  1. As others have said, you might be rather optimistic (unless your taste in music is very niche and you're not planning to see anyone popular). It also depends if you fancy watching from the back of a big crowd, as there are a lot of people at the festival, and if your timings are tight between stages, you'll be stuck in slow moving crowds, and then arrive with 20,000 people in front of you. I prefer to be closer to the action, so aim to get to stages a little early, and see less bands but have better experiences.
  2. It's difficult for bands whose stage presence was built on being cool to keep that up in old age 😕
  3. It wasn't totally clear, but that's what I thought - however there were a few earlier posts, and it may be that the "refused" isn't because they're looking for somewhere else, it's because they want to stay at the 2023 site. I don't think the 2023 site is actually in Getafe, but it does border it, and someone suggested that due to last year's problems and noise complaints, they would try to block this year. There was also a suggestion that the owners of the site have a stake in Mad Cool, so this was intended to be their long term home, and to be used for other events. If that's the case, then moving back to the 2022 site would be giving up a lot more, as they're invested heavily in the new site's success.
  4. I noticed a comment from a couple of days ago in a Facebook group. Suggested that Getafe council didn't want them at the 2023 site, and that Mad Cool had turned down Madrid council's offer of a return to the old site. Anyone heard anything about this?
  5. They've been posting on Facebook - last video was 2 days ago. But not much build up hinting at an announcement.
  6. They announced last year on the 4th December, so doubt there's much to worry about. Could well be your second option, or could just be that they found last year's announcement worked. Given that the year before was the 2020 edition carried over, you have to go back to 2019 for the previous "first announcement), so it's not like there's a recent history that they've suddenly changed.
  7. That's brilliant. Having listened to the playlist, I'm amazed the Spanish section is actually so small 🙂 I went to The New Normal one in 2019, and felt that there 50:50 was too poppy, and neglected the indie side of things. Feels like the undercard is a bit more balanced this time around.
  8. Was that organised by the same people who did the Reggaeton festival in 2022 which was also cancelled at the last minute?
  9. Anyone who spends time digging around that abomination of a website deserves a medal 🙂
  10. It sounds great to be honest 🙂 I think it was more that it's small enough for the accommodation to be wiped out by a nearby festival. Seven months out, what little there is left is really expensive, and appears to be well over double the price of the following week.
  11. Yeah - I was looking at that yesterday. Do we know how big they're planning it to be this year? Last year it was just 20 bands in total over 2 stages and 2 days, but I notice it's three days this year. Wondering if the days will be expanded too, as €225 feels like a price for more than 2 stages, especially as the bands don't look the more expensive headliners.
  12. I'd ruled out Leuven as the town looked so small, but would be very tempted by that. Prices are definitely not cheap though - best twin I can find is £200+ a night already!
  13. Glastonbury is the main reason I'd never camp at a festival again 🤣
  14. Primavera and Mad Cool are the same - I prefer late starts - more bands with proper light shows in the dark.
  15. It's not too different to a hotel - guess it helps having 8 people. I'll keep an eye out for the line up next week.
  16. I vaguely remember it being insanely priced. How much is your bungalow is you don't mind me asking? I've just come back from Shiiine On at Butlins, so the prices in my head are artificially low right now 🙂
  17. I actually had a holiday on that island about thirty years ago 🙂
  18. Looking for some recommendations this year for non-camping festivals. Have done Primavera, Mad Cool, Rock en Seine, Berlin and Pukklepop, but wondering if there are any other reasonable sized ones where you can stay in a hotel easily.
  19. She's been playing her new album followed by a second set of "greatest hits" this tour. I can see the second half going down well. I'd agree that her later albums played in full, which seems typical for her, is an acquired taste. Certainly that's the feeling I got in the Primavera crowd in 2016.
  20. Back home late last night, and have to say I was blown away by Mad Cool 2022. The last festival I went to was Primavera 2019, which was a bit of a let down, and with three more years added to the dodgy knees, and aching feet, I was managing my expectations. But, no need to. Band after band knocked it out of the park, and the food and drink were fantastic. Can't believe just how many bar staff there were, and getting home was an absolute breeze. Just glad it wasn't this week as I think 40°+ might have been a bit too hot! Still, being able to sit down wherever on the astroturf made a big difference. I had planned to go somewhere else next time (and had looked on enviously at Primavera's lineup for this year), but after this year, I'd definitely be up for Mad Cool again!
  21. Yeah - I went in 2018 and that's how we got back. Fortunately spotted someone saying that they changed it in 2019. Lots of people on Facebook very confused by where they stop too.
  22. They apparently went only to Castilla in 2019 - Not sure where I read it, but there was some discussion about guessing if they'd do it again, and where to stay. Metro is obviously a lot closer, but still a trek to the centre unfortunately.
  23. The metro running late is a great option. Can't believe the shuttles stop before the festival ends on the Wednesday - that seems a little odd.
  24. Is it by any chance an auto-mistake with the website based on timings? So everyone playing after midnight is sorted into the next day. Classic Mad Cool 🤣
