respect their beliefs and not wear a rainbow armband or speak about it. So basically not doing anything. I love Hendo and for all he's done for our club I don't begrudge him the huge payday he would have been better saying nothing than giving this interview. His PR team misread this one massively.
  9. Bit behind on this but 100% agree, it would be incredible to see. He's done it all, shame he (so far) hasn't got the 8th title but seeing Lewis in a Ferrari would be unreal. Imagine a 1 year deal with them for 2026 when they nail the new regulations and he gets his 8th before retiring. Sign me up.
  10. I absolutely love Monza so hope it's an entertaining race. Red Bull giving Max the undercut on Checo says it all really, second driver will always be just that. In reality Max would likely have won fairly easily anyway so I guess it doesn't really matter but I'd still be a bit pissed off if I was Checo.
  11. Also saw a comment (not sure if it was him or another retired ref) who said that he didn't send the ref over to the monitor when he was on VAR as the ref was his mate and he didn't want to put him in a pressure situation (or similar wording). Absolutely ridiculous. Always said VAR isn't the problem, it's the people using it.
  12. I don't want to comment too much on visiting the farm now as I'm not sure what the official line is but all I'll say is when I do go I park by Pilton Skateboard Park and walk in through Marys Gate. Always so amazing to visit the farm. Even when absolutely nothing is there other than the pyramid structure it's crazy how much happiness the place can bring. A video I always link to is this one which shows the difference between when the festival is on and not. I'm sure there are loads of these but this one I love:
  13. Not sure this would be possible with a toddler but climbing Pen Y Fan is great. Beautiful views from the top on a clear day. Another thing you could do is a day trip to Cardiff, probably about 45 minutes from you depending on where you are in Brecon. Pretty much anything you wanted to do here. Also about an hour from you are some Showcaves which always seem to be popular for families: https://www.showcaves.co.uk/
  14. I'm sure I read they're spending all this money now with the aim of the Saudi league being a more established and recognised league for quality etc. I can't say I'll be watching but it can't be denied they've already brought a lot more eyes to their "product" in the last couple of months. Having a bottomless pit of money certainly helps.
  15. I saw earlier that the earliest someone has won the title was 6 races from the end of the season (Schumacher). I've read that it was a bit easier then due to the % points difference between 1st and 2nd back then which makes it a little more difficult but I wonder if Max might do it this year. He's already 125 clear and doesn't look like slowing down any time soon.
  16. It's funny because during the Mercedes dominant years I was willing someone to beat Hamilton (support of the underdog I guess) but today I cheered out loud in the pub when her got pole. He's out performing that car massively, as shown by George, although it seems he was hindered by traffic. McLaren being that high is great, don't think anyone expected them to be that high on this track. Is this actual proper progress for them for the first time in ages? Would love them to do this consistently.
  17. Agree with this, £30mil in todays market is great value. How old is he? He's one of those that always seemed to be great when he played against us.
  18. This is a great shout to be fair. I think I might still be registered from when I was going to apply back in 2019 so will have a look into it. Would be good to try and align with people off here and see if I could meet up with them if working. You need to do 2 this year to get priority for Glastonbury next year right?
  19. Personally I'm just annoyed at myself for staying for as much of their set as I did.
  20. I was near the back of the Pyramid watching Lewis Capaldi. He made a few jokes about it and seemed very much himself which was nice to see considering what happened over the course of the rest of the set.
  21. How many seconds is Max winning by this weekend then? It would be good to see McLaren being competitive again but we've seen a few of these false dawns over the last few years.
  22. I've been having this thought a lot myself. There a fair amount of friends on this forum who work every year and love it. I'm very tempted. I think I would still prefer a normal ticket but it would be daft not to explore the working options I think.
  23. You've done very well there!
  24. That's a great picture, congratulations! Totally get the 12 week thing. Our scan was a week late (so actually a 13 week scan) and was on the Tuesday. I was very nervous when my wife told me the date at first as I thought it was the Wednesday! 😄 Have you started putting the feelers out for someone to babysit during the festival next year yet? 👀
